Considering the limited power of the Intellivision, this version of Lady Bug is pretty good in my opinion. Yes, the fact that there is no "Special" is disappointing as it is a great feature of the game. Growing up in the 70's and 80's, you appreciated ANY resemblance to the arcade version as the technology for gaming was in it's early stages still. ColecoVision obviously was the best.
In a way it kind of looks like Pac Man! I just got this game yesterday for 25 cents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I don't have an Intevlevision yet :(
@deweytrux The arcade version is not much different. Back in the day when you needed quarters, you really would appreciate the SPECIAL feature. I was kind of disappointed to know that the veggie harvest is absent from the arcade, unlike the coleco. Great graphics, though.
The Colecovision may have the best port of this game, followed by the actual arcade, because this game became popular through the Coleco console. This port, though, falls far short; the game is pixelated, the characters look sub-realistic, the sound is far from par, and the SPECIAL is missing. Can't believe Coleco would be too cheap to resemble this with the arcade, like its sad Donkey Kong port for Intellivision, knowing its 16-bit compatibility. This port is...gosh-awful.
I was about to say the same thing. I have the Collecovision version of Lady Bug, way better!! Although, I would still love to have this for my Intellivision.....
What do you mean gosh-awful? It's the second best version unless systems other then the 2600 had it. The Coloecovision one looks the best but it does not play that music when you get the bonus item in the bug house and it's harder to play and control then the Intellivision version. When you consider that Colecovision is supposed to be morepowerfull then Intellivision then the Intellivision version is pretty awesome.
The sound is not that bad, this must have been running on a emulator.
200 levels? That's insane. I disbelive! The best I ever was about 35 levels on colecovision. I remember I loved doing vegetable hunts when the "Special" bar was complete.
I wanted to get this for my Intellivision II back in the brief period that I had one in 1984. But of all the versions of the game I played, the homebrew Atari 2600 version is the best!
W-O-W !! talk about video junkie ! I went to work an hour earlier, missed lunch, stayed ater work 3 or 4 hours, just to play the arcade version in the mall where i worked back in the 80's ! gave me chills to see this !
To pass a level, you need to eat all the pellets. If you eat a skull, you die. If the Beetles catch you, you also die. You can flip the yellow barriers around to block off or trap the Beetles.

The Special was the best. Can't believe the Intellivision version didn't have it. Oh, wait. Yes I can. It was, after all, Intellivision.
Colecovision ruled! Loved gettin' the vegetable harvest. Suh-weet!

I often play the arcade port on MAME, can't go wrong. Starts with only three lives, though.

100% agreed. Its the only 2600 homebrew I own (so far) but I love it. Amazing what modern programmers can do with 2600 hardware.

There is no way the Atari 2600 version could be better then the Intellivision version.

That game was freaking great. The Coleco version was the best. I can remember playing it for hours once and beating about 200 levels. It was insane.

I played the Coleco version of it. Man! It brings back such fond memories of my childhood. Oh, what a time!

Think Pac-Man with rotating doors and poisons.
