@planedude115 Well good thing it wasn't "empty of fuel" then, huh? The aircraft has 22.5 gallons useable and NTSB says it had over 10 gallons of fuel with the fuel selector on "both." I hope you weren't asserting that this pilot landed the aircraft off-field due to fuel exhaustion without knowing what you were talking about. Imagine that.

haha I had to do that on I-25 in Wyoming, I was flying my cross country from KGXY to K7V6 we developed carb ice a few miles south of chugwatter. the engine didnt quite, but we lost enough power to sustain level flight, so down we went. we got it donw saflty but not before noticing powerlines infront of us right before we touched down. my instructor quickly pushed us under. I spen tthe rest of my day in a Loaf 'n Jug in cheyenne! WOOO! not...

Looking at the NTSB history for this airplane it looks like a pilot hit the wing tip on a restuarant a couple years ago too.

Wow, your right! The pilot clipped a railing on the deck of a restaurant while taxiing. Apparently he misjudged the height of the deck railing. Said there was substantial damage too... Must've been a tad embarrassing, accidents happen though. Where is there a restaurant that close to a taxiway?

Many airports have restuarants on the field. They're pretty popular as "$100 hamburger" places to fly to and also popular with old pilots who can't fly anymore but want to hang out at the airport. My guess is that there was an outdoor patio that the pilot wanted to tie down next to when he hit the wing. I can't say too much; I hit a wing on a fence post while taxiing at a remote runway in Mexico. I felt pretty dumb about it. It didn't take much of a tiny dent to cause $5000 in damage though.

Actually the plane was towed off the parkway and yes the parkway was shut down for 10 minutes to tow the plane to a remote area so the wings could be removed and the plane was then towed back to the airport.
