You used electircal tape on the speaker. Electrical tape is made to be put on wires and stuff to PREVENT electrical transer and sparks and stuff. So the electrical tape is probably what made it not work...

I am in 7th grade and it's so obvious to me that this is a HOAX. Didn't you learn anything in physics? Shorting your audio line with a penny or any other conductor will not create audio vibrations. The device is round with wires coming out of the center to look like a real speaker but it isn't. Even if it does work (which it doesn't), the power needed for a speaker this size would not be attainable from a battery powered Mp3 player. If you fell for this HOAX, I recommend to go back to school.
