  • I made the recipe for Thanksgiving and it came out REALLY good. It was my first time making an Apple pie. I only waited 3 to 4 hours on the cool down and it was not runny at all. I used a store bought crust wich was ok but the dough was too thin and did not fit the pan so next time I will make my own. I also laid the slices neatly in the pan instead of dumping them in. I also used alot less of the lemon. I still tasted the lemon even when I used less so I am glad that I used less.

  • What is "stick of butter" i know slabs but sticks??? How many grams in a stick?

  • If you don't want to wait 6 hours - cut your apples a little on the thick side about 1/4-1/2 inch use 2 tablespoons of cornstarch instead of flour in the filling and cook the whole filling on low heat for a few minutes, don't cook too long. You can also add some crushed ginger snaps to the bottom of the pie to Osborn some juice. If you don't have a food processor- cut the COLD butter into the crust with a fork and add COLD water a table spoon at a time. To reheat- cut a thin slice place on oven

  • what the fack dude ii cant understand how to masure them

  • Do you really have to wait 6 hours? Because I would think the crust would start getting really soggy. And this is the first recipe I have seen that says you have to wait 6 hours. I was gonna use this recipe but I am not gonna wait 6 hours because I really don't think I would still be as fresh by then. But if someone could let me know otherwise then I would use this recipe.

  • nice blender ass!

  • ok i can wait for the 6 hours but....what if i want to eat hot with vanilla ice cream? how do i reheated? :S anybody??? answerss?? by the way....it looks good !

  • i now want pie.

  • I do not have one of those machines

  • I really wanted to make apple pie, but I just don't want to wait 6 hours to enjoy it. Store bought here I come!

  • ouch 450ºF was too high for mine... almost got burning..... =S

    Very nice filling, though

  • Very good!

  • hello, john. i really love apple pie. but my apple pie just cannot taste good after one day on the table. the filling will taste nasty. my question is how can we make the apple pie last a bit longer? i cannot bake it the same day i want to deliver it to my friend.i live in the tropic. thanks so much .

  • looks so delicious, must try making it :D

  • Salt is also a preservative, so unsalted butter tends to be fresher than the salted kind. If you use salted, make sure the "use by" date is as far as possible and halve the amount of salt you put into the dough.

  • this is very delicious and it was nicely done but there are 3 people who doesn't have tastebuds.

  • why dose the butter have to be unsated?

  • @666ninabear

I don't think you have to but it might taste to salty with salted butter so then you probably wouldn't want to add salt.

  • "...and another half" (mother f******)

  • That was a very nice demo. Thank you!

  • This is a great recipe! I loved it! my whole family loved it. It is easy and delicious! This is a great video! John Barricelli is so handsome! :)

  • Incredible video! Great recipe! Perfectly clear Tutorial! I am gonna go out and bake my first apple pie now... very excited! Thank you!!

  • That's a great recipe!!!! I'm trying it now, and it looks amazing!!!!! Just like yours hahah (:

  • Granny Smiths !

  • 6 hours? fuck you!

  • I hate his voice

  • The crust was great the filling was horrible I don't if it was too hot or what was the problem. It was mushy an bitter

  • I love this crust. I'm not a baker and I followed John's steps to the letter and it came out perfect. A few pie lovers gave me great reviews. I will do it over and over again

  • Does anyone know how to do the cherry filling?

  • I tried the recipe and it looks great. It was easy to follow and to make. I guess my family and I will know how it tastes tomorrow during thanksgiving dinner. Thank you:)

  • lol 6 hours? no way man im eating that straight out of the oven

  • John Barricelli is the best of the bunch.

  • I tried this recipe and it tastes and looks great! BUT: next time I'll heat the apples so that they are shrunk when I put them in the oven and so there's no huge hole in my pie. Nevertheless, this one really works out well!

  • how much is 2 sticks of butter in grams????

  • Do I need a food processor? I only have a hand mixer.

  • @picatsoforfma the way they did it way back in the day, they used knives to cut the butter into the flour. I just get a wide bowl with a flat bottom and cut the shit out of the butter. its actually better this way. with the uneven pea sized butter chunks, with some smaller some bigger, when it bakes, there is more flakey areas of the crust. you wont end up whth a dense piece of crust like for fruit tarts instead. I use forks, knives, and etc. food processor is probably fine as well, just pulse

  • @picatsoforfma ah i meant DO NOT use a hand mixer, u may end up with a ball of gooey mess. i read ur comment wrong

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE AMEZING AND SIMPLY COOKING I REALY ENJOYED WATCHING YOUR VIDEO

  • Looks beautiful but as a casual baker/cook, the alternative of paying $5.99 for one at the grocers seems more gratifying. :D

  • great receipe....i just did it....is crispy and it taste DIVINE !!!!!!!!!easy to make....thank you John Barcelli ......from now on this will be my only apple pie receipe that i'll use

  • Awesome! :D

  • I'd add some ice cubes to that water .. and a bit more water .. it just falls apart ..

and i would never roll the dough first .. prepare the apples first then roll the dough or i'll dry out or the butter will melt inside the dough and making it sticky

  • AWESOME!!!

  • is it just me or does he have very feminine hands?

  • @jamiriaseeger...He's a Pastry Chef, not a Bricklayer!....Good Lord!

  • @cheezer57 it was just an observation, jeez, i wasnt tryna imply anything :P

the reason he put salt by the apple mixture is because it brings out the rest of the flavours more.
