@RosySuperBeatleFan i find the book so confusing. If i didn't see the movie first, i'd be lost. it started out with him being a commander in the army, then re-telling the story in POV with his knowledge of what he know now. It's like analyzing his life.
I can't believe that the people in my class didn't notice the blatant love these two have in the book. When my teacher told them they kept saying how 'subtle' it was. I mean, it's so obvious. O.O <3
This was my favorite scene from the film...they are so free in this scene yet there is an undercurrent of sadness especially with the music. Very haunting in a beautiful way.
i loved the miniseries, loved the movie, loved the book. i even started writing fanfiction. evelyn waugh was amazing. i love the movie's score. so beautiful.
Although I feel this movie has many flaws, this sequence is so incredibly beautiful. Lovely music, wonderful cinematography and subtle but powerful acting. Just astounding...
omg, i so agree with you totally!!!! this movie has been out for one year now, wanted to watch it ever since, and just watched it on starz channel yesterday. i loooovvveedd it! although i nevr watched the show or read the book, i love this one.
and it's my favorite scene of course and the music is the best. its our fav b/c u see nothing but the bond between the two of them.
Those of us who read the novel enjoy the mini-series .This movie rewrites the story.(like the David Lynch "DUNE").Charles isn`t a social climbing mimbo.
@holmsatlarge I don't think books, movie adaptations, and adaptations of movies should really be judges off of each other. They should each be taken on their own merit. Having never read the novel (although I have it and plan to) nor seen the mini-series, all I have of Brideshead is this film: and if that was all that existed, it would be enough. I think all representations of art are worthwhile on their own merit - although it IS difficult to compare books to film ... we must try. :)
@LilyNoelleArt I`m glad you enjoyed the film, and where that all I would agree.I think after you read the novel you will gain a new perspective. The mini-series also changes a few things,as is expected in adaptations. It does stay truer to the novel.
Seen as seperate objects, they are fine on their own.I hope after you read the novel, you will be kind enough to pass along your impressions.
P.S.See "Brideshead Revisited...Revisited"by Samasora for a discussion,it`s on Youtube..
@holmsatlarge Actually the novel has been sitting on my shelf ever since I saw the film, because I went out the next day to buy the book. It needs to be dusted off and read! I've been wanting to for so long. I'm sure it will be beautiful; I expect nothing less! ;) I will share my observations, and thanks for the discussion link! I'm going to take a look! :)
@LilyNoelleArt Thank you for the reply.I shall look forward to your views.I noticed you are a balet as well as a Ben Wishaw fan-may I point you to Bnesque`s channel? He has a fine ballet collection and is a BR and Wishaw fan.We have had many chats on BR.

Everything about this version is inferior to the 1981 version. Everything.

I didn't like the movie on the whole, but Ne Whishaw did an amazing job on Sebastian. He seemed so vulnerable, so deprived of love and care.

The book is amazing. The tv miniseries is great. The movie was terrible.
They totally destroyed Lady Marchmain's and Sebastian's characters in order to sex up the story, IMHO.

Seems that everyone who's not seen the TV show loves it and those who have hate it. I'm the latter.
