It's not 100 feet, they just messed with the video to make it look higher up. The kid actually fell from about 20 to 25 it looked like in the actual.

Okay, the guy was trying to get off the lift, and his back pack was caught on his chair. he tried to hop off the lift and that caused his helmet to get caught. Ski lifts do not stop instantly as once the stop is pressed to prevent people from falling off do to his momentum. And lifts DO NOT go backwards! There are so many mechanical fail safes to prevent it from doing so, plus none of the lifts I have been trained for have a reverse button.

@Sketchtool Ski lifts can go backwards. When boarding a ski lift there is usually a sign that tells all riders that the ski lift may require reverse operation. I don't know where you got this information but it is wrong.

@Sketchtool Well I don't know where your form, but in most places like vail resorts where I used to work as a lifty, telluride where I grew up and a few ski resorts in colorado, utah, and Europe that I've seen you can set the lift to run in reverse(but very slow). Theirs even signs posted about it on the lift towers sometimes, so don't be ignorant.
