If you are trying to play arabic chords on a regular guitar..well stop because it is just annoying. You have to play the oud (lute) because the guitar is made to play halfnotes but the oud (lute) is made to play quarter notes. +the oud has a totally different tune and 10 strings. Good Luck!!!!

This is the stuff you hear by bands like Orphaned Land and Nile, not very "Arabian" in my opinion, in fact I think if you show this to any Arab who knows his Arabian music, he won't be much fammiliar with it. But in all aside from that all it's really good. There's a scale called Maqam Hidjaz Kar that sounds simmiliar to this, we also have other scales that are nearly impossible to play on an ordinary Guitar.

There is no one "arabic mode". This improv kinda jumps around, but see my post below re: phrygian major if you want an "arabic-sounding" mode. It's built upon the fifth degree of the Harmonic Minor scale.

If you want the real deal, check out Maqam scales.

But if you want something a little more simple, check out the Phrygian Major scale. Both will sound very exotic to Western ears.
