  • i hate hate hate a christmas story

  • @SweeneyTodd1992

    i'm with you.

do you want to grab torch and lighter fluid and burn every copy known to man?

  • @DArkkiness1111 sounds like a plan to me and i hate how they play it all day on christmas its the one and only down side to christmas

  • I remember hearing that Charles Shultz, creator of the original Peanuts cartoon, wanted real children to voice his characters instead of the still industry-standard women voice actors. The reason for the woodeness is that he got his wish and one of the voice actors had to have the script read to them... word by word.

  • too bad nightmare before christmas didn't make it...well guess i'm only just a fanboy, but everyone has its own opinion

  • what about a nightmare before christmas

  • i remember a one version of the Christmas Carol that was set in the present day, only reason why i even remember it is because it had a weird clip with ninjas, the North Pole and James Bond

  • I never got into "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", "A Charlie Brown Christmas", or "A Christmas Story". As mainstream as they are, I just found them boring. Charlie Brown Christmas is just fucked up. I suffer from severe depression and even I don't get THAT low on Christmas.

  • @mupty are you kidding me? Charlie Brown may have some down moments but that ending and Linus's monologue are awesome. It's also one of the few movies that tell the origin's of Christmas. Well the origins of the Christmas we celebrate. I get flack from wiccans about how we stole the holiday but honestly, I don't care.

  • My favourite Chrismas Carol is still the Patrick Stewart version and also check out the best modrn adaptation starring Ross Kemp. So I recommend it HIGHLY!

  • Im pretty sure its just me, but I hate christmas Story

  • @whatevers31 We who hate A Christmas Story live in the shadows... and live in Florida where snow is a myth and don't see what all the commotion is about.

  • I have to admit I love 'Its Christmas Time again, Charlie Brown' more than 'Charlie Brown Christmas'. Search for it on youtube if you haven't seen it, its hillarious!!

    Oh sweet nostalgia!!

  • I watch a Christmas story with my family every year.

  • Sorry Critic, but my favorite Christmas Special is "The Little Drummer Boy" :')

  • I absolutely LOVE the 1984 version of A Christmas Carol!

  • My Top 5 Christmas Specials

    5. A Christmas Carol (Patrick Stewart)

    4. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (film)

    3. Home Alone

    2. How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

    1. A Christmas Carol (George C. Scott)

  • Where is the polar express????

  • Comment removed

  • @videogameman423 He did another list of the best Christmas Specials the next year. It was on that list (Although he says he only likes it in 3D)

  • @monsterboy31 ya after i watched this last night i saw the other one. but i don't see why he put it at 9! it's a way better movie than he says it is!

  • @videogameman423 Well, it's his opinion.

  • @monsterboy31 yah but it deserves a spot a little higher than that it might've been ok at 7 maybe 8

  • my top 5 specials

    1) christmas carol muppet version

    2) doctor who christmas carol

    3) its a wonderful life

    4) ruldoph rednose reindeer

    5) red sleigh down

  • Top 5 Christmas Specials to me

    1. It's a Wonderful Life

    2. A Christmas Carol (any version)

    3. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (animated)

    4. Home Alone (Old Man Marley is one of my favorite characters in any movie, despite having a very small appearance)

    5. A Christmas Story (don't troll, i find this film overrated)

  • the I.M. Meen song goes good with this.

  • what about pee wees christmas speacial? or the claymation christmas celebration? those are my favs!

  • @melissaroseknows I love the claymation christmas special. The bells are the best part

  • Watching 1984's Christmas Carol right now!

  • Nationial Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is my favorite Christmas film. it makes me ROFL!

  • my favorite christmas movie is gremlins

  • @98Lubo That movie was on the runner-up list of the Critic's favorite Christmas movies in 2009. In case you didn't know.

  • My favorite Christmas movie is Scrooge starring Albert Finney

  • Muppets Christmas Carol is the best. Don't even try to deny it.

  • Ahhhh... too bad he probably hasn't seen the Patrick Stewart verson of Christmas Carrol, that one is the best, and the second best, Scrooged.

  • @Raster1990

i wonder if he counts Scrooged as a christmas classic

  • @Raster1990

Patrick Stewart was kick-ass as Scrooge. That's my favorite version of the movie.

  • @marmik961 (reprint) dr. seuss films are to me what moulin rogue is to him

  • @marmik961 seuss are tl me what moulin rogue is to him

    dr.

  • Anyone know which version of Carol of the Bells that is?

  • Funny story. When I was 10 my dad bought a red rider lever action bb gun for my birthday. The same day we watched a Christmas story even though it was January. We had a good time and that memory still stand out to some nine years later.

  • i didnt really like its a wonderful life and i only saw the remake of the grinch it was ok i never saw the charlie brown one either i didnt really like a christmas carol and i never saw a christmas storu either

  • @PoohFanGirl1990 yes I agree. I'm Catholic and get so sick of people saying "Oh it's a holiday tree not a Christmas tree, it makes the atheists feel bad or some crap" It's always been called a Christmas Tree; tradition. It upsets me so much that they always pick on the Christians. But I digress, Christmas is a time for celebrating and family. Religious or not. ;)

  • @DjHamHam411 So few other Catholics on youtube nowadays, refreshing to meet them and I agree with both of you. I just love when Linus comes out and quotes the gospel of Luke and that brings everyone together. It reminds me of when people remembered and showed respect for Christ in Christmas instead of being overly worried about tolerance, so much so that they put aside toleration for Christians and Catholics

  • I think A Charlie Brown Christmas works simply because it includes the birth of Christ in its message. And in today's politically correct world, it's refreshing. It doesn't throw religion in your face but it's very straightforward. I think that's why even people who aren't religious can enjoy it. Speaking as a Christian who likes almost every Christmas special, religious or not, it's definitely one of a kind.

  • A Charlie Brown Christmas is my #1 pick for the best Christmas special. It's not overly elaborate, it's not that colorful, it's not even that cheerful. It's very simple but honest. Or as Doug puts "There's no bullsh#t. What you see is what you get." It gives me this indescribable feeling that no other special provides. It really is just perfect. I always love watching it every year and I can't wait to share it with my future children.

  • I liked the Jim Carrey version of Christmas Carol. Too bad it didn't come out sooner or it would have been on the list.

  • what no tnbc?

  • i liked the Jim Carrey version of hte grinch. it was funny, though a bit weird at times.

  • when I saw Scrooge, I smelled gingerbreads and I'm watching this in the middle of the night in November:D

  • wait,i NEVER his in the cuppord when i was scared, and i never fantasized something like that when i was punished, but i never would stick my toung on somethin during winter

  • comment 200!!!

  • Yay Christmas Vacation!

"We're gonna have the hap-hap-happiest time since Bing Crosby tap danced with Danny effing Kay!"

  • little dissapointed Die Hard didnt make it on the list ):

  • @eddiErdnuss it made it on the 2nd list and and guess which number that movie is in the list? NUMBER 1!!!!!!

  • @barulez

    HELL YA!

i knew i could count on the nc :D

  • @eddiErdnuss Go to the next clip of Top 11 Nostalgia Christmas List # 2, there you will see that Die Hard in each number if you guess?

  • What I mean is that the Jim Carrey version did. Just in case you're about to blow my brains out.

  • THE GRINCH SUCKED.

At least, to a little girl who to this day is still afraid of the dark it did. And still does. Thank you very much, Skittle out.

  • Critic nailed it on the head with the last scene from Christmas Story. It almost feels like a P.S or an afterthought, which is odd because it's so simple and so perfect and really does sum up what is often the most memorable part of christmas, sitting with loved ones and watching snow (or rain in my case because I don't get snow where I live, but it's still a nice feeling)

  • When Christmas comes around, I make it a priority to watch Christmas Vacation

  • I may have taken it the wrong way, my bad.

  • I can see his complaint of the live action Grinch film. As with most performances, Jim Carrey goes way over the top. The Grinch is not that kind of character, he's a grumpy old man pretty much. Jim Carrey can be subtle when given a chance, but most directors have him going overboard. That was the same problem with A Series of Unfortunate Events. Count Orlaf is supposed to be sinister not goofy.

  • @moviemaverick Jim Carrey going way over the top?!

Wow you're talking about the guy who make Ace Ventura

  • @tricksterhuaun And I said that when given a chance that he can be subtle. So there was really no need for you to respond that way to what I said. It was kind of a dick move on your part dude.

  • @moviemaverick Oh sorry, i didn't mean to.

  • How can you not like the Jim Carrey version?? The mistletoe part was hilarious! "Now pucker up and kiss it Whoville!!!"

  • I liked the Patrick Stuart Christmas Carol

  • If you ever do another Christmas movie list, please include Santa Buddies or at least mention it.

  • @TimberNightSong This isn't the actual critic. Read the description, Sherlock.

  • Why are there 3 parts?

  • Every Christmas Eve, me and my family watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the cartoon) and each time we watch it, the more we love it! :)

BTW, I didn't mind the Jim Carrey version. It actually made me laugh at some parts.

  • I think A Charlie Brown Christmas is my favorite movie, just because of that one line near the end: "Boy, are you stupid Charlie Brown!!"

  • 6. A very funny christmas movie

    5. Good movie. Probably should of have been a little higher

    4. One of the first Christmas movies I ever saw and read. Good choice

    3. I don't know why I like it I just do.

    2. A classic story. I've seen dozens of this special. Even the Anamaniacs have done this story.

    1. A great movie. This is probably something everyone will do when their older and looking back on their childhood.

  • the jim carrey grinch scared the hell out of me as a kid

  • i saw #8 in color once!

  • I did hear that Jim Carrey's grinch is not his best, but it's actually his highest grossing film.

  • where is Gremlins so much Heart

  • @HarryTeichroeb15 It's on the other christmas list number 7.

  • I also like the christmas specials. That's the only time of year where cartoon network do the old stuff and it's not 6 in the morning or last thing at night :) I've always liked the powerpuff girls:the fight before christmas. I must have seen that at least twice a year when it's on

  • where the hell is die hard?

  • The original Grinch cartoon ain't broke, so Ron Howard didn't need to fix it.

  • My personal favorite X-Mas Charol, is the one with Patric Stewert.

  • did anyone else laugh at the part where he shot the annoying talking tree? XD

  • The Nostalgia Critic has different tastes from mine? HOW DARE HE?!!

  • Me personally: Old vs. New of The Grinch

    Best Grinch: Live Action

    Best Max: Animated

    Best Supporting Cast: Live Action

    Best Songs: Animated

    Best Story: Live Action

    Remake wins over Original 3-2

  • I remember days it snowed on Christmas, and seeing that brings memories back.

  • I think the Critic's two Christmas list videos are just as much Christmas specials as anything on either one of the lists. I mean...I watch them around Christmas time just as I would anything else he mentioned and get that warm, fuzzy holiday feeling just the same.

  • -__-

    NIGHTMARE BEFORE FUCKING CHRISTMAS!!!!

    that is all

  • @XxusagibunnyxX Such a good movie!!!! I think it's more of a Halloween movie though, which is probably why it's not on there, but YESSSS :D

  • Heck. Hallmark did a Christmas Carol too. This one had Patrick Stewart.

  • ZETTAI

    RYOUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

  • I hate Christmas movies.

  • I didn't like the Grinch with Jim Carrie either.

  • @Peaceintheeastnow neither did I and I happen to like the animated one better!

  • a christmas story is definitely one of those timeless movies that even i identified w/ when i was a kid. not only that but it was an amazing period piece. they got everything down to the snowflakes making you believe you were in the 50's (i think). and it definitely has many unforgettable moments. good list. and jim carrey's grinch wasn't terrible but i can see why he doesn't like it.

  • I thought my family was the only one that watches a christmas story from the beginning to the the last showing of the year, also I think that Charlie Brown Christmas deserve that number 2 spot, I mean COME ON! Every freakin person in America has had to have seen it once! And I can't have christmas without seeing it!

  • muppets christmas carol FTW!

  • A Christmas Carol is my favorite Christmas fantasy, the one starring George C. Scott being my favorite.

  • 6. I like it but my least favorite of the Vacation movies by John Hughes

    5. Awesome movie very touching

    4. Really good special and I liked the live action as well

    3. I liked it

    2. Only seen Muppets and Mickey's they were both really good

    1. Really really good movie

  • that tree is............bad

  • Watching those clips from a Charlie Brown Christmas literally brought me back to my childhood. No special makes me feel like Christmas (you know the feeling!!) like that one. Were I to make the list, I'd put that at #1. Plus it's the only one in this list that tells the Biblical story of Christmas and, believe it or don't believe it, it is where the holiday came from so it really IS what Christmas is all about. (I'm a Christian btw so yes I do believe it)

  • I can't tell you how many people say the Ron Howard movie is better than the animated. I HATE the Ron Howard movie. The original is the best!

  • Finally, someone else who doesn't like the Jim Carrey Grinch movie. I hate that movie.

  • "I though this was an instructional video!" Now I'm waiting for the Grinch/Frankenstein/Back to the Future mashup.

  • George C. Scott IMO is the Best Scrooge.

    Aliastar Sim 2nd

    Michael Caine 3rd

    Scrooge McDuck....199th

  • I'd put How the Grinch Stole Christmas #2.

  • @GamingTOP10s1

Dude, I didn't even think of Elmo Saves Christmas!

That was an excellent movie and should be recognized!

  • 1) Of all the different adaptations of The Christmas Carol, I loved the Muppets the most.

    2) The 2000 version of the Grinch isn't bad. They manage to make an original version, a credit the genius of Ron Howard!!

  • what about SCROUGED ?

  • I feel so bad because I've never even heard of A Christmas Story, I'll have to check it out.

My all-time favourite Christmas film is Home Alone 1 and 2 back-to-back :) Mostly because my little brother is the spitting image of Culkin in those films (My Girl always kills me too) so it always makes me cry at the end. But I also love how funny and sweet they are. And as a kid I always wished my parents had left me behind with their credit card!

  • i watch national lampoons christmas vacation every year at christmas. its tradition in my family

  • A+++++ A Christmas Story.

  • isn't number six also called "chevy chase's christmas vacation?" if not, don't start bitching about how much of a moron i am, because that's what it says on my vhs cover

  • For my money, the Muppet Christmas Carol was the best adaptation, oddly enough. Michael Caine is the greatest Ebenezer Scrooge ever, the style and presentation are second to none, and the songs are near perfect. Plus, it has humor, and great humor at that. Just my favorite, that's all...

  • No Nightmare Before Christmas? I Love that movie

  • @GamingTOP10s1 No, A Christmas Story is best!

  • At 6:35 OMG it's burger king

  • in my family, its tradition to watch a chrismas story once a day starting on december 1st, and then on christmas day watching it all day. i love that tradition. we also quote it on a regular bases. oh what fun a christmas story brought to my family. :)

  • How can Rudolph not be on this list? I mean he includes a disgusting Christmas-themed south park episode, but not Rudolph?! Gimme a break... Not to mention that a few of the things he talks about were made in the 2000s; not very nostalgic if you ask me.

  • I HATED "a christmas story".... it reminded me so much of the dysfunctional -ness of my family growing up, and nothing about it was memorable charming or endearing. The movie just reminded me that childhood kinda sucks.

  • Charlie Brown Christmas...best one. I watch it every year!!

  • the grinch said errr christmas bad

  • I love the Disney Christmas Carol, because it's the only one the manages to make me cry.

  • My 5 favorites:

    1. It's a Wonderful Life (which is actually my second favorite movie in general)

    2. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966 version)

    3. Miracle on 34th Street (1947 version)

    4. A Christmas Story

    5. A Charlie Brown Christmas

  • wait, the grinch was voiced by Boris Karloff? Awesome.

  • My Dads an Atheist yet he finds "A Christmas story" Irresistible! That's how awesome this movie is!

  • @Cryogenicmonkey sorry monkey but ur dads gonna burrn in hell. maybe ( TROLOLOLOLOL)

  • Nope, #1 is Kiss Saves Santa"!

  • @yourpalal1227 thank you! like star wars christmas special do you know where to get it?

  • My favorite Christmas Carol movies are the Mickey Mouse one and the animated one from the 1970s.

  • My favorite Christmas Carol is the one with Patrick Stewart. =)

  • the grinch talked like frankenstein

  • @RetroGamer10 lol...Because IT IS Frankenstein........or to put it correctly Frankenstein's Monster lol

  • lol

  • i saw a play

it was called Its A Wonderful Life

it was a one man play

    it was awesome

  • I think that Michael Caine should have been in a real adaption of the Christmas Carol, not in the Muppet version. Not that I'm saying the Muppet version was bad but Caines performance was to good to be used in a movie where the cast is manily puppets.

  • Alistair Sims=BEST SCROOGE EVER! Well classic Scrooge. :)

  • Who else watches A Christmas Story every year (or is it just me)?

  • @MrVonKillGore Everyone does! ... Or they better!

  • @MrVonKillGore on tbs

  • You didn't like the Grinch with Jim Carrey? WHY!!!

  • @taranchula97 in my opinion the Jim Carrey version is the best!!!

  • @taranchula97 maybe because the only thing interesting there is Jim Carrey

  • @taranchula97 Agreed. I really enjoyed that remake. To be honest, however, I don't like the original. I do not care for for it really.

  • @taranchula97 Because that version changed the point of the story for the worst.

  • @taranchula97 he should do an NC review on that movie

  • @taranchula97 : tell it that´s is human natur Why Why

  • @taranchula97 he's reviewing it next week

  • @hackensac I can't wait for it but I don't care what the critic says anything with Jim Carrey in it is worth watching.

  • Thanks to Doug, I gave "it's a Wonderful Life" a look and fell IN LOVE with it :)

  • I agree with the NC when I say the Ron Howard version was Pig Shit

  • My favorite "A Christmas Carol" is the one with Captain Picard

  • My grandmother had to explain to me the whole "Mary Baily/Old Maid/Libarerian" thing when I saw this movie: apparently back then it was common for unmarried "homely" women to be libarians. ...........huh?

  • I think Its a Wonderful Life should be number 1, but besides that this is a pretty good list, although I'm surprised there wasn't a single Rankin/Bass special on it

  • @theSuperMetroid Yeah, but although the ending is a classic, I felt really unsatisfied that they didn't tie up the loose ends with Mr. Bower illegally confiscating that money. What a asshole!

  • My family and I watch "It's a Wonderful Life" every Christmas Eve

  • The Critic makes a good point @ 1:18-1:22: It may have been an awful Christmas, but it's the kind of thing that would give the Griswolds a lot of memories to look back on and laugh about over future family gatherings.

I always thought his # 1 choice for this was kind of overrated. I mean, it's funny and deserves its classic status and all, but it just didn't move me the way some of the others listed have.

  • Saturday Night Live presents: the alternate ending to It's A Wonderful Life... watch it... NOW.

  • @SonicSnail95 Yeah, that's awesome!

  • @SonicSnail95 I think I saw that years ago. Don't they all beat the shit out of Potter?

  • @Leatherbubba yup. classic SNL...

"YOU KNOW WHAT I THINK OF YOU POTTER? YOU'RE JUST A SCURVY *kick* LITTLE *kick* SPOIDERR!!! *kick*"

  • lol I thought I was the only one who hid in the closet. Funny, I love watching this Nostalgic episode because Christmas is coming 25 days of Christmas on Family Channel is what I look forward too.

  • The Ron Howard Grinch was not that good, but I thought Jim Carrey was really funny in it.

  • @Leatherbubba yeah... it was a stupid movie... but its FASCINATING to watch... i mean, the original book was only like 15 pages long. they had to create a WHOLE WORLD for it to take place in, and ill be damned if it doesnt look cool at times... sure some parts are creepy (Grinch love interest... eugh...) and you can tell the only people who are trying are Jim Carrey, the dog, and pre-bitch Taylor Momsen, but its an alright movie

  • @SonicSnail95 It's a damn classic compared to the Cat in the Hat movie.
