hey man, real good take again! just wondering you still using your jcm2000 dsl? Im looking to get one, any advice on cabs? I thinkin 2x12 but don't have any experience with them as iv always used combos...any help would b good! cheers bro
Thanks man. I still have the JCM DSL 50. This is recorded on a JCM 800 2204. It depends on what you want in an amp. The 2204 is about the most pure sound from guitar to the amp you can get. The DSL has a little better clean. 2204 cuts through the mix well. It is my main amp now. The DSL is way underrated in my opinion. Great amp that covers a whole lot of ground well.
Matching speakers to an amp head is a trick. I have tried a lot of speaker combinations.
@petsnowflake cheers for the reply...i heard you can get some pretty nice 800 type tones out of the crunch channel tho? the 800s are generally a fair bit more expensive, im going to look at a dsl 50 that is up for £275 or around $420, its not been used much, just sits in this guys recording studio...Seems like it would be a good buy if everything is well like it says in advertisement!?
If you do not like the red gain channel on DSL 50, you can build any tone off of the clean channel. The clean channel is very good. The amp takes pedals extremely well. You will not be unhappy with the DSL 50. If covers so much ground. Easiest amp to bias ever.
I have played so many amps. It is an extremely short list of amps I would take over a DSL 50. Good luck with it. Let me know what you think if you get it. Brandon
Right now I have a G12h30 70th anniversary and a WGS Retro in my 212. I have tried two Vintage 30"s, two G12h30's and other speaker combinations. For the type of music I play, the combo now fits the 2204 head.
It is such a tough call because tone is so subjective. The tone I like and what you think is good tone, could be two worlds apart. I want to try a set of Greenbacks. They are only rated at 25 watts though. Would not try them in 212 cab with 2204 head. Peace. Brandon
