  • no no, everything was faster back in the day.

  • Yay~~~ I'm playing this with my friend right now! So fun! XD

  • My orchestra is playing this right now. I'm a cello player. God the 2nd movement is so boring for us! A couple measures in the beginning and a couple at the end, but there's like 40+ bars of rest for us in the middle.

  • Isn't this TOO slow for baroque music?

  • @FloripanoBR

IMHO, not. The modern interpretations are too fast, especially for me.

AFAIK, the whole life was slower in older age.

    ;)

  • @tnsnamesoralong: Too fast? This is Vivaldi. Everything is fast.

Also, the first movement is Allegro. This is about Moderato. So even the original sheet music says it's fast.

  • @PianoMasta7 I understand that allegro is faster than moderato, but who and how define: what is allegro or moderato exactly without metronom? ;)

I think: this question not such simple

  • @tnsnamesoralong: It's a play style. You don't need a metronome ticking. In an orchestral or symphonic environment, each player keeps their own metronome in their head to keep up with everyone else. So when it's Allegro, everyone knows, "Okay, there's this many beats in a measure and it's this long for rests and notes."

  • @PianoMasta7

Sorry, I don't agree with you.

  • What violin grade level would this be?

  • @TheNarniaFreak

I think it would be about grade 9 ish, maybe 8....

  • @soccerballmagnet I play violin but I have never heard of "grades"

  • @GameFrosts Well, I mean RCM Exam grades.

  • @soccerballmagnet oh, how hard is 8? what grade would double concerto in d minor (bach) be?

  • can u please send me the link for music sheet on my email?

  • For the record, tempi we take now in modern music do -not- match with tempi taken in the period the music, like Vivaldi, was written. Music has gotten faster per tempi as we've developed in virtuosity skill and our instruments have been improved to withstand things like metal strings and so forth. I like this tempo, for the time, but if I want to hear a -modern- interpretation, then I like it faster.

  • Prefer faster, not this robotic to-the-exact-tempo interpretation. Excellent song though.

  • I see but I have got another opinion. I don't like the modern people's fast tempo in the Vivaldi music. It loose much details during (fast) interpretation.

  • I love this piece, I prefer the faster version by Kennedy though, I think he really gives the piece its character and flair, he really plays it how I like to hear Vivaldi, with all the vivacity and excitement it deserves. Vivaldi still amazes me how he gets away with writing simple music yet sounds so rich, so enjoyable to listen to, I have listen to him for many years, one of my first loves, I also like the 4 Violiln concerto.

  • Glad i found your videos! I play cello but i'm sure i can bump the solo violin part down an octave or 2 for fun. subscribed.

  • clever to put the score on. we can play along with it now :)

  • I love this piece. I'm tempted to try and play along with the music.
