I think its dumb that people are talking trash about Ford when its the owners fault that he either cant launch or has a bad tune. If this was a stock Mustang that had a turbo that did that, ok, then talk trash about Ford. Till then, all those that talk crap show their ignorance.
@Floordford I have to agree there, im not a ford fan but ya basically this is the owners fault. Could have been alot of things but it aint fords fault.
@Kronis72 no, it makes perfect sense for fuel to ignite in the intake. Use your fucking head. That's what a back fire is. People tend to call fuel igniting in the exaughst a back fire, but that is not the proper term for it. That's just excess fuel burning off and causes no harm.
Go learn what valve overlap is, then it will all make sense.
Blew my turbo and that's not what happens, u get a ton of cool bluish smoke coming out the back of your car like you're a Fucking Air Force Thunderbird! Thought it was my engine at first so had a panic attack, then upgraded to a stage 5 so it's bitter/SWEET. Another vid that makes me appreciate the guys who can keep a camera on the action.
LOL....turbos don't pop. Seals deteriorate and the bearings give out, causing oil and and coolant to race into your intake and exhaust, creating tons of smoke out of your exhaust pipe and the eventual shutdown of the engine when the oil and coolant makes its way into the combustion chamber. It also makes it really hard for anyone driving behind you to see while you pull into the closest parking lot before the shutdown =D . Been there. Done that. Nitrous is just silly too...as seen in the vid =P
there is no way thats a turbo letting lose and a car motor cant build that kinda boost like that, depending on wat side of the turbo want the motor would for the most part still run, and o did i say its cuz its a ford.... junk
They suck the air and then compress it and force it into the engine... that's where the pressure builds up... I still believe it's not the turbo... car engines aren't that much powerful enough to build that pressure in the turbocharger...
that doesnt have anything to do with it, drag racing turbos are literally pushed to the limit with EFI and water to air intercoolers pushing out more than 30 lbs of boost
Man oh man, it can happen to anyone. Tuning is fucking hard, especially when you're trying to safely get a full race tune out of an engine. It's not like overclocking a CPU or something, or GPU, ya know, there's no steps. You really gotta caution yourself, and just leave the fucking spray alone.
I've never used spray, never, I've owned many cars but only around 5 that matter, and still have two highly tuned cars, one street tuned. I use NO spray, it's unpredictable even with the best setup.
Why would you say such a thing, how could you be so presumptuous?
Secondly, what I stated is opinion. Unless you're questioning my other comment, although I doubt it.
You go ahead and defend the pussy juice all you like. I race circuit, not drag, and I don't street race, so I've never needed spray. So you're saying it's NOT unpredictable? Who the hell likes to tune a car with NOS? Few will, who wants to be responsible for replacing an engine? You're a friggin joke, and you don't know me.
nos is easy to work with , you just have to know the limits. all it really does is add mor oxygen to the works, and it demands more fuel to equal out the effects. people just abuse it and think its a miracle maker, i know peopel who have gotten a more consistent and benificial effect from water/methanol injection . id chose longevity any day over a few hp.
LOL..thinks they know a lot. LOL.. at least i can spell. and im here to help people and learn . not to be a douche bag like you . so if you want to share , go for it , if you want to be a punk , keep it to yourself . im actually capable of having a conversation , i dont have to go to sad attempts to rouse an arguement, obviously your pathetic and inbread/mildly retarted. so ill leave it at that . but we can continue if youd like. id rather stay on topic. keep " thinking " your slick.your not
Nitrous, is a shot of Nitrous Oxide to the engine, whcih increases combustion, until the bottle runs out.. increasing oxygen is what Turbo's / Supercharers are used for... :)
What? lol, that didn't sound wrong to you as you thought it, in your head? Nitrous is a shot of Oxygen? Do you know what Nitrous Oxide is? How it burns?
Dude please educated yourself before you post such grotesque things. I mean, I can't believe someone would be able to say that without realizing how ignorant it is.
I mean, is it just me or does it drive anyone else here crazy that there are people this stupid? It's nuts, how can someone think such a thought without the logic alarm going off?
Nitrous oxide, also known as dinitrogen oxide or dinitrogen monoxide, is a chemical compound with chemical formula N2O. And did you know that Nitrous Oxide in a test tube will re-ignite a smoldering splint.
Jeez you comment on such an old post... Congrats on knowing what NOS is, like it's so hard to simple wiki it anyways.... At least contribute something rather than reply to my very old post with nonsense.
Lets drop it nobody really knows what went wrong until they had a look at it, maybe the OP knows with a certainty, but that doesn't look like a blown turbo, they can break but they don't do that! That's more serious IMO. I've had more than one turbo fail between all the Saabs I've owned, and well regardless I've never seen anything like that happen. Looks more like just a blown engine, exactly what who knows, could have blown a piston thru the block, or simply blew the intake off the car.
theres a lot more to it than that my friend, yes it adds O2 , since it does that , more fuel is needed beyond what a 1:1 fmu can deal with accurately, and timing needs to be modified wether be through an box , or manually on the cas/dist with a primary tune , and a nos tune on a switchable system like wot or toggle.
nitrous is basically air in a bottle if u wanna understand it more, not flammale...now, if u heat up the bottle with the nitrous in it it will go boom, just like any canned food on a stove compressed air goes boom when heated
the only was for a nitrous back fire to occur is if the the person engages the nitrous before the turbo spools, creating a bigger pressure surge, and allows the nitrous to go through the turbo gap, destroying the turbo, and exploding out the rear from the hot exhaust gas, since nitrous is highly flammable. meaning the turbo exploded.
Nitrous is not flammable, it cools the air and during combustion the n2o splits into nitrogen and oxygen, resulting in a shitload of cold ass oxygen in your cylinders, providing a massive boost of torque and horsepower

ahhhh no. look again. mustangs have alluminum blocks. or else this wudnt have happend. besides skylines are better cos even if u completly beef out their power they can still be used at full power on a track.
well a dead give away is the wieght. no way can a 5l v8 cast iron block + car shell = 3300lb. but also wiki 'ford mustang' go down nd u will find this quote
"The Mustang GT features an aluminum block 4.6 L SOHC 3-valve Modular V8"
Aluminum blocks are much more favorable. Just because a block is made of aluminum does not make it weaker. Aluminum saves weight, dissipates heat more efficiently, and alum. blocks are generally braced in the oil galley for strength. Cast iron blocks and aluminum blocks are sleeved the same, although better materials may be used with the aluminum block. Besides this stang's turbo blew, not the block. You would look like less of an ass if you actually knew what you were talking about.
Hell yeah bro! I have a 1966 Dodge D100 Step side, with the original 318 V8, I found in a field!! It now has A/C and power steering which had to be done custom of course b/c they didn't have that back then. And it was done by me. I have been slowly restoring it but the only things needed to be restored is the paint, radio, suspension, and the wooden bed. The engine still runs strong and the frame is still straight! That old 318 will still light up the tires though! :D MOPAR FTW!!!
Rock on man! And hell yeah, the ol' 318 will outlast the 350 small block even, a really reliable GM engine (I like GM, too, and own a 1990 Chevy Silverado 1500 half-ton with a long bed. I'll put up a video of it running and the engine later. Check it out in the morning or w.e.) but i've had a W-100 before with the 318. It was a '78, and I could light up brand new 33" boggers easily. It had a 60 cfm Edelbrock carb, and Hooker Hedders with nothing past them, lol.
NOS explosion. you can see it. damn people are dumb and I have seen my fair share in person. and I have seen a turbo explode but that is so rare and DOES NOT look like that. and he hit the spray off the line like a lot of outlaw cars do.

@Polybun those are kind of more rare than normal backfires.. like in the exhaust mani
jaredb87 1 year ago
@jaredb87 Not really. All it takes is for the engine to go lean for a moment and BANG. Very common on carburated engines.
In the case of this car, it's obviously the case in this video, probably due to a badly installed or designed nitrous system.

Same here, brother. Keep it domestic, but go MOPAR. MOPAR or NOCAR.
