The Vee-Jay Original Recordings Of The Songs " Oh What A Night " (1956 ) And " Stay In My Corner " ( 1965 ) Are Much More Superior Than The Cadet Rerecorded Versions
@therehastobeme: NO, NO, NO...I totally disagree. Bobby Miller reworked the hell out the arrangements for both "Stay In My Corner" and "Oh! What a Night. The Cadet recordings are the definitive versions without question.
The rhythm section on this track was Warren Hagood (drums), Sidney Pinchback (guitar), and me, David Henderson (bass). Warren and Sidney are on the new version as well. I don't know where I was the day they made the new recording but I feel slighted, but hey thats life.
Timeless...what else can I say.......words that say what I want to say to wife of 30 years....Stay In My Corner...til my eyes are closed and breath leaves my body....
@stevenbogarat not everybody has someone to stay in there corner these days which is pretty sad. these days noeone has respect for a relationship everybody thinks the grass is greener on the other side but it really aint. let me leave you with the reallist quote i ever heard which happens to be a song by Smokey it was said that you cant have ecstasy without the agony
Johnny Carter was still doing his most beautiful falsetto runs for the Flamingos at this time in 55'-57' . Then he replaced Johnny Funches when he died .
All my homegirls from high school remember me with this song, it was one of my favorites and now Im an exec at a big company and we all laugh that my colleagues cant imagine the bad ass ruca I used to be, lol! I still love thes songs though, those were some good times ay.
The original 1965 version of the song that became a classic hit for them when recorded for Cadet in 1968. This version for the Vee Jay label went to #23 on Billboard's R&B charts.
I love this song. It reminds me of my love.

wcc181 Why am I reading things like "this is the shit",,I know you mean it's good BUT can't you and others find another way of expressing that??
THEMOJOMANsince1959 2 years ago
yes you are correct. I apologize for using that type of language to describe such classic music.
