One of the rules of spanish is: if "c" comes with "e" or "i" the pronunciation is: "the" and "thi", but if it comes with "a", "o" or "u", the pronunciation is "ka", "ko" and "ku". No matter if "s" comes with "a", "e", "i","o" o "u" because it always will be pronunce as "s". Children learn this with 6 years old.
