Ladybugs are indeed native to America. There are a few species that are recent invaders however. As for the spots, the number is fixed for some species, but it mostly varies like hair color would in humans.
Although multicolored Asian lady beetles can be a nuisance when they occur in large numbers, they do not damage homes or other property. These lady beetles cannot sting and they do not carry disease. They can pinch the skin and cause minor, short-lived discomfort. They can secrete a strong smelling yellowish liquid from the joints of their legs, a process called reflex bleeding. They use this to discourage predators or at other times when they are stressed.
looks like you have an extremely dangerous infestation of, not ladybugs, but "poison, black-spotted-redneck-beetles". they are dangerous, and may start nesting in your house! if you touch them the poison cells on the tips of their legs make a chemical reaction with your skin and rot it. so buy pesticides and extremely harmful bug-killing environmentally UNfriendly chemicals for only $119.23¢
those arn't ladybugs, it is a chinese beetle ( a lookalike of the ladybug) and they get into everything. they like to like in peoples homes.
