Saulo and Jake Shields are both great grapplers. I have no doubt Shields will become a dominant welterweight in the UFC, however, his match against Kampmann will be difficult indeed as Kampmann is also a great grappler.

Jake Shields is a King Kong welterweight and a top 5-6 MW in MMA. He is a top 5 Submission fighter.

He has respect for grappling and for his opponents.

He told reporters that Marcello was the best and he would like another chance to roll with him.

He is a good rep for the primal place grappling in fighting/ self defense.

I think this frees up dudes inner bjj cuz in a normal fight you won't pull guard unless you see something, or your getting crushed in stand up

JS submitted Leo Santos who Garcia could not score a point against. Everybody has different weakness and strength and it's no use comparing fighters on one aspect of the game.

All we can say is JS has been leading a lot better MMA career than both Marcelo and Saulo did.

last time i checked Garcia still won against Santos and shields.

but what you a have said is true nonetheless

jake shields is definitely one of the best when it comes to MMA. but as high as his level in Jiujitsu, Grappling and MMA is just two entirely different games.

just as JS was confused on how marcelo was able to sink that choke in PSL and just as how marcelo was unable to sink that choke when he had his opponents back in pro MMA debut.

have absolutely the utmost respect for both.

@Donpaeng im guessing that the gloves they wear in MMA make it a lot easier to defend against the choke.

well it's definitely easier to defend a choke with mma gloves,

just like how a fight becomes easier if you know what your opponent wants to do.

what was amazing though is how his opponent was able to escape from back control.

I don´t need to ask anything to nobody. I´ve seen Saulo figth live and trained with Marcelo. You should start by knowing who Marcelo Garcia is...

There is nothing wrong with being better than other on this sport.

If you know JS, ask him about Marcelo or Saulo. I´m sure he will pay respect for them.
