  • A little depressing for a wedding song, don't you think? My interpretation of this song is that his lover is dying, and he's telling her she can't take anything with her to Heaven besides his love.

  • Love the tags! I read them like this:

    Vast, you rock!

  • Or, we could just talk about the song instead of the comments..:p this is a beautiful song..

  • Music to die to.

  • I brought myself here.

  • Haaa, the awesome feeling of having found some new great music, so rare but so good :)

  • @justincuth Its ok man. Its a good song to play at your wedding. just make sure your new husband shaves before you kiss. :D

  • It's like I'm high (but I'm not) while listening to this song. Awesome!

  • @moviemom4 lol i am :D :D :D

  • @moviemom4 so you are high :D

  • Saw them last year in Birmingham UK in a tiny club with about 300 other people. One of the best gigs of my life.

  • Saw them live back in 98' NYC. Won tickets from WSOU! Good show.

  • This and "Flames"...

    Pure awesomeness.

  • @disgiuzedtk92 true.I have years of experience in identifying shitposters.

  • anyone know how I can get this song? it's not on itunes :(

  • @ellexfashion

I'd try looking for it around the internet, free downloads, etc.

Besides that, there's no other way unless you purchase the album.

  • @ellexfashion realvast.com...goodluck

  • This song is magic!

  • 11 people have a VAST amount of space within their skulls.

  • sometimes, a cigar really is , just a cigar

  • I absolutely LOVE Vast. To add to the theme of Eggmandu's previous post, I too have a wide spectrum of tastes. I predominantly love Death, Black, and other forms of Metal music. I also love NIN and other such music.

Greatness is typified by its ability to be recognized by all. This is great music, despite anyone's proclivities in typical musical fare.

  • I'm a Brit who's musical tastes mostly include mid-90's Britpop. But due to circumstances that would take far too many Youtube characters to get into, I also totally adore VAST. I don't put boundries on my musical tastes.

  • WHAT A BEAUTIFUL FUCKING VOICE!!!!!!!

  • 11 People Are Not #Winning

  • 11 people got lost in the VASTness of a black hole.

  • Gosto muito!!!

  • My beautiful husband introduced me to Vast not so long ago. I will introduce Vast to many of my friends back in England. Simply beautiful and diverse.

  • Crying. So beautiful.

  • I love how people hate on religion. And I love how people hate on atheism. And I love how people hate other people's viewpoints. I love how people hate to follow the golden rule. Grow up. Get over it. If you do what makes you feel good, why can't other people? If religion burns you, then ignore it. It's not hard. Love what you love and avoid what you don't. Hate never made anyone a better person.

  • @Talrose

I love how people act like fucking hippies and pretend to be "above it all" when they're engaging in it themselves- what do you think you're doing now you fucking moron? Wake up and smell the shit.

  • @MYV382N If you truly feel that way, then I'm sorry you have to go through life all messed up. Seek counseling.

Now let's turn the focus back to the song and not squabbling. This song is amazing.

  • @Talrose

No darling.. YOU seek counselling. It's time you forgot about your flower power. Welcome to the real world.

  • @MYV382N Yeah, I agree the song is pretty good.

  • @Talrose

Since we're being mature, not as good as your mum C:

  • this song was in my ipod like 3 years ago, then i lost the ipod. glad i found this again!

  • this song reminds me so much of Legden of the seeker... anybody agree?

  • Beautiful Work. I could care less about the comments/fights ppl try to start on these things. I do enjoy Vast tho^.^

  • intense and deep - which is basically what i love about most of Vast's music

  • i just got in extasis with this....

  • I'm gonna play this song at my wedding when I get married.

    I'm a guy and I just wrote that :O

  • @justincuth a bit slow 4 a wedding but sweet idea:)

  • @justincuth You do realize this is a song about somebody's lover dying, right?

  • @magnificentchasto that insight makes the song so much better. thanks!

  • @RoadsideMuse I hope you're trolling.

  • @justincuth Its all good. Hahahaha!

  • @justincuth Ya homo :D

  • @justincuth OH MY GOD, A GUY WROTE SOMETHING ABOUT HIS FEELINGS, MAKE A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT!! OH GOD...get over yourself -_-

  • @SavageBezerkEclipse It's not even about his feelings. More like....

OMG A GUY WROTE SOMETHING ABOUT MUSIC SELECTION FOR AN EVENT HE'S PLANNING

    Or....

OMG A GUY SAID THE WORD MARRIAGE

  • @yunikage Hah. But no, it was slightly about his feelings, as the joke/stupidity of today's society is that Guys aren't allowed or have no feelings and its quite irritating to say the least

  • @justincuth I just read your comment and giggled. you go guy!

  • @justincuth Ignore all the negative losers and trolls who have nothing better to do than insult you over a statement that was meant to be nice. I agree, it's a beautiful song.

  • Thank you Indian. Vast is an awesome band and should be coddled as a child suckling a nipple from their mothers breats. : P 8:

  • @dangel6667 Why?

  • @lipsofashes86 ..........

  • I started listening to VAST in 2000 or 2001. I have no idea how my friend discovered them, but I didn't appreciate this song until the last year or so--now it's one of my favorites. So good.

  • hate this song for everthing i am...+10 brillaint

  • moving...thank you doing this song.

  • Vast is Vast...

  • @jasonbourneabc123 You said it:)

  • I never felt like I would feel this way about anyone. This song really fits how I feel about my girlfriend. I'm so deeply in love with her.

  • I walked down the aisle to this song for my wedding...it is a very beautiful song..

  • Oh this song makes me cry. Beautiful skill.

  • i know this song

  • Oh my word. This is...beautiful. ♥ (': Absolutely, beautiful.

  • Religion and science don't need to conflict

  • They should come down to Brazil.

  • Music for people!

  • to BattleRoyaleChampion: If you don't believe in god because the Earth is dying, shouldnt you think theres a reason..? and, please, stfu. this is a beautiful song to enjoy, not a song of religious debate.

  • The reason is people are selfish, not devine intervention.

  • Its crazy people still believe in 'god' these days.

Yeah just ignore evolution. The earths probably flat too.

  • Comment removed

  • @BattleRoyaleChampion haha that made me literally lol

  • Again Vast is <3

  • I think V.A.S.T was in somthing called "the god project" about influencing all the religions who promote god.....im an athiest and I still like them

  • All these fights on youtube comments are really getting draining. You cant even read the comments on videos without seeing some sort of fight, or serious negativity. What has happened to people? that's all I want to know. Why fight over religion too people? I understand you want to spread the word of god, or proove your point, but... youll never show someone god, by explaining it to them. They will find god when they really want to find him. He will show himself to them if they seek him.

  • Thanks for posting this song, great beautiful song!

  • I was born January 13th. So thanks for something that makes me want to have more birthdays.

  • And the fool has said in his heart there is no God!

  • "just my veiw though"

Well, an idiot can claim the sky is held up by matchsticks and even though it's his veiw, he'd be an idiot nonetheless. And Europa is one of the moons of Jupiter. You wanted to say "Europe"

  • @Ipanophis LOL..good observation!!!! & an excellant point as well

  • you ppl should really learn to enjoy the beauty of some songs by all these dumb comments and debates u ppl kill the beauty of it.

  • @disgiuzedtk92 Preach on! So stupid to have a religious debate on youtube.

  • @disgiuzedtk92 your posting kills the beauty of everything

  • @VestigialThumb you would know.

  • @disgiuzedtk92 you dont have to read it :)

  • i also like the lyrics ;D

  • This song is just incredible. I totally lose myself when I close my eyes and listen..

  • beautiful

  • Wow, this is beautiful.

  • lol tepes62 and eightbitgnosis, awsome

  • My god came with a new toaster

  • christ..in this day and age we still have this bible shit debate....do you know how many man made religions there were before christianity?we created religions in order to give explanations that we were not creative enough to have the answers to...its been used to subjugate peoples ..and at its best..it can serve as an allegory on how to conduct yourself..me personally I hope there is a god so I can punch him in the face...and then anally rape him...I hope hell is everything its cracked up to be

  • This song doesn't have a perspective. Unless it's one of those junky pop songs with the message spelled out right out in the lyrics (coughmileycyruscoughcough) then it's open to any interpretation, not one definite explanation. Besides, I don't think the song is that easily deciphered.

  • For real. VAST is a true artist, and fuck anyone who thinks they can just waltz along and stuff words into his mouth.

  • Don't drag religion into this anymore than it already has been. And btw read your Bible. Hell isn't a place of eternal suffering. It's a straight drop into a burning lake. That's it.

  • @SwordSamuraiWhisper6 hullo...just read your post, interesting view you have..not sure which version of the bible you read, I have at least 4 different ones i read and study from myself , but I thought you might find these verses interesting...Matt 10:28, Matt 25:46, and Rev 14:11...hope these help you get a better understanding of hell..have a blessed night or day ..depending on when you get this..hehe

  • i like the dante version, even before i read that i've always been a fan of a lake of ice.

  • @MystrEshade Hell is the christian corruption of Hel, a Germanic cthonic goddess of the underworld in whose domain the souls of those who weren't slain in battle went. It was not a place of suffering or pain, just a place of afterlife.

  • i think the Bible is an older source and so the Germanic's corrupted the Biblical version..just my view though..thanks for the reply have a good one

  • I don't, considering that the bible is not the proven word of a proven god.

The nature-based religions preceded the judeo-christian ones, that is historical fact and there are rune stones scattered all over Europa which document tails of the Gods and Goddesses of that particular culture.

No animosity, just some insight :)

  • We know you don't get it. That's why you're a Christian.

  • I don't appreciate your biased statements. I am a christian, and I love science. I just don't find evolution commendable. It's people like you that make this world a place of hate.

Why don't you accept people's beliefs? If you want certain people to accept homosexuality or the way you live, why don't you accept theirs?

  • @paleopeneyes

Not all of us don't get it. Fundamentalists, should never be the basis of reflection upon any stand point, of any view. There are plenty of good christians, who embrace things like homosexuality, and science and reality. -Waves- It's a pleasure to meet you. -Wink-

  • Because falling in love breaks forever and nothing else will do. I am sure.

  • omg i love this song

  • If you like this song A LOT, like me, you should listen to the song "underneath the stars" by The Cure On the underworld: Rise Of The Lycans Album" it sounds similar to this :)

  • lots of books in here.. this album was awsome when i was 16 on acid watchin the stars twirl with my girl

  • This song is coming from the perspective of a Christian who falls for a girl that isn't. Due to his belief system, he doesn't think she will be in heaven after death. This song is about the grief he feels due to that situation, because he won't see her there.

  • Why thumbs down? Just because it's Christian? That's immature. But anyway, I agree. This song can be taken in a majority of different ways, but this description sounds like it fits the lyrics a lot. "Why are you going to be outside eternity?" What does that sound like? Like she's not going to heaven, and he wants her to be. If you disagree, state your reasons and don't be a wuss, just thumbing people down whom you don't agree with. It's only a fair argument when you do so.

  • Who says it's Christian? VAST music is just as much Muslim, Atheist, Jewish, and Anasazi, etc. as it is Christian. In other words its not religious. Get your false deity out of here.

  • I agree with you. I cant stand it when people turn almost EVERY LITTLE THING or song into some sort of religious debate. If anything, Vast's music is more or less open to ARTISTIC interpretations, rather than that of religion.

  • @JamesThurmond25 absolutely, guess they don't have a sense of beauty, only a religious

    self - righteousness; pity

  • @JamesThurmond25 I think V.A.S.T was in somthing called "the god project" about influencing all the religions who promote god.....im an athiest and I still like them...this sounds kinds of makes me cringe because he said that her eyes look like they're of god....

  • @JamesThurmond25 look up the music video's for almost any song by Tool, that's artistic interpretation lol

  • More importantly, the person he loved died. "Your dress looks good on you, my love/And your house looks like it's Heaven, Why are there so many people outside of it?"

It's about getting to her house for a funeral (or to find out that she's just died). It kind of mourns the things he gave her. He mentions being outside of eternity because their life together forever has been interrupted.

  • @alarikmarcus That's pretty much how I interpret it. I loved listening to this song [the music is just gorgeous] and then I really listened to the lyrics and realized... "He's talking about someone who's died." Still a beautiful song, but now much more emotional [for me].

  • why was this downvoted? sounds like a reasonable interpretation! come up with your own if you know better

  • You know this for sure? Because the lyrics can mean many things.

  • this blows me away completely.

    how amazing.

  • I interpreted this to be a stunningly beautiful song about life after death. Whatever the meaning, this is brilliant work. Every song Vast does is atmospheric and epic in scope, yet intimate due to Jon Crosby's soft, clean vocals.

  • Totally Agree :)

  • Brilliant...it's so soothing...

  • his music is no less tha beautiful magic <3

  • Love music like this.

  • Beautiful.

~Crosby is just as amazing live as on track

  • This song is Amazing i love Vast wish they came to eastcoast tristate area!!!

  • Another song I haven't heard in forever! It's really powerful to rediscover music that once prominently featured in your own soundtrack

  • thumbs down revan1992x, if only i could give you two of them with only one profile.

  • Haha, why? I like this piece, but you can't denie the fact.

  • so right, this songs great and a blast ta be high while iz playing.

  • I Love this song....

  • Cudo !!!!!! :)

  • This song is very touching, beautiful!

I know it from a video called "Chaperon" very cool stuff, if you like watch the creation of a drawing and the song fits the video perfectly.

  • I get goosebumps every time I listen to this song. It never ceases to amaze me.

    It captures me.

  • I just found this... I can't stop playing it. I feel so inspired.

  • What a lovely song!!!

Especially on the end of the first album, which was rather crude and violent compared to the later ones (still, maybe that's why it's my favorite).

That bell-sound always reminds me on LBA:)

  • I absolutely love VAST. Anyone know of any similar bands they'd like to suggest? Eager for music as awe-inspiring as this. XD

  • GONG

  • Ayamin, try Devin Townsend's 'Terria' and another Devin project, Ocean Machine -'Biomech.' Also check out a band called Saigon Kick and their song 'I Love You' here on YouTube.

  • Yes..I thought you would never ask!!

Try the band M83 and their songs: Skin of the night, Lower your eyelids to die with the sun, Carresses, We own the sky and By the kiss (please look at my playlists under "M83"

    Also look for these bands:

Tangerine Dream, Mike Oldfield, Sigur Ros, Massive Attack, KC Hayling, Jean Michel Jarre, Boards of Canada (Dayvan Cowboy), Moby and his songs like "18" "Memory Gospel" "God Moving Across The Face Of The Waters"

  • check Múm

  • das beste lied von VAST ist immer noch Touched!!!!!!!!!!

  • genialer song...kann man sich drin verlieren...

  • one man, one genius

  • VAST sure knows how to deliver simple, yet meaningful and beautiful music.

  • well i agree with the end of your statement, but arranging string sections and orchestras is hardly simple. the man is a true genuis.

  • the music seems to sing the very words that he is singing... haunting and beautiful.

  • love it!

  • This song is somewhat haunting, but it's such a great song

  • Awesome record start-to-finish by one of the best artists of our time. (IMHO) Met him at Guitar Center in Detroit back in 99'. Gave me tickets to his show. Thought for sure he would blow up big, but never quite did.
