First off, this is some wonderful playing. It's like I can see your fingertips slipping from the strings to make the notes.
And the uke. I love the rosette and purfling pattern. It reminds me of Piet Mondrian's "Broadway Boogie Woogie" paintings. You can "see" the music in it. Exquisite stuff!
I came up with this tune the first night I had the uke. It just seemed to come from nowhere while I was fiddling around enjoying the sound of this wonderful instrument.
That Scott Wise uke is prob one of the best ukes i've seen come out of Australia but i'm just wondering how you would compare/rate its tone, VOLUME, and build quality with your kanilea or any other k-brands you may have?
I would definitely rate the tone, volume and build quality of Scott's ukes as being easily as good or better than any uke I have ever played or heard. I traded my Kanilea to buy this uke.
I have only written tab for one of my instrumentals (not this one). If you give me an email address to attach a file to I will send it to you and if I ever get around to tabbing any of the others I will send them as well.
That's a really lovely sounding uke Derek! You must be really happy with it. Congratulations! Beautiful playing of this song, and lovely writing as well. You write such lovely instrumental pieces.
Nice Derek. Beautiful tune, uke and playing. I am stuck with my sixty year old Gretch and am jealous of all the refined ukes I see you guys playing. On the other hand, the way I play, I would probably break any one of them.
I like your new uke. It was a solid trade! (Are you very far from Sydney?) I know that you are modest about your playing, but that was beautiful. It's a very appealing, very sweet tune, and you play it skillfully. Like Ken, I wish to see you play live if at all possible. It would be nice to put a face to the music. I recently found a great deal on an H2 and I am anxiously awaiting it's arrival.
What a rambling message. Must have been influenced by your title!
No, not a custom, just a lovely instrument made by an Australian luthier. I've been wanting one of his ukes for over a year now so when I saw one for sale at a music shop in Sydney I was on the phone straight away.
I traded my Kanilea tenor on this uke. It was an equally lovely instrument but I prefer concert and soprano size so I just wasn't playing it enough. No chance of that with this one.
The camera I was using to record video died a while ago and I've been having trouble getting my new video camera to talk to my computer so I haven't bothered recording video for a while. I probably should do something about it, I know I like to see what people are doing with their hands when I listen to a tune.
such beautiful sounds! Scott Wise is amazing. Also your playing is great :) can't stop listening! haha

Right this time. It's got the most amazing stripes that are very similar to some koa ukes I've seen.

One of the most beautiful uke tones I've ever heard!
Modest curly koa is also beautiful.
