  • such beautiful sounds! Scott Wise is amazing. Also your playing is great :) can't stop listening! haha

  • @senatorkaty Thanks for listening and for the nice comment.

    Scott makes wonderful instruments!

  • Another beautiful composition! :-) That uke sounds fantastic! :-) X

  • this is really nice... i loved the tones of the ukelele...5*

  • Thanks so much!

    It's a lovely instrument.

  • The uke sounds great! Real "woody." This is a good thing.

  • Thankyou!

It's a wonderful instrument in every way. It sounds great, looks amazing and is well set up so it's easy to play.

  • love that song love that uku also thanks

  • Cheers!

    I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • First off, this is some wonderful playing. It's like I can see your fingertips slipping from the strings to make the notes.

And the uke. I love the rosette and purfling pattern. It reminds me of Piet Mondrian's "Broadway Boogie Woogie" paintings. You can "see" the music in it. Exquisite stuff!

    Thanks

  • Thanks so much Bruce!

I came up with this tune the first night I had the uke. It just seemed to come from nowhere while I was fiddling around enjoying the sound of this wonderful instrument.

  • wow cool tune and beautiful uke!

That Scott Wise uke is prob one of the best ukes i've seen come out of Australia but i'm just wondering how you would compare/rate its tone, VOLUME, and build quality with your kanilea or any other k-brands you may have?

    Cheers, and keep on rocking!

  • Thanks!

I would definitely rate the tone, volume and build quality of Scott's ukes as being easily as good or better than any uke I have ever played or heard. I traded my Kanilea to buy this uke.

  • Wonderful sound. Beautiful melody. You have a lovely touch. Where can I get all your tabs? Inspiring.

  • Thankyou so much!

I have only written tab for one of my instrumentals (not this one). If you give me an email address to attach a file to I will send it to you and if I ever get around to tabbing any of the others I will send them as well.

  • oops, probably blackwood?

  • Right this time. It's got the most amazing stripes that are very similar to some koa ukes I've seen.

  • One of the most beautiful uke tones I've ever heard!

Modest curly koa is also beautiful.

  • That's a really lovely sounding uke Derek! You must be really happy with it. Congratulations! Beautiful playing of this song, and lovely writing as well. You write such lovely instrumental pieces.

  • Thankyou Michelle!

I think I've found my perfect uke. I hope the others don't get jealous.

  • Terrific Derek. Makes me think of a bright Spring morning,

  • Thanks!

    I'm glad you liked it.

  • Very nice music!

  • Thanks!

  • Nice song. I love the binding and the Hawaiian style back on your uke.

  • Cheers!

  • Nice Derek. Beautiful tune, uke and playing. I am stuck with my sixty year old Gretch and am jealous of all the refined ukes I see you guys playing. On the other hand, the way I play, I would probably break any one of them.

  • Thanks Ed.

Your uke sounds fine to me.

It's how you play it that matters most.

  • Very nice. I have a h4 and still have not figured out all that it has to offer! Beautiful original!

  • Thankyou!

I only use the basic settings on the H2 and it seems to do the job nicely.

  • Very nice, both the playing and the uke!

  • Thanks very much.

  • that uke looks great. excellent playing.

  • Thanks Russ.

  • beautiful!

  • Thankyou Stephen.

  • Congrats on the new uke. Sounds and looks beautiful!

  • Thanks deach!

I couldn't be happier. My UAS is cured temporarily.

  • I like your new uke. It was a solid trade! (Are you very far from Sydney?) I know that you are modest about your playing, but that was beautiful. It's a very appealing, very sweet tune, and you play it skillfully. Like Ken, I wish to see you play live if at all possible. It would be nice to put a face to the music. I recently found a great deal on an H2 and I am anxiously awaiting it's arrival.

What a rambling message. Must have been influenced by your title!

  • Beautiful playing sir!

  • Cheers mate! Thanks for listening.

  • the H2's are awesome aren't they!

    Well played :)

  • Cheers Kenny!

The H2 is like a compact camera to me, just point and shoot!

  • Beautiful tune -- beautiful playing -- beautiful uke (custom made?)

  • Thanks Michael.

No, not a custom, just a lovely instrument made by an Australian luthier. I've been wanting one of his ukes for over a year now so when I saw one for sale at a music shop in Sydney I was on the phone straight away.

I traded my Kanilea tenor on this uke. It was an equally lovely instrument but I prefer concert and soprano size so I just wasn't playing it enough. No chance of that with this one.

  • Beautiful song ! (and uke)

    Val

  • Thanks Val.

The tune was inspired by the uke!

  • Lovely piece and so clearly recorded. What about seeing you play it?

  • Thanks Ken.

The camera I was using to record video died a while ago and I've been having trouble getting my new video camera to talk to my computer so I haven't bothered recording video for a while. I probably should do something about it, I know I like to see what people are doing with their hands when I listen to a tune.
