The main engineer or person responsible for developing the gas chamber at Dachau intentially slowed the process down hoping they would not have time to use the gas chamber on people there. They were still working on the system when the Allies took the camp over. In my opinion, that gas chamber room is right next to the other rooms where Nazi personnel would have been stationed. I don't know how they would ever have poison gas in 1 room of a house and not leak over to the other rooms.
I'm referencing what the tour guide mentioned the day I visited. I believe the intent was a mass execution style of gas chamber. But, that was never realized. Maybe they experimented with it or something. But, I believe there's a sign inside the gas chamber stating the intent of the room and the fact it was never used. Other than that...I don't know.

There where no killings in Dachau, the deaths where of natural causes, the oven was only used to burn the corpses of the ones that died of natural causes. It was simply a workers camp. The Americans said that in order to cause hatered towards the Germans after WW2.

I have visited this camp when I was 8years old. I still remember in great detail the horrible sights and and the evil feeling I got. The smell outside was the smell of death I am told. This was back in the 70's. All those graves. There was and still is this kind of evil going on. Its just really sad.There is a rumor going around, some are saying the holocost never happened. I assure you, it very well did.

For the record, there were 40 million military/civ deaths due to WWI and 72 million military/civ deaths in WWII. The holocaust is 1 segment of the WWII death toll. Genecide was the purpose behind the holocaust...military conflict was behind the rest of the death toll. I believe the military side of the conflict certainly has gathered it's share of the media attention over the years. The holocaust has as well...in addition to the long history of Jewish persecution (just read the Bible).

Thanks for the comment!!! Yes, places like that are very interesting to walk through. I don't think I realized everything that happened there until I left the site and read through the book. It's incredible what happened in these camps once you piece the historical record (books) to your experiences walking around the site. I had the same feeling after visiting the Anne Frank home in Amsterdam and also the JFK assassination site in Dallas.
I visited Dachau last year. It is true that the gas chambers were never used. That Camp, was used to keep political oponents and rebels, mainly communists. There is a Russian Orthdox Church erected in the memory of the communist russians who were there but, they were atheists, not Orthodox.
I think the camp was in general also a staging area to send prisoners to other camps. The Dachau camp was setup as a "model" camp for Himmler. The local residents started to ask questions due to the ash falling down on the community. The Nazis running the camp started to shift prisoners to other locations to help minimize local concerns. The numbers are beyond comprehension when you put the entire holocaust into perspective. Thanks for your comments again.

Maybe they experimented with it or something. But, I believe there's a sign inside the gas chamber stating the intent of the room and the fact it was never used. Other than that...I don't know.

I think you said it best by agreeing the evidence is there. I don't know why it would be that big of a stretch to believe it actually happened. There where no killings in Dachau, the deaths where of natural causes, the oven was only used to burn the corpses of the ones that died of natural causes. It was simply a workers camp. The Americans said that in order to cause hatered towards the Germans after WW2.

How would we know if it really did happen? The evidence are there yes, but would it be too difficult to produce the fotages just so it would look that bad? Maybe the americans only wanted the people of the world to hate Germany as much as possible? I know it was a workers camp by actually knowing 2 of its victims.

If there is that many dead bodies in one area at one time my money is going on the idea the people were worked to death. Starved and worked to death, or killed, worked and starved to death. I respond pointing out the common sense arguments and move forward with that approach. I think most know their beliefs and ideas are unfounded...but they are pre-conditioned on history..and/or dislike/distrust America. So, their views are tainted...

Who are you saying are the criminals and communists? Are you talking about the inmates of people from dozens of countries...or are you talking about the American soldiers who liberated the camp? I'm not sure of your point of view actually. I think the message of the video is to respect human decency. The inmates from all the concentration camps were treated as sub-humans and were subject to extermination when they couldn't work anymore. When is it justified to treat people like this?

But, I think the comments here are going in a tangent from the intended message of this concentration camp video. What is misleading about the American contribution of liberating the camp in WWII??? It did happen and is not disputable. I would think the American solders were heroes to those inside the camp on the day of liberation. Don't you agree?

How does that relate to the Dachau concentration camp video? You are correct that tens of thousands died in Japan during WWII. However, the last I checked, the Japanese started the war at Pearl Harbor. The freedoms you enjoy today (such as typing free thoughts on YouTube) are a result of the sacrifices made during that conflict. What do you think the world would look like today if they didn't bomb Japan in WWII? What options did they have back then? The Japanese would not surrender. Why did Japan bomb Pearl Harbor if they could not handle the consequences? Revisionist history is a dangerous thing. It's easy to say what should have occurred 60 years ago. But, at the time, the country was fighting 2 wars over 4 year period. They would have done the same to the US if given the chance to bomb the states.

I think the choices at the end of WWII were between "awful" and "more awful". The land invasion of mainland Japan would have cost significantly more Japanese and American lives. The bomb would save lives but initiated the Atomic age. Which is worse? Once again, the Japanese or Germans would have used the bomb without discretion if they had it first. Do not buy into the argument the US was the only country that would have used it. Do you think Japan would have used an Abomb on Pearl Harbor?

By the way of crematory works. They runnining out of cole perhaps 6(!) month BEFORE "Day of Liberation". The camps were setup as work camps first of all. There was a munication factory near the Dachau camp. This is the reason for keeping them alive. Plus, the materials needed to "exterminate" thousands were a problem. They did not have enough gas to keep firing the furnaces in the cremation room. I realize I won't change your mind about all of this. But, you are buying into the wrong truths of the world. Beware of conspiracy theories...they are everyone.

I have visited this camp when I was 8years old. I still remember in great detail the horrible sights and and the evil feeling I got. The smell outside was the smell of death I am told. This was back in the 70's. All those graves. There was and still is this kind of evil going on. Its just really sad.There is a rumor going around, some are saying the holocost never happened. I assure you, it very well did.

For the record, there were 40 million military/civ deaths due to WWI and 72 million military/civ deaths in WWII. The holocaust is 1 segment of the WWII death toll. Genecide was the purpose behind the holocaust...military conflict was behind the rest of the death toll. I believe the military side of the conflict certainly has gathered it's share of the media attention over the years. The holocaust has as well...in addition to the long history of Jewish persecution (just read the Bible).

Thanks for the comment!!! Yes, places like that are very interesting to walk through. I don't think I realized everything that happened there until I left the site and read through the book. It's incredible what happened in these camps once you piece the historical record (books) to your experiences walking around the site. I had the same feeling after visiting the Anne Frank home in Amsterdam and also the JFK assassination site in Dallas.

I visited Dachau last year. It is true that the gas chambers were never used. That Camp, was used to keep political oponents and rebels, mainly communists. There is a Russian Orthdox Church erected in the memory of the communist russians who were there but, they were atheists, not Orthodox.

I think the camp was in general also a staging area to send prisoners to other camps. The Dachau camp was setup as a "model" camp for Himmler. The local residents started to ask questions due to the ash falling down on the community. The Nazis running the camp started to shift prisoners to other locations to help minimize local concerns. The numbers are beyond comprehension when you put the entire holocaust into perspective. Thanks for your comments again.

It's a horrible but interesting topic. I'm amazed that these videos like this are viewed by people from all over the world. It is also interesting on how viewpoints and positions often are so different based on where you are from. I would assume that most in Holland would understand the significance of the war since the country was such a victim as well.
