I think they're usually fed a mixture of fish and chicken (or other types of meat) and kibble. There was enough food. You are right about their active interest in hunting, so why would they want to harm their means of hunting? Without these hounds, they'd have no sport. They take very good care of them.

It didn't look like he gave a command. It looked more like he was inhibiting them from coming near the food because of him being much taller than them, established a tyranical than them when they were growing up by "disciplining" them with his whip, and carrying this whip with him which made him look like a large source of dominant danger to them. They were too scared to approach the food he appeared to be "guarding" as his own by standing over it. Only until he leaves, they rush.

@Superstar20021 Belive me! They're too expensive to lost just one of them or let one of them stay hungry. These dogs have one of the best life a dog can have on earth. They see more of the nature as most of the dogs in cities and pets. You can recognize that they are happy and healthy because of their looking. Me and my family use dogs for hunting since a hundred of years and they all died happy after a long life. This is absolute OK. Please excuse my english! I'm German

Watch Animal planet and watch one of the Shows that have the S.P.C.A charging people who DONT feed their animals or even worse let them become tick infested or worse DEAD and tied up to a fence or tree. Think twice about what animal crulety is and what isnt

@dareka11 just because the dogs don't look prim like Westminster dog show dogs doesn't mean they're abused. These are hunting dogs, they're not being raised as household pets that cuddle with you on the couch. They live and socialize in a pack, which is NATURAL for dogs and fighting will occur to establish ranks. Now, dogs wearing halloween costumes? THAT'S abuse....

The food is Offal - intestines. Very high protein. Hounds love it.
I know of a huntsman who lost his job for whipping a hound.
