  • Hey this video is sick. Whoever said that kicker cvx's or kicker L7's are better than this, please do everyone a favor and get shot.

I'd like to learn how to tune my subsonic level.

I have 1 12" re audio xxx in a custom box powered by a 5,500 watt power acoustik gothic series amp. Little help please?

  • I don't get why you'd have a sub like that in a sealed box. That's just retarded

  • @acewuner Could be because a proper box would consume the trunk; could be I like music and not limited-range tone generators; could be because the XXX is optimized for SQ -- EBPs the thing man -- and loves smaller sealed enclosures; could be just to out the ones who makes comments like that. Not sure :)

  • @SSat155 Fuckin' A!

  • @acewuner

Because the XXX is a sub made to be used in sealed enclosures.

  • that thing REALLY moves! Awesome :D

  • @wedoweeburns So let me get this straight. Your gonna compare bestbuy grade subs to the RE XXX sub here?

Kicker CVX is nothing but an overpriced overrated sub, that's been smashed by plenty of other subs on the market, including the RE XXX that doesn't have an inflated price like Kicker! Sundown,Incriminator,Soundstream, and DC audio, are just a small sample of subs that would step on a CVX like a used cigarette! Now please, stop embarrassing yourself cuz you don't know shit about car audio!

  • Just wondering what DB your hitting with this ? Does this woofer prefer sealed or could I go deep slot ?

  • @etch250 Never had it metered (has been sold since this video was shot ), but mid 130s sealed is typical, slot loading is fine, tune it low if you do this (<30).

  • 12"? - 15"? - 18"?

  • 3d XXX

  • 0:24

Remote: " nooo! its too much for me! *jumps* arrrrrrrgh *splat* "

  • xxx 3d

  • looks like a butt hole...

  • looks like a big black doughnut. . . i want one

  • What's the rattling noise? Is that from the wires in the box vibrating so much? I have that exact same rattling noise from my JL 13.5 W7 but your sub would eat mine haha. Also you did an excellent job with dyna matting your car. Nice sub and vid.

  • dair you to pur ur nutz on that lol

  • @ipoundbox666 you can put your girlfriend's pussy their and she'll go crazy and you have a wild night's loving

  • this is rediculous sounds like shit sry but hey if u want good shit i can hook u up with 2 12"KICKER CVX ( basicly round solobaric L7) in a vented box custom built of 1 inch thick mdf that is tuned all that for around 500 sry dude go home im chackin windshieds

  • @wedoweeburns ROFLMAO kicker.........KICKER<<<<<<<<HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @wedoweeburns Dude you're trippin' by saying that 2 12" Kicker CVX subs hit harder and sound better than an RE Audio XXX series sub!! This sub is considered to be an SQL sub which means it has good SPL and SQ coming out of it. Even the MX series goes harder than the CVXs bruh!! LOL

  • @bigtheo79 Who ever said that is a dumb ass.. I had 2 12" Kicker CVR subs and I doubt they hit anywhere near as hard as that Tru Hammer

  • @69Ford429 For real bruh dude is trippin real hard!!! You can just look at it compared to a CVX and tell that this thing hits way harder!! The surround on the cone should be enough to be able to determine that. I can guarantee that one of these by itself would hit harder than 2 CVXs together that are like sized as the XXX.

  • @bigtheo79 hell yea, the surrounding cone on my 12" MA Audio is thick just like the XXX.

  • i could put this on a kole 7000 amp at 1 ohm right? "4100" rms from that amp yeah right.. but would it work

  • @RYDOGG2992 Yes it would. Be careful with your gain settings, set the subsonic right, and you'll have some fierce bass.

  • I LOVE RE AUDIO...

  • Hey man, I like your vids, i just added and subscribed, you seem super knowledgeable, can you sub back? i'll be having some new audio vids coming up and my system is no where near yours but it would be nice to have someone that knows alot about car audio to give me some comments.

  • @Red04MonteLS Done my man.

  • damn that shit is flexing big time...nice

  • looks like my girlfriend's pussy....that fuckin whore ):

  • THUMBS UP IF AUDIO SAVINGS BROUGHT YOU HERE !!!

  • the Hammer was a good amp! we miss you John..

  • @jjlwis Amen to that.

  • xD wow it looks like my ass when im farting xD ( not really )

  • thumbs up bro!!!.. damn beast!

  • whats the rms on thr 12 and about how much do they cost looks like itd b loud as fuck

  • @90cbrjmm RMS is 2000 clean watts (no clipping), and eBay has some ridiculous prices on them right now. Get the 15 :)

  • box is flexing

  • POS copper Hamer!!! thinking of giving addictive a run see what they have.....FYI just slapped that dreadnaught 15 in nicks 4runner......1ohm 1100w on that mmats amp he has even though its that 2200w@0.5ohm. too bad the 4runner doesnt have enough sound deadning the thing looks like a soda can expanding.

  • @xDSMRx Nice. Tell Bill I've got a new woofer for him to replace those MX's... here we go again... :)

  • @SSat155 Nothing beats them MX's....fyi bill just got all copper Hybrids. Which subs do you speak of? <needs new spl woofer thats worth a fuck.

  • @xDSMRx He did what? The UL12 is the woofer that would kill-kill-kill his MX's. I'm going to pick one up and test it out.

  • @xDSMRx

Damn 2000 Watts RMS? Are you sure thats not the peak power? 2000 Watts RMS sounds carzy

  • @GuyaneseMemoriez check mmats amp specs if u need to get full details i personaly yhink its one big POS!

  • @GuyaneseMemoriez Bruh he's not lying these things can actually handle more than what they're rated at being 2,000 Wrms. They rate them lower than what they can handle so you don't get peeps that don't know what they're doing when hooking them up blowing them and for them to be able to last longer.

  • @bigtheo79 Our subs can really handle 3000 watts RMS, we just rate them at 2000 because our customers don't know what the fuck they're doing. LMAO.

  • @PARTYMARTYFTW Yeah bro I kinda figured that shit!!! lol I know there are lot of peeps out there that don't know what the fuck they're doing when hooking shit up like something as simple as impedance matching or RMS vs Peak power!! LMFAO Fuck around and set their damn car on fire not knowing what the hell their doing!!!

  • Your sub needs some preparation H. (take a moment to let that simmer... get the joke, then chuckle silently to yourself in your head.)

  • That sub is pretty to look at, loads of excursion.

  • beautiful!

  • is that the sub bottoming out??

  • @thecrazynebraskan Nope, just amp clip from being driven just past its limit of clean output.

  • @SSat155 And you say that like its a fine thing... You realize clipping converts kinetic energy into thermal energy, because clipping seizes the coil in the up and down position with power going to it, so since the voice coil depends on its own movement to calm it down, when its frozen with power to it, that can overheat it after a period of time and blow your subwoofer. Also, if it is clipping because it is overworking, that can overheat and blow the amp aswell. Over $1,000 in damage lol

  • @masterwolf1212 Uhmm, yeah. Sounds like someone snorted there Wheaties that morning. I get what you're trying to say here, but it's just not quite right. This amount of clipping, prob 20%, is actually rather normal if you are familiar at all with Live-sound standards. I do not suggest others doing it in their systems, but this woofer is so over built, you are never going to damage it. Thanks for your concern though :)

  • @SSat155 Snorted my wheaties? What do you mean? Lol, I eat wheat thins if it matters, but don't snort them. :P But yeah, I do agree that as long as its minimal its fine. But clipping can damage the amp since its being pushed too hard. But it does look like its bottoming out quite a bit, to the extent where you can hear it. I mean on my last amp it was doing the same thing making the loud clip sound and the sub got warm and the amp was burning. But hey, it could be the camera too. Nice subwoofer!

  • @masterwolf1212 Your phraseology was rather strange. Anywho, the "bottoming" sound is from the amp clip, it's in the description of the video (hint, hint). This was no where near the electrical xmax, let alone it's xmech, check out usampfreaks vids for an idea of high much cone displacement these are capable of. Better vids to come!

  • @SSat155 why is it everytime I comment you say something about what I eat or how I talk? And I know its from the amp clip, duh, thats what I've been talking about (hint hint) but as long as its clipping, nomatter how bad, its bad for the subwoofer. May not be bad for the amp like if it is clipping due to cheap RCA wire, but since its a square wave, its seizing the subwoofer in the out and in position changing kinetic energy into thermal energy, thus heating the coil.

  • @SSat155 Oh, and if I forgot to mention if you look at a clipped soundwave you will notice that the top of the wave isn't curved, its flat since it cannot expand any further, thats why the woofer seizes in and out. So look, its not good for it, I understand its "minimal" but I can hear it so its not so minimal. I understand its not bottoming out, but its not good for the subwoofer. And i know what RE's are capable, I have an RE 8 (upgrading to EMP 8 with a 2" voice coil!)

  • @SSat155 You two are faggots. nice subwoofer faggot

  • @SSat155 this time i agree with masterwolf1212. I blew mi sub when it was underpowered but with cliping.

  • @z3k0slav That can happen with single-layer, or even dual-layer coils on cheaper woofers. Not on flat-wound coils though like the XXX uses.

  • @SSat155 Beautifull Sub . I love it big and nice . I try to get two of those . But what is better RE Audio XXT or Rackfordfosgate T2 .? Both 12' I love 12 " . 15 - Is too big .

  • @SSat155 I mean RE MX 12 ". VS Rockfordfasgate T2 , 12' . Whats better . ?

  • The MX12 for sure, if money is tight, then the T2 is still pretty good choice.

  • hahaha watching the middle logo hurt my eyes. very nice and pretty clean.

  • i got two 12" cerwin vega stroker pros in my dodge magnum 08 what do you think would be better for them in a sealed box or a ported box...i have them in a ported box my problem is when i open the window they dont pound as hard

  • @iannjoesph All vehicles have a variation of this problem. Some get louder, while others loose perceived output. All that is going on is that the various low frequency waves are either canceling out, or cancellation is being removed. Try changing the position of the box, which ever direction it is facing now, reverse that, and then go from there depending upon what it sounds like. You should use pink/white noise while you do this though. If you're patient, and listen carefully, you'll hear it.

  • song please???

  • @chazkez07 Song is "Stereo Bass", Track 12 on the Bass Patrol album "Nothin but Bass".

  • i hope thats not bottoming out im hearing... lol NICE setup man

  • Is this a RE audio subwoofer it looks like it!

  • @walkingfreak

    Its tha XXX series

  • thats crazy shit

  • Damn!

  • cant even hear the bass

  • Not true. The DC components from the amp during clipping will do nothing at this level with this woofer. This thing will take 10-12k watts if you don't abuse it. I wish I still had my GZ Radioactive!

  • Idiot

  • loud?

  • I have an '85 Dodge Ram 50, stock 80A altenator, with around 800 watts of aplifier power going to a single sub, and I've killed 4 altenators with the same amplifier.

  • thats why im setting up solar power in my van and im gonna have a really stable DC setup XD

  • haha Solar power might keep it charged up while you have everything turned off, but I don't think solar panels will produce enough wattage to keep it stable. Good thought, though. Real good, in fact that means you may never have to worry about carrying jumper cables ever again!

  • Agreed, good luck with that one. It would be nice if it were feasible, but it's just not. Just get some good spiral cell, or Odyssey batteries, a good regulator and you're good to go.

  • Get your total accessory load checked, see how much your vehicle needs just to run, and then you'll know how much spare amperage you have for your system. I'd be willing to bet you have 15-20 amps reserve, and you need somewhere in the neighborhood of 35-40 to run an amp of that wattage.

  • @SSat155

its about 10 amps to make 100 watts rms, so that 40 amps left over isnt going to do much. playing music is about 50% so if you have 40-50amps left over the most you can hope for is about 1000rms on the heaviest bass notes

  • You're numbers are spot on :)

  • @kornkyd09 get a 300 h/o out put alt dont keep buyin shit ones lol

  • @RYDOGG2992 they don't make a better alt for this truck, unless I were to rig up my own alt setup, i.e. new mounts and shit -or- try swapping alt innards with a similar but stronger alt.

  • @kornkyd09 if i were you then i would get all the mounts and stuff done b.c youll just keep buyin more subs lol

  • @kornkyd09 alts********

  • @kornkyd09 i have a jeep with a 90a alternator and 2000 watts and i have never killed an alternator

  • @kenwood1609

Because your 2000W probably isn't 2000W. You need to consider exactly what your amplifier is loaded at, rated for at that load and voltage, then understand that your crest factor in your music will all be what determines how much power you are really seeing, realistically speaking.

  • whaaat? stock electrical? i got 93 camry stock electrical too pushing about 900 rms. dims like crazy. what amp your using?

  • It's listed in the info block. You may be driving it into hard clipping. You should only be pulling 25, to 35 amps max with that amp.

  • the amp's fuse rate is 80. your still running on your stock alt? how many amps is the alt? and what kind of battery? thanks.

  • I didn't keep that setup, as the box consumed most of my trunk; the alternator was never changed either. Delco battery up front :)

  • any dimming that time? did you do the big 3?

  • It only dimmed at full volume, and not too much. I am very methodical in system designs. No big 3, no caps, bone stock! You should put a current meter, a "Hall" type DMM across your pos amp lead sometime when running test tones, you'll be surprised at how little current is drawn most of the time.

  • can you please PM me more about running test tones? do you mean setting my gains properly? im kind of new at this stuff.

  • wow. try and tell someone who knows what they are talking about..that 2.7 cubic feet is too small for 1 12 inch sub. maybe for an 18..but not too small for a 12. hell its on the big side

  • It would be too big for most 12's yes, Not the XXX. Hell this thing weighs 92lb! Its a beast. I was told the optimum size for the box (Not the fake crappy specs that are given out by RE) is around 4 ft^3 +

The XXX also does not respond very well to ported boxes, it might work, but will not sound very good. A sealed box is best for this sub as its built for SQl over SPL...

  • just a question how come theres not that much bass is it because its the port noise(like u said) or some other reason just curious

  • It's is because the camera is "farfield" from the woofer, meaning there is no high level of bass outside the trunk. The mic is not overloading like most vids you see on YT.

  • Its the mic on the camera. There's plenty of bass in real life.

  • @jasonbc69 That depends on the displacement of that 12 inch sub and whether or not you want it to hit low. 2.7cu is not on the big side, at least for huge 12s that move alot of air. And id say from seeing PICTURES of the XXX subwoofer, its displacement is probably massive so id say 2.7cu is on the small side for that subwoofer. My 1.8cu box for my Premier is way too small for it, im building a 2.7cu ported at 30hz for it it when i get time and that will be about perfect.

  • stop disrespecting that sub...that box not only looks to be too small but it also looks to be sealed double no no.......

  • Did you even bother to read the description of this in the profile block? It's 2.7 cubic feet which is huge, if you understand electrodynamics. And sealed is the only, I repeat only way in which to get a flat response sum with the transfer function of a vehicle. Please do some reading on the subject, and then you can contribute to a discussion. You're welcome.

  • thats a FREE AIR sub and and if you do YOUR research the last thing you want to do is put a free air sub in a sealed encloser of no kind .....

  • You must have been terribly mislead by someone, because not only do mobile audio free-air/IB/OB drivers have higher Q values, a higher Fs, and lower moving mass, but they also DO NOT have a low Qts and high BL like ported drivers do (which you seem to favor). Generalized statements with no technical basis like yours are no good to those who come on YT trying to actually learn something.

  • That is NOT a free air sub. go to the website. no manufacturer would supply you with a sealed box spec much less a ported box spec. they do both.

  • I like how you need 2 sheets to 3/4 MDF to mount that sub on. Nice sub. I need to get me one.

  • its the sub clipping and prob cause its in such a small box and that amp is bad ass

  • Subs cannot clip like that, its electrical clipping that is heard in the video. Read the description of the video for gods sake.

  • that woofer would have had to have been burning up, amazing excursion.

  • Yea thats exactly what I was thinking. A Tru Hammer on stock electrical with the car off?!? Dangerous!

  • See above.

  • Brief clipping does nothing to these subs.

  • @SSat155 Clipping will most likely blow the amplifier before it does any real damage to the subwoofer. Unless you have cheap subwoofers. I clipped the hell out of my HiFonics BXi 1206D when I had it running on a stock electrical system with the car on had voltages in the 11v range. Killed the amp, but the sub is still fine and in my benz now with a stock 115A alt that powers it fine.

  • That is for the most part true, depending upon how much clipped signal relative to the thermal limits of the sub being driven. I see you are a Pio fan, their subwoofers, generally speaking, are very underrated. And their headunits are my personal favorite.

  • Comment removed

  • @SSat155 Oh Im sorry. I completely misread that. My bad :) haha. Fail on my part. But yea.

  • i love pioneer! check out my 3 12's

  • Good for you :)

  • what type of benz?

  • Yup... its a personal opinion, so it aint the funniest thing u ever heard. Cause I aint laughin that u dont agree wit me

  • Thats one of the best subwoofers ever made!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ill take those over FI anyday

  • honestly if you think that kind of subwoofer is better than fi audio thats the funniest thing ive ever heard lol

  • Re Audio is right there with Fi

  • Yea true that, idk what to pick fi or re haha

  • FI is designed by the same guy that made REs.

  • Yea, forgot XXX was re, but deadlysounds is saying he would take re over FI, doesnt make any sence lol

  • Well, You Can Thank The Owner Of Fi For Designing It. Scott Attwell Was The Chief Designer For RE Before Their US Amps Buyout.

  • Damn that shit SLAPS

  • shit

  • lots of air pressure i bet XD

  • haha

  • great sub. where do i find them?

  • they are made by RE audio so jus look for dealer online

  • incredible

  • incredible

  • Cars not running. Wheres your power coming from to power this thing?

  • wow that is a fuckin beast of am amp almost blowing that sub and that is no cupcake sub either

  • tommy likey!!!

  • LONG STROKE YOU GOT THERE!!!

  • LOL

  • Re audio and FI audio i think they are the best brands ever to make hard hitting woofers

  • Dont forget DD!! I just ordered an 05 RE XXX 15. I'll post a vid asap.

  • no doubt

  • I agree DD Is great also

  • monster

  • arrecho ese RexXX me pueden decir de cuanto Watts es ese Woofer ?

  • 2,000 rms

    4,000 peak

  • Tha last 5 seconds are pretty hectic :D

  • lol remote goes thud

  • use a ported box!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why?So I can see what a port can do? The goal with a driver like this is, wait for it, to see what the driver can do!

  • Two years since this vid posted and still getting comments. Getting haters, uneducated haters at that. Nothing better than an uneducated hater.

  • Sad, but true. No one even thinks to read even 1 decent book on the subject before posting on every frickin video they can find. Such is the way of the world nowadays though.

  • Who Gives A Fuck What's Louder, This Guy Obviously Cares More About SQ And Driver Linearity, It's His Preference, Not Yours, So Stop Telling This Dude What He Should And Shouldn't Do.

  • it's bottoming out.... sounds like shit

  • ... for the nTH time, that is electrical clipping in the video, Xmech is 75mm, so it's not even close to bottoming. Check out the videos by USAmpFreak, that'll show you some real excursion.

  • Haha, you have fun. I want her to die anyway. DUMBFUCK.

    Stfu anyways.

  • o tru u r right but there not as loud lol

  • He's playing low frequencies that humans can't hear.

It should be lower than 20Hz.

  • damn nice sub but y a sealed box though ?

  • sealed hits harder

  • Are you just retarded, or mentally retarded.

    Fucking idiot.

I dare you to put a DD 9515 in a sealed, and then ported. See which hit's harder on 3k rms

  • Agreed. I'm not sure what constitutes "hits harder", but this poor Joe needs an ejumacation in sound.

  • Haha true true.
