I think that college students don't get to know their teachers as well as they should. I know that I haven't, but what a great tip! Building this rapport definitely will help your grades not to mention having a great source for homework help and possibly letters of recommendation! Great vid!
Thank you, really, really than you :) you remembered me how satisfying it can be to study, I wish I could give the best of me as I did years ago... I'm on my last semester of high school and well, I didn't gave the best of me in the past years, but from now on I will... I really missed to hear people like you :), thhank you, really, really thanks :)
Here is the problem with me: I could read a history book all day or study whatever subject and be totally content...but then I get assigned an essay and I just dread it with all of my being. I feel like, since I already have the ideas in my mind before writing the essay, just figuring out the proper wording and adding footnotes and bibliographies is a pointless task. Maybe this is just me?
I have just bought 'The History Boys' after your recommendation (that and the fact that I am currently reading James Corden's book and he keeps mentioning it!) :D xx
Lou this video literally is me right now. I have med school exams in 2 weeks. And for the love of God I cant motivate my arse. I need to sort it out as of tomorrow IT BEGINS. THE PLAN OF OWNAGE. X
I send a personal message to you will you answer? :) It's a about recovering bulimia and a diet plan. I think it could nice to hear your opinion on this.
lou how did you keep yourself interlecturally motivated when you were on you gap year. it has been 8 months since i have studied and find that my brain has stopped working lol xoxo
@sarahgrace172 You have to keep on reading. Read lots, make sure you're reading quality Literature (or whatever it is you're going to be studying later), make notes on what you read, write essays if you so desire! Listen to podcasts or iTunes U broadcasts - lectures from universities, regular academic podcasts, anything that is going to keep your mind engaged intellectually. Gap years can be seriously demotivating though, I agree... Good luck!
Great video lou, inspiring. I used to be so driven & motivated, loving college....but went down hill badly due to my health, now I need to get back on track and try little steps. Thanks ^_^
hi lou, i love your videos, and i agree with everything you say, but one thing you said in this bothers me. The part about "silly boyfriends and girlfriends" actually really hurt, as myself and my boyfriend both maintain above average grades, and still have a great, loving relationship. Obviously my grades are extremely important to me, but so is he, as he gives me both the motivation and the support I need. Surely in some cases it is possible to have the best of both worlds?
You are so smart and so stunning! and im so happy you recovered from anorexia because I can see how amazing you have become now and how much your life has got back on track! sooo proud! Your amazing! xxxx
this video will definitely be helping me out when i have my standard grade exams in may! thank you so much, lou :D i was wondering how to stay motivated when this is the situation:
-the teacher is uninterested in her student's success
-i'm not naturally good at the subject (art)
-the teacher is indecisive and often isn't clear about expectations then gets very angry when her standards (that we are not made aware of) are not met.
i really want to get a good mark but she makes it bloody hard!
thankyou thankyou thankyou sooooo much! your study videos are sososososososo motivating!!! *goes to go organize desk which currently looks like a bomb has hit it*
thank you so much lou again for your advice. Seriously, every single one of your videos help me tremendously. Just wondering, lou, what do you wish to be when you are older? and are you planning to go to uni anytime soon? i cannot tell you how much you inspire me with every single word that comes out of your mouth. You are truly just amazing
Lou! your study advice is amazing as ever : i have a french oral soon, was wondering if you could do a video on oral skills and how to do a good french accent? would really help! and ive bought that book 'mot a mot' that you mentioned previously, its really good. thanks xxx
I'm doing math homework(on a saturday), that isn't due util late next week. Not sure if tragic, or a good thing? And I'm also studying for a french test. Need to get of youtube now though
I'm in recovery (anorexia and overexercising) w/out any professional help. I make smaller & bigger progresses once a while. I've reached a healthy weight. But weight doesn't say anything about ED.My mind is still anorexic.Atm I restrict a bit on the one day and eating a normal amount of calories on the next day but always feel very agressive about my full stomach & intestine on the following day. I'm not afraid of food anymore but this huge agression afterwards is killing me. Do u know that, too?
@luticia I mean,I don't have the feeling that my anorexic way of thinking & feeling will go away ever. Although I'm normal weight now I'm not free of anorexia. *WTF* Any suggestions of u guys what I could do at this point?
I have been pretty productive since school started but today, I slacked off quite a lot and just been unproductive. Thank you for reminding what I want to achieve, my goals! I'll make sure to check back when I am slacking off again! :) thanks so much, God bless :))
I'm starting my gcses this year, I did extremely bad last year due to issues but this year I'm trying hard to get back on track, thanks for this video, its extremely helpful, especially the university thing:3
I've never had monetary motivations but I was motivated by peer pressure to do well. Who wants to be the stupid one? But I suppose that was my particular school environment. Now I'm at uni I struggle with motivation, not because I go out much or sit at my computer all day, but because studying is lonely and intense and I feel that there really is no light at the end of the tunnel. Wish I had something to strive for. Instead, I am just rolling along, going with the flow.
I'm having a break doing my 10,000 English essay right now! I'm in my third year at uni and am struggling with the work load, it's so intense. Back to the grind after this video though.
