I hate when people blame Draco in this scene, he was never going to kill Dumbledore. You could tell by his expression and how badly his wand was shaking, if he had done it he would have the second he disarmed Dumbledore. People always call Draco the villain but he is more of a victim. Voldemort forced Draco into it to punish Lucius and he went along with it to save his family nothing more. Tom Feltons acting in this scene is so good, very convincing.

Dumbledore leaves S in this position cause D knows S can still protect students from too much cruelty from Voldemort.. It's a thick plot, not just one solution answer..
