I love his songs and this is definitely one of m favourite ones. However, I can't seem to find one of his songs anywhere. It was a video very similar to this one, a live show in some club and at the beginning Paul says "It's a kind of a wabi-sabi love song except that I don't call it wabi-sabi". 've looked for this video everywhere and it's nowhere to be found! That song has the most beautiful melody I think. Does anyone know?
@antauk...you must be joking....just saw this guy at McCabe's in Santa Monica...he was suffering from the flu and he put on one terrific show....artists are artists...it takes courage and passion to lay yourself out there...this guy should teach a class on it...one very together dude...we're blessed to have him among us
It's a great song, performed with great passion by a man laying it out there live. I've got nothing but admiration for him. My guess is those who can't appreciate that have never done it.
Critics are jut that critics! Everyone has their opinion. It's not his vocie, it's not the back to back shows. He has to feed his damn family people, it's the studio CD. Most muscians can not duplicate studio recordings perfectly. EP does and does it with one guitar.
Go see EP with a band and then your attitude here will change! Or go to your right and click on 3,000 miles a live production w/the great Susan Werner from ladiska3 then after listening & "hearing" pick your jaw up off the floor...
@antauk wtf are you talking about it? If you want a carbon copy of the studio-version, just fucking listen to a damn mp3 file you dipshit. Artists "do that kind of stuff" because it adds flavor to their music and allows them to express themselves. You obviously have not been to a concert if you don't appreciate a simple thing like that.
which is the way he plays when he's done a number of dates back to back and his throat is blown out. he tends to really push with his throat and i think as a result trash it with lots of live dates in a row. lots of musicians have this problem, especially belters like ellis.
fucking amazing!

why cant he just sing it as it is, as it was released, when artists do this kind of stuff, the song generally sucks.. as this version does..

out of pitch? perhaps u meant out of sync...
branflakes0909 2 years ago
no i think he means a different key to the recorded song, because he doesnt have a capo on the 4th frett so :) he means that haha
bealema123456 1 year ago 5
@brianman650 it's not out of pitch, it's just down a half step... makes it easier to sing live cause it's a little high.
