@spencerhopkins91 The Snowbirds is the name of the group, the aircraft they fly is the Tutor. There is nothing wrong with this aircraft. The Canadian Forces use it as their training aircraft for all the new pilots. There haven't been any accidents due to failure on the aircrafts part.
this is an extreme form of formation flying. i quiver at the thought of being close to any obstacle (whether plane or other object) when flying. collision is far more deadly in aviation than on the road not because of the collision itself but because of what follows: GRAVITY!
The song is entitled 10,000 Miles and is the signature track in the 1996 family film Fly Away Home sung by the very popular, Grammy-award winner Mary Chapin Carpenter.
@arandomperson240 I doubt it. If you're counting from when dog fighting actually technically started, it's WW1, I believe that many more pilots have been killed in dog fights as opposed to air shows.
I'm glad to say that in many airshows I've attended, I've only seen one non-fatal crash. It's such a shame when we lose a pilot, but boy how these guys live!
I have to admit, probably th-eeeeeeee best Aerobatic team in the world "Snowbirds". And damn right all of the fallen Snowbirds, have not fallen they have risen and made our country proud. "Soar High Snowbirds, Soar High"
What a wonderful tribute. Beautifully done. It really touched me. I remember seeing the Snowbirds for the first time when I was a child at an air show and they are truly amazing!!
when i went to the 2008 Quebec city airshow, they, for the first time in history, had the Red Arrows, the Thunderbirds, the Blue Angels and the Snowbirds all in the same place at the same time, and out of the 4 teams, the Snowbirds were the best.
I was on the search and recovery team for Shawn McCaughey it was a horrible ordeal at malmstrom afb in montatna. After that crash there was talk about discontinuing the snowbird program and now I just learned their was two deaths this year... I don't get it.
