Actually, it's better if you have a tube with evenly spaced holes along it and flames at each hole, and a speaker directed down the tube. It will make the flames get larger and smaller to the music. My highschool teacher did that, and it works much better than just 1 candle.

Actually it is. The vertical waveform created by the camera is the signal trace.

By all means an oscilloscope (crude one) without trigger function.
