  • excellence beyond words

  • Bathory was a great band.

No matter the phrase in Black or Viking, it's awesome and no matter that they said that Black is better than the Viking. I like both.

  • this could be from mc hammer

  • AWESOME!!! \m/

  • What a happy little circle jerk. Since when did BM videos have commenters defending the artistic value of hip hop?

You aren't truly kvlt if you like anything else than metal.

  • @Cyberspine

not sure if retarded or just trolling

  • @DizzyWalin91 It's a retard, trolling.

  • @Cyberspine You aren't truly "kvlt" unless you love dick in your ass. Seriously, you have any idea how stupid you sound being a Westerner saying "kvlt"? You have any idea how stupid you sound saying "kvlt" period?

Black metal is a joke. Wear makeup. Run around the woods. Spikes!

  • @Raro404 lol u mad bro?

    /watch?v=6xsDdIByh8A

  • @Cyberspine people grow up and do understand after a while that is stupid to limit yourself to one genre of music.. wait ten years and you will get there too.. but to be honest, i do prefer metal over all the other..

  • omg gaiz i only listen to one type of music and because I do that makes it the only good kind and no one should listen to anything else.

    Stfu you elitist pricks.

Although, surprisingly, most people on here are actually being sensible, props to you guys.

  • vacker

  • 03:08 "the true Rastafari" :D

  • Ah hai quella dei Metallica?

  • este es uno de los mejores discos de este genero de poca madre parece que lo grabaron ayer

  • I wish all you shut the fuck up.

  • and why exactly you are saying your age in every metal video?does really matter how old are you?...

  • one of a kind without doubt.

  • Hands down the best viking metal song, and easily one of the best metal songs of any genre. I still can't get over how epic this song is, musical and lyrical perfection.

  • the first album "epic" of Bathory!!!Quorthon is a father of viking metal!!!!

  • I like this song!!!!

  • o bathory e igual a um bom vinho quanto mas o tempo passa torna-se mas prazeroso !!!

  • Deaths star on horizon Lightning and rain Black winds and thunder The skyline is in flames Written in the red mist The sign of the one Who rides deaths cold wind And walks disguised among All you vagrant souls Of profane disbeliefs False prophets and deceivers Shall swing from the trees Soon the dawn shall arise For all the oppressed to arm A chariot of thunder shall be seen And bronze horns shall sound the alarm
  • Excelente!!!!!!!!!

  • only for men

  • classic black metal bands are refreshing and made me love black metal again

  • and the souls of your ancient ones reign....AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

  • like father to son!!!!!!!!

  • Pile of metal.

  • Hey, is it alright to piss off Christians by claiming that homosexuality is not a sin, or is it against the manly code of Black Metal?

  • @Tigerbeetweenie

Satanism is all about fulfilling your desires without the hindrance of institutions like Christianity telling you that pleasure is essentially a bad thing. So, if you feel the desire to be homosexual, then be homosexual.

  • @Tigerbeetweenie Depends on the band. If it's Gorgoroth then it's fine. If it's Burzum then no, and you should live in a field and breed with a Aryan women to better humanity.

  • @Tigerbeetweenie You can be manly and be homosexual as well, look at Gaahl.

  • 666 rise of the new generation bringing the antichrist

  • I'm two years old and I only listen to metal because I heard a Soulja Boy song once and immediately assumed that all hip hop was as bad as that, look how fucking cute I am.

  • @Huaynocore Can I adopt you?

  • @aksquash Ewwwww no parents are evil.

  • @Huaynocore Fair enough. Can I award you a seal of approval instead? For you sir masterfully debunked all the annoying pricks on the comments section and I applaud you for it.

  • @aksquash Uhhhhh okay sure.

  • @Huaynocore You're using the famous technique the totalitarian government uses called "better by comparison". Either way you look at it, they're both shit. Bathory and that RAP garbage you mentioned.

  • @Neurotripsicks Look at me, I'm an art school college meta-troll. Even fucking cuter.

  • @UnchartedYT What does that have to do with the Death of Andrew Wood? You're an imbecile, go fuck yourself in a hotel fire with a railway spike, poser.

  • Cant we just listen to the music without giving everyone pointless critic which makes no sense.

    Bathory<3

  • The word 'epic' is overused these days, but it applies to this song any day - past, present or future.

  • Tell me if I'm crazy but I definitely feel like that if there was such thing as metal in the 1500s or in times around that, this would be the metal you'd here.

  • @dakotamanomgwtf Sort of, what I think is that this song not mainly is a viking song, although a few lines are clearly that, but that this is in fact about a large'scale battle with set battlefield, not about a minor horde clashing, and this, as far as I know, did not happen until the middle ages, however I would date it a bit further back, to about around the time of the pest.

  • @Chaanee Yes kind of what I meant haha. That'd be awesome.

  • ahuevoooooooooooooo!!! pinche rolononon!!!!

  • μα πόσο ΓΑΜΑΤΟ  μπορεί να είναι;;;;;;;

  • @ARCMETAL21 κατ' εμέ είναι ίσως το καλύτερο μέταλ τραγούδι στην ιστορία.

  • I like the 457 likes but I LOVE the 3 DISLIKES, this song wouldn't have changed anything if it didn't annoy anyone.

  • epic

  • The moment is chosen

    The Battlefield is bare

    Take now thy stand people

    The true ones don't fear

    Now choose your weapons

    And fall in the line

    Choose well your colours

    And follow the sign

  • @righttokill13

Blood for all tears shed and fire for hate.

Death for what shall become all false ones fate...!

  • @sweetestinyection

    The standard bearer is chosen

    the day has just begun

Shadows growing long by the rising

    Of the awakening sun....

  • im new to this band who was Quorthon?

  • @memster34 Quorthon IS Bathory.

  • no mention of slipknot should be in the top comments

  • 10 and 22 minutes of pure masterpiece!!

  • I wasn't expecting much from this band... I'm more of a heavy/thrasher, so I don't usually like the black/death metal vocals. But this is fucking badass, any recomendations for songs like this (no crazy growling corpse-paint guys please).

  • @mooninites3 well you could go listen to "A fine day to die", it was also made by bathory (same album) so maybe you will like it

  • Comment removed

  • slipknot sucks shit now...but their iowa album is one of the best metal cds released imo

  • @RainingBlood1982 Slipknot sucks several dick(S)

  • Bloooood... Fiireeee... Deeeaaaaaaaath!!!! \m/

  • nice

  • very good pace and devastating epic ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Everybody shut the fuck up and jam.

  • I didn't realize I liked any actual black metal bands (Mercyful Fate and Venom don't count as black metal in my opinion), but Bathory's actually really good.

  • @lyon1535 Venom invented Black Metal?

  • @RockabillyKathy Venom did not invent the musical portion of black metal. I consider them to be the creators of extreme metal ( I think they are thrash) but I do not think they are black metal besides the imagery and lyrics.

  • @lyon1535 Well until the 1982 album 'BLACK METAL' from VENOM the term was not in existence. If you're going to talk about the musicality then yes, there are many precise strains of Black Metal, but the concept came with Sabbath and was fully formed and coined as a genre by Venom. Black Metal is first and foremost lyrically and image based, any other observations you may have are simply personal opinion and therefore obsolete. Sorry to sound like a pompous snob, but you brought it upon yourself.

  • @RockabillyKathy VENOM,hellhammer/celtic frost & merciful fate. WAKE UP POSERS!!!

  • @six1702 Keep wanking into your kleenex

  • keep waking into your kleenex

  • @lyon1535 When I was a kid,VENOM,MERCIFUL FATE and HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST were all black metal bands and claimed it too,so how can you say there not? If they were BM then, they are BM now, they were the first & you must be young & dumb to think otherwise!!!!! Respect the Elders.

  • @six1702 Young and dumb? You're calling me dumb because of a fucking musical genre? Shut up.

  • @six1702 back in the days i think led zepplin weren't hard rock but today they are considered part of it. Terminology changes over time .

Also those bands you mentioned from the first wave pretty much set an example, but werent really black metal. Venom was thrash for example.

  • @six1702 You spelled Mercyful Fate wrong...... and dude, calm down bro. Mercyful Fate can be considered first wave black metal or just classic metal. Hellhammer was a mix of thrash/black/death, even though some of those genres didn't exist when they were out. Celtic Frost experimented with every genre of metal, and Venom can be first wave black metal or thrash/speed metal. Respect the young ones (I'm 14, and even I can spell Mercyful Fate..)

  • horn up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Enigmatica obra maestra ,grandiosa

  • Dieser song hat mich geprägt in der jugend. Endgeil

  • @boede73 bist nicht alein, und das ist gut so..........

  • Keep the useless band vs band coments out. Metal is metal no matter who makes it.

....but this is just superior X).I thought slayer/kreator were my favorites, guess ill have to introduce bathory to that list

  • I like to ride on my pony to this song

  • @Reverie931 Haha

  • This is the best song ever written hands down. I listened to the whole 10 minutes and I'm listening to it all over again. Lots of people my age (Coming out of 8th grade) are into rap and shit, I never got pulled into that crap. RIP Quorthon.

  • @SuperInsanity1 WE WILL NEVER BE PULLED INTO ANYTHING, because we are the keepers of the METAL FLAME. Fuck naysayers, METAL WILL OUTLIVE US ALL!!!

  • @SuperInsanity1 Good on you mate, Keep the metal flowing R.I.P Quorthon

  • @SuperInsanity1 also in the 8th grade I feel the bro this intro is so intriguing... i also like the bend he did in the fourth riff of this song ALOT

  • @SuperInsanity1 Same situation ..... .Fuck , in my school classroom all the people listen to Rap , Manele ( International fucking stupid romanian type of music ) and a lot of shit ..... Trust me , i know how you feel

  • @TheStefanSika

manele is not pure romanian, it has nothing to do with our folklore. stop spreading bullshit. manele is not even music. it's just crap.

  • @SuperInsanity1 you sir have your shit together!!!!

  • @SuperInsanity1 im 14, and not once listened to Eminem or any other rap artist. Respect.

  • @Aribozaki and by this you mean to say what?

  • @Kudiz Im saying, fair play on not listening to crap.

  • @SuperInsanity1 im 14 and fuckin glad to listen to death metal, thrash metal, black metal, watever it may but its bullshit when fucking aeropostale wearing faggots push their lame talents music on me so basically.Fuk em'

  • @SuperInsanity1 Yeah yeah yeah 8th grade, you dont listen to rap, who the fuck cares? I'm 16 and have also been listening to this since a young age. But I can also appreciate other music, including hip hop. Try not to limit yourself to one style of music and one mindset, and explore music as a whole, and as an art. And quit bragging about how young and alternative you are for liking this. I mean, yeah I guess it's cute. But it's annoying.

  • @JakeWeirdo12

Who declared Hip-Hop music? According to what standard?

Explore music as a whole? What the fuck does that mean?

On the contrary...Skippy...not all music and or organized sound achieves the level of art.

If I were you (and gratefully I am not) I'd be careful attempting to sound intelligent. Hip-Hop is to music what rape is to love.

    Jerk-off.

  • @Easleytee you like dimmu borgir. Nuff said

  • @Easleytee Music is completely subjective. You must shed the illusion that there is such a thing as "Good" and "Bad" music. When dealing with the subjective there are only individual truths, you must realize this else you turn into an elitist asshole who is convinced his opinion is superior to all others simply because it is his

What ever gives you an emotional response is your "Good" music. What ever gives another an emotional response is his "Good" music. There is no universal "good" music.

  • @Easleytee But you see, you are wrong. Music is music and music is art and I think that the music of Soulja Boy or Justin Bieber or Bathory or Beethoven or The fucking Shins are all equally valid as artists. Art is completely subjective, as FangsOfTheNidhogg said. You are in no place to say what is music or rape or love or whatever. You dont know shit and neither do I. This is all to be interpreted as we please.

  • @JakeWeirdo12 wise words. i like seeing young guys have a healthy concept of music AS A UNIVERSAL ART

  • @JakeWeirdo12 Good call. You miss so much if you limit yourself to one style, believe me I know. I am 39 and spent most of my life looking for the "heaviest" and I finally came to the conclusion that it doesn't exist. No matter how heavy it is there is always something heavier. Been listening to Bathory since I was 14. Listening to metal since I was 10.

  • @SuperInsanity1 well, aren't you special ?

  • @SuperInsanity1 good things come to those who take the time to search

  • Fuck Yeah Bat Lord!

  • this and the selftittled album are the best, you know its awesome when you never get bored of listening to it.

  • I can see how classical influenced this record. They captured the emotion of a symphony of hundreds within a few guys. THAT is music.

  • Its a classic nuff said!! R.I.P Quorthon!!!!!!! Missed but never forgotten!!!!!

  • Quorthon, the greatest viking of history...

  • Alright, I just started listening to bathory today, but I still think they rock. I mean, this is classic black viking metal. Not like the too loud black metal some bands play today. This, dude, this you cannot get tired of. Like nordland, you just feel the chill from the winds in the north. I like black metal. I like burzum, I like mayhem, I like gorgoroth, I like satyricon, I like cradle of filth. I like lots of other metal too. This beats almost all of it though.

  • AWESOME

    this song is fucking best...

    RIP Quorthon

  • @anin13mort man, bathory's first 6 albums are masterpieces.

  • @chiaromontestephen woman xD

  • @anin13mort in that case, woman, bathory's first 6 albums are masterpieces :)

  • @chiaromontestephen of course, exactly :)

  • At 7:01 begins one of my favorite parts in all of metal. Sends shivers down my spine.

  • Przepiękny, pamietam gdy pierwszy raz tego słuchałem (kiedy to było,łza sie kręci w oku )ten utwór powalił mnie na kolana i tak jest do dziś,każde odsłuchanie rodzi emocje, potęga i kult!Hail Quorthon!Prawdziwy geniusz ,taka strata...

  • very good

  • The 3 rules for True Metalheads:

    1. Thou shalt not say J-----n B------r's name in metal videos anymore... from now on, refer to him as M.C. Whitebread

    2. If you go to any of this videos, even to dislike or troll it, you shall be exiled from the metal community

    3. Keep viewing and liking the metal videos. Make the metal videos the most popular.

Copy and paste this to every metal and rock video, keep the wannabe metalheads from contributing to M.C. Whitebread other crappy mainstream music

  • And now the beginning of Viking Metal.

  • Redefines the definition of what definitive means.

  • Fucking epic

  • 7:17 - 7:52 .....epic.

    RIP Quorthon.

  • @YTisMyPlaylist Have you heard Behemoth's song Lucifer??

  • I have this album on 12" vinyl picture disc. It is still almost mint and is one of my treasures.

  • Fucking Epic Album still ahead of its time Hails and Horns every true Metal Head Out there!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Exception quote from Bathory, "We shall hang them by their necks until they are dead" AGGHGGGGGGGGGGG

  • This is amazing, i'm a new Bathory fan and I'm already spellbound by this epic masterpiece. HAIL BATHORY!!

  • at 7:17 mark Quorthons vocals and what hes saying are so metal. This is an anthem. Im proud to own this album and several other Bathory albums. Its hard to choose which one is my favorite. Definitely a top ten metal band.

    RIP Quorthon

  • Epic black metal!

  • AVE QUORTON AND BATHORY!

  • A lot of big comments here...i made a short one ;)

  • @akudal964 trololololololo ...XD

  • @YTisMyPlaylist The early material of Swans had a massive influence on Godflesh's musical approach with their first two releases and some of the following ones.I listened to these bands already before Meshuggah drifted to my sight.

Hmmm. Shining. Following your description, they strike me as a very interesting realm to discover.I'll be sure to check them out as soon as, I got some spare time.

  • @YTisMyPlaylist (cont)research for experimental music.Meshuggah was the first matter at hand to pick up since their "Bleed" music video has recieved so many views in a quite short period of time. The only problem I might have with them is that they might be loosing their edge and attitude of their own.I see an odd outcome of a sellout version of an experimental death band though. We mustn't forget Swans and Godflesh. They have layed the groundwork of what we can call industrial metal today.

  • @YTisMyPlaylist I think mathcore has still remained an underground scene because I didn't notice it to be exposed in the way this metalcore stuff was already.

I see your taste in avand-garde music seems to be broad enough. With this occasion I thank you for mentioning these bands because I didn't manage to find a proper source to find these groups by any means. The only band I have listened to here is Deathspell Omega and Actopus.I also discovered a band called Ocean somehow by accident in my

  • @YTisMyPlaylist I don't know much about these specific math showoffs you talk about...unless it's about the concept of today's death- and metalcore. Those don't really belong to the math circle. You instantly reminded me of Meshuggah as you mentioned the technical disorder of certain groups.Of course I don't find them bad but their experimental edge adn musical style reminds me of what mathcore should be or have been

  • @YTisMyPlaylist wish to generate with your music is more important to me than the technical skill or sound quality in Bathory's case.Honesty has been shattered by greed, long ago placed into this scene as well, that compromises any chance for a future devoted artist to reach his musical maturity alongside his expression whilst the right for complete artistic freedom is denied. You may in fact label me a a huge music fan rather than a random metalhead, if you want to.Remember sincerity is the key

  • @YTisMyPlaylist I see this seems to be concerning only you personally.I have of course looked up the bands before I managed to form an opinion about their delivery and my conclusion wasn't what I expected from a well known and probably respected as well, band.I do not necessarily aim twards transgressive music but as you just stated in your post, there's no passion or thrill in the attending profession to be found whatsoever. To me the ambience and the ability to embody the atmosphere you(cont)

  • BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD..... FAIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA..... DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET !!!!!

  • this song was not clearly made in this realm

  • one of the most beautiful songs for my spiritual wellness...a soundtrack to my past life

  • simply stunning

got vynil of this had it since i was 17 im now 38....

its my pride and joy also got all other vynils..hail the mighty quorthon

  • I get chills everytime I hear him sing the last few parts....

"Children of all slaves unite and be proud, Rise out of darkness and pain! A chariot of thunder and wind will come loud, and warrior of thunder and rain. With hair white as snow, Hammer of steel, to set you free of your chains, and take you to a place where horses run free, And the soul of the ancient one rains".

  • Weapons in our days are so gay...where are the times when in order to hold a weapon you needed to go through painful and exhausting training, where are the times when your weapon deflected the flame in your soul?

  • Comment removed

  • that beat of the drumm is great

  • What is Doom or Death metal.....All I know is..Bathory rocks :D :D :D

  • @SnellSchnell Doom metal is slow, often dark and depressing metal. Death is mostly fast, rip ass metal, with lyrics about death, gore and sometimes satanic stuff.

  • @Himotary death metal isn't ALLL about the cliche "death, gore and sometimes satanic stuff". what ur sayin right there in that comment is an under-statement

  • @AggresivePerfector66 Off course i know that, but he asked me for a global description. there are ALWAYS bands doing something new, different and often very cool :)

  • @AggresivePerfector66 To be honest. That was pretty much what death metal was, before commercialization. The sound changed too. completely. Check out old Morbid Angel, Nunslaughter and such. That is real fucking death metal.. All that.. Decapitated and all those new modern things.. just ain't death metal. It is not raw, and not dark. It's a joke. Its gone much worse for Black Metal tho. Both hi-fi black metal is raped, same for raw black metal. Derp, so its hard to find good stuff nowdays.

  • @Northernmight ahaha shit, you think i know this?? im not a fool, old Morbid Angel, one of my favorite albums is Altars of Madness. some of my others is Legion from Deicide, Erosion of Sanity from Gorguts, Severed Survival from Autopsy amongst a shit ton of other classics. but im just sayin, Death Metal should be looked at more than just its gore infested, sometimes cliche, lyrics. and trust me, i know about the black metal scene. the day my band turns into filth like that, i'm gonna die

  • Best Bathory ever :D

  • BATHORY my lord

  • This is one of the more interesting albums I've listened too, and it takes my mind into LOTR like settings, love it.

  • one of my favorite albums of all time

  • Every song on this album makes you want to headbang till freakin death!!!!!! Then this song comes and it will just blow u away every time u hear it!!

  • @Kikeitorable Master Wtf your his bitch ?

  • <
