Music influences music. That's how it is, that's how it always will be. You hear a piece of music, you enjoy it, you play music like it. Muse have more influences than I care to count, but the thing about them which I think is excellent, is they manage to incorporate ALL those influences. From RATM to Nirvana, and more classical influences than I care to count, Muse are everything good about music come together in one amazing band.
Great song, Definitely was just checking it out while browsing random songs and doing an english thesis paper, and the second it hit 2:15 said fuck the paper for now, tabbed back in, and added this to my favorites.
This was a B-side for one of the songs on Black Holes...and in My View its better than all the songs on the actual album! Absolute Song. Muse are God !!!!!!
I think Muse is great in the good way of all isntruments taking their space, in some bands you can't actually hear for example the baselines too well. In Muse both keyboard, base, guitar and drums get heared and get it's attention. Base in Muse songs are just legendary.
Muse r awesome and my favourite band but why does everyone focus on matt? yeah his vocals make the band unique but he wud b nothing without the other two, dom and chris dont get enough credit
true man, whenever i talk to people, they're f*cken crazy about matt, but that always leaves me thinkin "what about the other 2"... they make the songs pure awesome just as much as matt lol look at map of the problematique
I totally agree, Muse is my favorite band but people only know matt. I play guitar but when i hear their music Dom sticks out most on them drums!!! I play my air drums like no ones business!!
Yeah Dom's my hero, just because I play Drums and I love listening to him. But Matt is one of the greatest guitar players alive right now. In my eyes he IS the greatest. Ever. This band is the greatest... ever.
if you doubt that muse would listen to racer x then your comment about inspiration means nothing. and yes there is such thing as inspiration, but theres also such a thing as out right stealing another artist riff, and in my opinion, thats what matt bellamy has done
Their song "hyper music" is also similar to a R.A.M song, but does anybody care? I've noticed that when I jam on my bass thinking it's all original, I will later notice that it sounds like songs I have listened recently too. And seanskingdom, If you are going to defend Muse please don't contradict yourself.
RATM not R.A.M. But you're right, why cares, Morello was Matt's inspiration for some of his riffs and guitar effects. Matt kills him though because Matt still makes perfect music, and Morello not so much, just look at Audioslave...
Their first album had a few good songs, but as time wore on they seemed to put out weaker and weaker stuff. RATM and Audioslave were definitely different bands, but seeing Soundgarden's body of work, you'd think they (audioslave) would've put out harder stuff across the board.
@Petenman I just checked it out and yeah I can definitely see the similarities. but you have to remember the riffs aren't even original, they're widely popular (perhaps even basic) because its basically just messing with chord structures and open strings, I made up something similar a while back and discovered it was already made by Dick Dale hahaha. (Nitro)
yeah everyone, listen to the idiot that probably took a community college "intro to music class" and thinks he knows something about anything.
The two licks are similar in progression, not in feel or genres so who fucking cares?? Muse writes a shit load of awesome songs and suddenly they decide to rip someone. right.
Petenman, try writing some music of your own and you'll find everything has been done before and finding similarities is inevitable.
you can't even talk because you learned the modes and now think you are some genius, really, if you even looked at the two harmonies you would see there is nothing too original about them and could easily be used by two bands with neither knowing
@PeaceEpieces Plug in Baby is heavily influenced by Bach's Toccata and Fugue. Don't get me wrong I love Muse but i just wanted to clarify that even the greatest riffs are infulenced by other musical feats of excellence.

:O Is this a B-side, and if so, to what song? I LOVE this song! It just might- MIGHT, mind you- replace Bliss as my all-time favorite song from Muse...O_O And that's saying something!
they have such a variety of songs, there b sides are so much better than manyb bands 'a' sides. Eternally missed, cyring shame, coma, fury and golrious if you ask me ^)
Never heard of this song till I saw that there was 12 songs in Black Holes and Revelations. This is brilliant, Muse have never done a bad song. When you think they have run out of guitar solos, riffs and words to baffle us forever they pull another one out of the hat
No need to be kidding, I think that's the actual reason. It's very, very hard to perform properly, which is a shame because it's such an amazing song: easily capable of replacement Starlight or Bliss.
The beginning sounds very familiar. Was it part of a soundtrack of a famous movie? It's killing me, I need to find out why the beginning of the track sounds so familiar.
I bet the only reason this song was dropped from the Black Holes album was because Knights of Cydonia made a better album closer. Had it opened the album instead I reckon this would have blended in well to the end of Take A Bow.
alot of muses b-sides are better than their singles, thats just the way it works I guess. (go look up easily, (the original) crying shame, the groove, shine, fury, eternally missed if you don't believe me..)
They could have put this song right after "take a bow" as a nice answer. Hehe. I don't know. But I think it could have worked. If they have "Map of the Problematic" in there, which I adore, I think this could have fit in nicely too.

Whoever uploaded this is my hero - ive looked for this song EVERYWHERE *without having to buy it* but dont get me wrong, i been to 4 concerts and own all their cd's so i paid for this already *thats what real fans do right??*
man muse really should just make a cd of B-sides so many are just as good as the normal song's that come out on the cd, like what they did with hullabaloo a live and a B-side cd
Tough this song is kinda different from other Muse songs on BHAR. And i mean that its a good thing. Brilliant track. Way more lifely then Muses songs normally. Im not saying that Muse's songs are bad (they are brilliant) but i smell a nother style chance for the band. Freaking love this track.
Music influences music. That's how it is, that's how it always will be. You hear a piece of music, you enjoy it, you play music like it. Matt rips off Morello more than a bit, MANY riffs are like morello's and 'snakecharmer' by RATM has been used twice in muse songs (the start riff)
im not some RATM fan ranting, it's true, Morello is a huge influence on matt, because guess who his fave band is?

man muse really should just make a cd of B-sides so many are just as good as the normal song's that come out on the cd, like what they did with hullabaloo a live and a B-side cd

To think that this was a B-side i agree.

I totally agree.
It should have at least been on the UK album version, if not a single. It's one of their best songs I reckon
