I dont know man. When I look at punk rock I dont really look at race.I dont think race has ever mattered when it came to punk rock anyways. Why Label it "Afro-Punk"? You could just have it under "Punk Rock".And thats all in my opinion.I have mine you have your's.Feel free to go against me :)
I'm a bit confused about the title of this festival. Firstly, half these bands have non-blacks in them. I've never seen a white power festivals where half the bands had non-white members in them. Secondly, where's the punk? Don't get me wrong most of the bands are pretty good but only about 30% of the bands here could remotely be considered as punk, the rest of them are about as punk as camomile tea.
also you gotta realize this is a company...the name is trademarked...Afropunk is a brand name...not an unmoderated anarchist type thing like the DIY underground punk scene
well if you're in a band, and you couldn't find 2 or 3 other rare Black rockers to play with you nobody wants you to be left out. really...it took me 3 years of non stop grinding to even get a Black punk band to the stage...keeping it together long enough to play was a whole nother nightmare.
also Afropunk isn't like a White power fest lol..I don't know how many people involved are "anti-White", so that's a bad example.
Yeah, I guess that's an important difference, if that's the case. I noticed that you wrote Black with a capital B. Is that because you think that Black is a distinct nationality? Do you think there's a difference between Black being a race and being a nationality?
well you can ask James Spooner in that case...he's the first hand source & it's his company. this is his channel & you can also message him on the Afropunk site.
sure there's a difference. did you notice that I capitalized White too? obviously neither one is a race but that's a whole nother topic...society is how it is.
Not bad, not bad about time something like this shown up. But too bad I'm from not brooklyn although I wish I was so I could go and see what's happenen.

I'm only asking because I want to base my understandings on real opinions rather than some third hand source.
