Roughly six months until release. I highly doubt they're done working on the textures and models at this point.  My guess is that the graphics will be close to, if not equal to, those in the first game when the demo comes out. I hope there's a demo anyway.

Firstly why is it pathetic to use large amounts from a previous game? All sequels do, it saves time so a team can focus on other areas of development.

Plus an interview with shacknews has said that they have updated the partical system as well as other elements of Source.
