"Saigon" is the original name of the city, it is later being changed to "Ho Chi Minh" by the Vietnamese communists whose named it after their communist president. Saigon and Ho Chi Minh therefore mean the same thing, but one shouldn't call it Ho Chi Minh unless they're a communist.
I find it quite ironic but intriguing how a simple explanation 4 the origin of some terms offended others. It simply proved how ignorant the people that know the origin n used it are, I guess it makes sense since theyre communists.

Therefore, Saigon is much more than a common name. If you cant understand or read that, then it clearly indicate that you need much more help than just me lecturing you your own countrys history.
