@dk5412 It's my understanding that it just says enumeration can be made for each state. Meaning, they just need to count the residents to determine their representation in Congress. You just need to answer question 1 of the census form, which is why they put it in a separate highlighted box.

The census is used to allocated funds and resources to specific regions of the nation based upon population, race, age and other factors. It is also used to determine the number of Representatives (congressmen) each state has. They already know where you live, its not like you can hide your house.

No it would not, or was not. They're not allowed to ask that question. Constitutionally, they are allowed to ask only ONE question: "How many people live here?" That's it. They don't need to know your phone #, they don't need to know how many bathrooms you have, or how much income you have, or how many TV's you have. For representative purposes, they only need to know how many people.

Whats funny is people don't believe this yet I have had the census workers repeatedly come to my place to keep asking me questions and I told them all they need to know about is how many people live there, yet they stil consistently come back seeking info. Bachmann is correct and people need to get there head out of the sand. The whole world doesn't think that Obama is the messiah and that whatever his cronies want they'll give.

The census is used to allocated funds and resources to specific regions of the nation based upon population, race, age and other factors. It is also used to determine the number of Representatives (congressmen) each state has. They already know where you live, its not like you can hide your house.

What I do have a problem with is when they use the census to try to gather all sorts of other information that is not relevant. Congress creates the law! "as they shall by law direct." means congress determines how the census is conducted. They have every ten years. They did again this time. Don't like it? Write your congress critter.

To claim is does is an obvious twisting of words, similar to how some people claim the second amendment is a collective right rather than an individual right. Our founding fathers believed in privacy and were very distrustful of government.

The Constitution specifically mandates that a census be compiled every ten years, so that the gov't will be able to estimate the country's population. It's been that way since 1791 or so, and Alexander Hamilton, (a Founding Father himself), had the first census done. Beck, Bachmann, and all these other morons need to put a sock in it!
