@Fishingallday31 as far as i know bluegill can't live in brackish water. And the biggest bluegill ever caught was 5lbs 7oz Caught by Amos Gray in 1998, somewhere in SC. I could not weigh the one I caught because the line snapped while pulling it out of the water. It was brand new 15 pound test. And the knot was flawless.

Nice job, really good gill. What fly were you using? I fly fish/tie too, love to see other kids my age doing it.

One word of advise, you can improve your casting by making more noticeable "stops"on the back and front casts instead of a fluid mothion. This will load up the rod more giving you a farther cast, while also tightening your loop and granting you more accuracy. Good vid!

i like your enthusiasm about fishing i believe by your look that you are about the same age as me i am 14 but not to down on you but i was using a flyfishing popper on a spinning rod and a sun fish was big enough that i caught it but it swallowed the popper i dont know about you but my popper was 2 inch long and about a inch and a half around

nice fish man. i have a couple tips for you though. dont break your wrist on your back cast, which will allow you to cast further with more ease. Also, when fighting the fish, keep you rod handle parallel to the ground, which will keep the rod tip up and let you fight more effectively

in new jersey thats considered a small sunfish for some reason i catch those everywhere at that size on the fly rod or normal bait the bluegill here are so big and used to people you could walk in the water and touch them sometimes however our bass and catfish dont get that big only bluegill really

@Fishingallday31 its pretty big blue gill, but if you are in the maryland area. try fishing deep creek lake. there is some tru blue monster blue gill in there. there is also walleye, bass, catfish, perch, crappie, musky, pike, sauger, pickrel, carp, and probably some others that i havent caught yet. the biggest blue gill i caught out of there before was about 9 inches long and 7 inches tall.
