Snakes...... i HATE snakes... remember watching this movie and didn't think i'd like the movie.. then afterwards i was like holy s**t ! Couldn't wait to see the sequel... overall didn't dissapoint ... ( all except the last one ) ----
@Hannible100 Well, I was partly exaggerating. Am I going to dislike someone purely on their taste of movies? Of course not.
But I also feel that someone who couldn't enjoy the adventure and heroism in Indiana Jones probably wouldn't be my kind of person. The movies are such fun, I would be kind of suspicious of the kind of person who didn't like them.
Tom Selleck would have made a great Indiana Jones, but his committment to Magnum P.I. prevented his taking the role. However, a writers' strike occurred while Raiders Of The Lost Ark filmed, which would have allowed Mr. Selleck to play the famous archeologist. But hey...Harrison Ford was an excellent choice for Indiana Jones and I've read and heard that Tom Selleck was terrific as Magnum (I've never seen Magnum P.I.) . Mr. Ford IS Indiana Jones.
classic film. it should be re-released in theaters again. i'd like to see it on the big screen. it was almost rated R because the original cut didn't have the sheet of flame on Belloq's head when it exploded, not because of the hand-to-hand fighting and shooting, so Mr. Spielberg added the flame over the visual to keep the film rated PG (the PG-13 rating wouldn't exist until 1984, when the controversy over the violence in Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom led to its creation). Great film.
It was 30 years ago today when Steven Speilberg, George Lucas and John Williams brought the most famous daring, hat wearing, whip holding, snake hating explorer and his amazing memorable theme song to the big screen. Happy 30th Birthday, Indy!
Hard to believe it's been 30 years since this was released. I saw it in a theatre that summer, I was 11 years old... it blew my freakin' mind and has been one of my favorite films ever since!
One of my favorite films of all time. It's a shame it's as underrated as it is. IMO, it ranks up there with 'Godfather,' 'Goodfellas,' 'Casablanca,' 'The Empire Strikes Back,' 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest,' 'L.A. Confidential,' etc.
@alaindiazaran Since Marion is the daughter of Abner Ravenwood, who I think was a teacher of Indiana's if not a colleague, and Marion says "I was a child I was in love it was wrong and you knew it", I always figured it was because they had a romantic thing going that Indiana left behind for work and badass adventuring. Personally, I liked Marion the best out of all the Jones Girls. She had real spunk but it masked a charming side of her character-- just good writing.
@OldWorldAmerican so she was in love with Indy then he went away then he comes back and she is angry because he left her for no reason wow indiana jones is heartless with women XD
They knew each other years beforehand when Indy was a student of her father. He was ten years(ish) older and let's just say they did "fun" things together and she felt used/manipulated.
After this film I realized what Adventure movie means! It was full of action, funny and entertaining scenes. Harrison Ford and Karen Allen were stunning. Too bad Karen was absent in 2nd and 3rd movies.
Ponies.

For over 30 years, this film remains as a classic. Even though this is voilently almost an R rating, it still remains a classic.
