  • You should understand 61 German cities were destroyed in fire storms. That is women and children cooked and burned.

It was atrocious what was done to German civilians WW2

  • A soldier WW2 survived battle and came home to find his whole family bombed dead and he shot himself. True story.

I am so pleased I don't live there now.

  • "It's where the second wave of punk started, from the punky reggae party where Don Letts brought punk together with Bob Marley. We used to rehearse there, the Clash would be upstairs rehearsing – we didn't used to speak to each other at that stage, but later I became great friends with Joe. We used to live in squats then. It was the only way you could afford to do your music. It was an area of dissenters and thinkers, and now it's just full of bankers and wankers."

    Jaz Coleman.

  • danger! danger! it's getting stranger!

  • This track has become one of my favs, nice video. Shame that Red Twat's comments above are what you see first. I think that's what some do for recognition for their own sites as they have no imagination or sense of humour :)

  • @TheTerrorcouple cheers,Red Twats comments duely removed.

  • I miss London!!!Long live killing Joke!!!!

  • I had never considered how they rebuilt London post WW2 in light of Nazi bergermeister body doubling, murdersquad systemology, perhaps because I was incarnated elsewhere by that time.

  • seen killingjoke live,mindblast..

  • It's not knee-jerk. Simply walk though London and Europe and you will see Islam devouring western culture. Killing Joke and Billy Bragg could care less if England is consumed by Islam because they hate western culture. Of course, as Billy Bragg sings "Put Away The Union Jack," he lives comfortably in his his huge, multi million dollar home over looking the cliffs of England and the Atlantic Ocean.

  • whats this song about?

  • @kevinleft it's about Shepherds Bush

  • @kevinleft ithink its where they came from.

  • @kevinleft

    You?

  • In my humble opinion, the greatest band ever.

  • I stayed on Kelfield Gardens for about 10 days, which was a few streets over from Ladbroke Grove. In fact, we had to walk down Ladbroke Grove Road a few blocks to reach Ladbroke Grove Train Station and it was quite a run-down street. I kept thinking, "Gee, this looks a lot like Queens, New York." What really got me down was how Islamified the neighborhood was. Quite depressing because in 20 years, Ladbroke Grove and all of London will be a Muslim dominated. What a shame.

  • @anduandirobot belive it or not that's what happened in iran. islam was forced through force, rape , and savagry back in 8th century! now an islamic government rules and represent the persians! go figure..

  • @anduandirobot i am here in London and i see it every day.

  • @anduandirobot That kind of knee-jerk prejudice is the exact opposite of what Killing Joke's music is about. For shame.

  • This guitar could only be Geordie , Master of the low, the chords , the loose strings and the high neck positions ! The best ever !!

  • Paul Raven, Paul Gray, Malcolm Owen, Kurt Cobain, Sid Vicious, Dimebag

    You gave us real music

    R.I.P

  • @cisco9x Did Sid Vicious give us REAL music SERIOUSLY????

  • @scherzomortale No. No he didn't. The fucker couldn't even play bass.

  • @cisco9x Sid Vicious? The guy could barely play his bass - and that was when he was sober.

  • Evocative of the spirit of the area, the culture which helped give rise to KJ and the eternal power of it all. A great composition, and very inventive with their use of dub/reggae rythms and controlled metal/punk power. Love the bass, love the whispers, love Jaz's lyrics and vocs. This whole disc is a fantastic work by innovative men.

  • ladbroke groves not that bad

  • @erictheviking871 fair enough and i agree with you.i was not around in the 70's but family was and i hear it was different n such but now it is full with shitty little hood rats/gangs and etc

  • I lived on Ladbroke G for a year in 2001, worked in a pub called the Eagle. what a dangerous fucking shithole! was a long way from yuppified back then, which wasnt that long ago, I used to arm up to work my shifts. kids would come there moving coke deals for their parents. if its still there, dont go there!

great song, shades of massive attack or something in there without the harder edge sounds.

  • I know how they feel - they same thing has happened to the East Village in NYC.

But you never know... the GAP store that squatted on St.Marks and 2nd ave is gone. Maybe we'll reclaim the rest, too.

  • Thanks much aplenty to kingofpunk1977 and rhinseout for educating a Yank about some 'rock'n'roll' history. Now that I think of it, the space-metal band Hawkwind had a flat there around the time they were recording DOREMI FASOLATIDO and IN SEARCH OF SPACE (though not in that order), or so I seem to recall. I already live among a load of bankers and wankers in my neighborhood in NYC, I can sympathize. And oh, yeah, I am keeping my schedule open for the lads' New York stop. Thanks again!

  • Get used to it at 4:00 Kufirs!

  • Horribly mournful, but the Jokesters never do anything by half measures, do they now. Can a kind soul enlighten a dunderheaded Yank as to the significance of Ladbroke Grove? Have never been to the UK and would like a clue-in if possible. Great track, lovely melody (and on a KJ recording...); why must we wait until November for this to come out in the USA!! Thanks kindly.

  • @Nastyoff It's a spot in West London, where they used to live, jam, and write their early classics. It used to be far cooler than it is currently, and in Jaz's own words, is now littered with "bankers and wankers". He also claimed in a recent interview that the entire band saw some UFOs in the sky with helicopters hovering around it sometime last year whilst having a few drinks for old times' sake outside a pub in the said area...

  • @Nastyoff Ladbroke Grove was a spot where a lot of squats (live in unoccupied premises ) & creative minds can get together to form art poetry politics rock bands etc etc. Between the 1960s-1980s it was cheap to live there but now it is yuppified (Hugh Grant Notting Hill Film) I used to go to Portobello Market a lot to get my Killing Joke bootlegs. I hope you see them play in the USA

  • Anyone up for a revolution? We must end this society run by corporate financiers and property speculating scum. Back to zero. Just a thought. This is a truly great Joke track.

  • its good to hear that early influence of dub/reggae/dance with the industrial rythmums

  • The bass really shines in this song...Youth, you nailed the spectral heart to this!

  • Love the Reggae undertones. This song has reflections of Reggae star Etana's single called August Town. What's happened to Ladbook Grove? Wat a go on in a August Town? Respect to Jazz Coleman.

  • Haunting, mysterious and elusively powerful! This would make a great soundtrack for a movie.

  • @Slaprougefun Spot on. An incredible track.

  • The overall chord progression on this is similar to Medicine Wheel, chorus and all. You can sing Medicine Wheel to this. As much as I want to like this............that kind of bugs me. Sure it's frustrating!

  • This song will will mean a lot to anyone who remembers the real legacy of the legendary Ladbroke Grove. Many a life has passed, many a song was written, many a memory was forgotten almost as soon as it was made! lol Without doubt, the best Killing Joke song ever.

  • Still dont like it, This sounds like the clash on mirtazapine and Necastle brown ale. with there best m8 comming round who has skunk and other bad shit.

I dont want the Clash i want KJ. its strangely good tho hmmmm.

  • Sounds a bit like Matt Johnson (the The) got in your head M8 i heard it at the end but thats not a bad thing. Still! stop doing dub bollox , it really dont fucking suit you.

  • after 10 or so listetens i get it, i am a norvern manky, as you say in the saaath.

Clash BAD Is all i can see in my head now, The Killing Joke doing Dub regee ? wow Ladbroke grove? wow. ..I dont like it. Donn Letts on acid maybe . Maybe he will make the film?.. Now thats interesting. or would be. you could call it Killing Jokes Killing joke ha ha. whatever.

  • One of the best Killing Joke track in many years!

  • @tipvanbob agreed 100 percent.

  • What's happened to Ladbroke Grove? Why not ask Anjem Choudary and his other bunch of Happy Campers that live around there? The place is an Islamic, Wahabbi Hovel!

  • @Loobs666 It's great to see so many KJ fans embracing diversity and humanity. Sigh. Have you checked out the Cockney Rejects mate? Might be more up your street. You might want to check out the BNP site instead of spewing out your prejudices around here. Wrong band.

  • @bufon63 Yer a fucking idiot... the place is an Islamic Hovel! Diversitys all very well, but when an area is taken over by a bunch of facistic bigotted Islamist twats that want to fuck all us stinking Kufirs into the grave.... i'll shout about it as much as I please, thank you very much!

  • @bufon63 For your information Cockney Rejects never have been involved in any racist activities. I am of mixed race myself & I have met Mickey Geggus & Gary Bushell. I suggest you read the Cockney Rejects book where the Rejects crew offer out the British Movement for a ruck & give them a seriously good hiding

  • @kingofpunk1977 Good to know :)

  • @Loobs666 Stayed on Ladbroke for a week in May of 2010. All I can say is I hope you guys in London love Islamic culture because that's what will be the dominate culture. Really depressing! Aren't there groups fighting this cultural take-over or are the people of London okay with Islam?

  • @anduandirobot looks like they okay with them.

  • Comment removed

  • Possibly the greatest dub song they've ever done! It's also the 1st one I've heard that had lyrics (wasn't just a mix) since the old days of the original lineup. The vid helps give perspective to those of us from across the ocean. KJ sound at least twenty years younger with this EP!

  • I can't wait for the tour!!!!!!!

  • this is good, was very disappointed with endgame....the other tracks are great!

production on the others is still too 'thick' and muddy, like basements, someone tell the band!!!!!

they haven't lost it...best band ever

jaz is a total inspiration with his knowledge seeking and spreading of ideas

  • I loved his vocals on Brighter & Extremities. Sweet. I miss that.

  • The Joke are back , no other young band makes this vital kind of music. Sadly !

  • Fucking Ladbroke Grove... it's a complete Islamic Shit-tip! Whatever cultural diversity it used to pretend to have, is now a burqa drenched Islamofascist Dump!

  • Chill boy :)

  • p.s. Really nicely done video by the way scherz

  • Bufon you are a bafoon! I sat listening to Jaz singing next to me only a couple months ago and I tell you this ... YOU KNOW NOTHING! Fool!

Sorry but you pissed me off!

  • @laughingchris I'll wait for the proof. Eagerly. What the fuck would you know? I have my ears, you have yours. Perhaps my expectations are higher having followed them since 79........ Chill........

  • @bufon63 what the fuck would I know? You've got no fucking idea pal. And don't tell me to chill!!

  • I meant "Solitude" (Repressed Emotions) not "Absent Friends"! Scherzomortale will understand my innocent mistake :)

  • @bufon63 Ha ha, you might be suprised on the new album,he does actually 'sing' on it :)

  • @scherzomortale Really LOVE this bro..........x

  • @bufon63 the dub version is great too!

  • @bufon63 That's the one I want to hear! No vocals :) Get it on here! x

  • No, I'll go one stage further and say that Coleman's vocals wreck an otherwise great track. I truly believe that he can no longer sing, only yell, (either that or the band don't challenge him), just to prove how radical he is when sometimes ("The Hum", the unheralded classic "Absent Friends" - see my favourites - not the b/s track on Democracy) invoke a majesty and beauty that this track was so close to becoming.......And I should be sound engineer at their gigs :)

  • This is more like it; more sensitive, textured. Jaz should be holding back a lot more on the verse parts though and only letting go when Geordie's guitar kicks in. Whatever, a vast improvement on the mindless dirge of "In Excelsis".

  • There are already few upload of this song. but I love your slides here. thanks for the upload. Could you tell me more about this place in london(i assume) and the theme behind this song. This is one of the best KJ release in years in my opinion. simply mesmerising!
