Do you feel like the blues brought your strat to life? I have a 1960 Relic that sounds dark and not that bitey. I'm wondering if diff. pickups might help.
@dparel I think these are among the best old sounding pickups you can find, this guitar I have is not particularly good sounding, but people loved the sound with these pickups, in fact I've now put them in another strat, and they do make a significant difference, I recommend them.
Hello... both Suhrs and Van Zandts are great pickups... but if I had to choose I'd go with Van Zandts.... they have more of that classic old Stratocaster tone that I love... the Suhrs are more modern sounding.
hey man do these pickups work good with overdrive to play classic rock too? I think I'm going to replace the pickups in my 50's reissu mexican stratocaster because I just realy love this guitar but would love to improve the sound a little by new pickups.. I play classic rock, blues and (neo)classical music and I want a vintage sound... pending between the True vintage pickups, blues pickups or rock pickups.. I usually play at crunch channel with gain at 5
yes I think these pickups are great, very fat sounding with overdrive and not with a super glassy top end... but clean they give a very fat strat sound, very SRV like to my ears..

@dparel Try a 500K volume pot with the VZ blues set. Makes them sound even better.

Hello, congratulations for your videos and your great gear. I wish I had so many good guitars!
Can you tell me about the bridge pickup on this one? Is it a Wilkinson bridge?
Thanks
malamutelocomotive 2 years ago
hey there..
thanks, the bridge pickup was a Seymour Duncan 59, its now been replaced with a Tyler Studebaker, much better..
the trem is a Wilkinson VS100.. its a great guitar that sadly dosen't get used very often..

Thanks for your answer!
Yes, it seems to be a great guitar.
Unfortunately, we don't have always the time to play guitar as much as we want...
But the most important thing is to enjoy it when we play, isn't it?
