Gun Control doesn't mean banning guns, it means stopping every red neck walking into a store and then walking out with military grade the same day. Here in the UK it is rare criminals carry guns because while say robbing a house is 6 mths-2 years inside, if they were take a gun along they could serve up to 10 years extra (makes no sense). This is a drastic improvement on America (it's pretty bad when Baghdad looks better than LA).

Even if some law or government tells me it is illegal to defend my life. I mentioned two old ladies (~80 y.o.) beaten severely by only one huge young guy... their only way to retaliate was with the gun. One of them had training, permits, no criminal records..., but the law prohibited any civilian have gun in that place. Banning guns? Ban knives, boards, and young people's strong muscles first!

I do know about UK law though that: it prohibits possession of guns (although some older UK law someone mentioned in comments here makes illegal to prohibit any weapons of self defense). I do know (correct me if I'm wrong) that you are required by law to escape from your home if someone invades it. I prefer to retaliate with deadly force - and we can in US.

They need to change the laws about guns. First off - in order to own a gun, you must take gun education, training, and handling courses. Secondly - if used in defense of yourself, your family, or your property, using your firearms would be legal and unpunishable by law. Crime would stop, because thieves, rapists, murders, etc. would have something to fear. If airbags were taken out and replaced with machete's, no one would speed or cut people off or drive like idiots. It's the same concept.
