  • I saw Yvonne Elliman many times in the mid 70's as a backup singer for Eric Clapton.Along with marcy Levy they were a great sound. She was so good in superstar.

  • I always hated the fact that the movie ended with sad faces of the deciples walking into the bus and driving away, as if they were all lost and then it ended.... That's NOT the ending! That's like ending the lord of the rings at the part where Frodo gets caught by the Sherlop. Or ending the Narnia at the part where Aslan dies. And that are just stories, but this is the real freaking deal people! I know a movie doesn't have to be based on only facts, but still. Love this song though :)

  • @lknewb4udid whats the difference she probably was a whore and im sure the hebrew yoshua (j.c.) banged her on a regular basis! pussy makes the world go round!

  • Yvonne never disappoints. Powerful

  • Mary Magdalena being a reformed prostitute is an invention of the Council of Nicea in 325AD. There is NO evidence in scripture of this being the case. Like Paul, they were true woman haters.

  • @Iknewb4udid Whenever the Feminine is absent, the religion deteriorates.

  • look people their ain no "god'! invention of man and we all know the reasons why extinction is just that deal with it! no fairytales are going to change that!

  • Just may be the most beautiful of ALL love songs.....

And delivered by the incomparable Yvonne Elliman........well.........it just doesn't get any better than that.

  • @msdemos You got THAT right!!!

  • I know the soundtrack album pretty well, and this differs slightly from the album version. I like this version better-- it's so much more powerful and honest. This scene never fails to give me goosebumps. Yvonne Elliman is, was, and always will be the best Mary Magdalene.

  • ノーマン・ジュイソン #eiga "イエス・キリスト・スーパースター"抜擢されたマグダラのマリア役、イヴォンヌ・エリマン~嘆きの感動曲"私はイエスがわからない"

  • over and over again and still loving it

  • Padre tenías razón. No me veniste a visitar cuando te fuiste. Tampoco madre yendose. Beides estan en mi corazón por todo el tiempo que paso por esa vez. Quizás los tres vuelvamos a encontrar de nuevo, cuando yo vuelva como está decidido desde.... notlose, tu has de comprender no como madre. Te quiero y esa mujer. Sarvamangalam

  • A star in rock and disco that not to many can claim, just fantastic in all she did!

  • jc got lots of pussy back in the day just like his old man joseph his real father not some mythologicial sky father that dont exsist "god" myth- the invention of man to cope with the harsh realities of everyday life and to cope with ones own personal mortality its called a denial of fatalism there was no first couple in paradise no fall no tower of babel no universial flood all world mythology!since there was no fall then no need for "redemption"

  • @LVCrocky

We are hairless monkeys - the worst of all the primates.

  • Yvonne will always be the Mary from JCSS who I prefer and love. The london version was a joke.

  • @PinkPacifier I also saw the London version and totally agree. But Sinead also is not too bad.

  • Haha, is funny.

Roman Church never spoke like this. Since JC's death.

I HATE the most powerfull istitutions and the way that they distort messages of love and peace, by saving they interest.

Think that in 1973, in Italy, the Church was so close to censure the movie.

Good God, watch this movie and think about it.

"We need a permanent solution to our problemmm"..

  • I agree many people even many churches have twisted the greatest message of all. Only true love can save people, and that Love was manifested into flesh, through Jesus, to teach us about true(uncorrupted) Love which comes from the creator! The love of humans is flawed and twisted and corrupted by greed, jealous, etc etc. To be saved from corruption, you must renounce human teachings and submit completely to guidance and teaching by Jesus and the Holy Spirit sent for this purpose (among others).

  • I believe lebarosky's comment above is correct. To my mind the Sermon on the Mount was the greatest sermon/speech ever given. Every word of it is absolutely True and is Reality. I just wish every man and woman could understand that. I believe that Christ and the Buddha are the 2 shining stars of Earth's history. All I can say is thank God that He sent us these 2 men who actually know what the f__k is going on here.

  • @mzbgwkk Yeah people don't realize how truly radical and revolutionary the Sermon on the Mount was.

  • @mzbgwkk like your comment!!!

  • no importaa cuantas veces la escuche...siempre produce esa sensacion, aun me eriza la piel....la amoo!

  • Para finalizar los musicales, recordando mi actuación en la prepa de esta obra .. hace unos ayeres!

  • Man, I had such a crush on Yvonne Elliman after seeing this movie as a teenager!

  • What's great about Yvonne Elliman is that she doesn't beat the hell out of the note. She adds just the right amount of vocal inflection to make it pleasing to the ear. Great singer also known for her disco hit "If I can't have you, I don't want nobody baby...". Her father was Irish and her mother was a Japanese/Chinese mixture. She grew up in Hawaii according to Wiki

  • The message of Christ has nothing to do with theology and little to do with personal salvation. Such concepts are contortions of his message, which focuses on social justice and the abnegation of idol worship. Blessed: the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven:

they that mourn: for they shall be comforted:

the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. If heaven means the spirit and earth the material it all makes sense. If you follow these simple precepts your problems are solved.

  • @lebarosky Very true, it's sad how many Christians don't realize how connected Christianity is with social justice. They dismiss it as "liberal" when it's reality it's quite Christ like. ;)

  • @lebarosky im sorry theology is about faith and christ and all religions for the people who believe in that

  • @boscat666 Just read the words I wrote stop thinking about old ideas and try to take the words seriously. Why would the poor in spirit be given the spiritual kingdom. What was he trying to convey? The problem with Jesus' ministry is that few take him seriously. Why would he say that the meek shall inherit the earth? None of what I am saying has anything to do with theology or religion. Nor is it a matter of belief. Jesus is stating facts not doctrine. Try to open your mind a bit.

  • the best

  • Yvonne Elliman is spectacular..... strange how drawn in I get to her performance

  • I just saw Yvonne Elliman perform this song at the Cotton Club in Tokyo and it was beautiful beyond words. I was absolutely mesmerized by Yvonne's voice.

  • Deep, reaching far beyond my facade's of my life, this brings back to the surface many hidden feelings i have tucked away safely, for years... yes, tears flow, but, it is all good!

  • I love this song! One of the best from the entire production! The music is beautiful!

  • this is excellent the best thier is

  • buenisimo!!!

  • She is so fantastic. <3

  • @MadisonLois1995 You're an ass, dude.

  • I CANT TO SAY I FELL THIS BEAUTIFUL SONG IS SO NICE

  • this tune still gives me goose bumps

  • Great music.

  • gorgious voice!

I love jesus christ superstar. Even though I'm a total anti-theist.

    It's beautifully done.

  • @Domzdream Funny I'm an Atheist also and I love the music from this as well as other Atheists I know.

  • @CelestialWoodway

Yea. It's 'cause it's brilliant! When I was about 6 yrs old, my parent had this on tape. It freaked me out. Especially the spooky death at the end.

After turning 16, I listened to it, and loved it. I was still a christian. But at 18, after reading the bible 3 times, and just using my brain and questioning a lot of inaccuracies in the text, I got rid of my theism. It felt like a massive weight removed from my shoulders.

The music's amazing! and Im glad you like it.

  • @CelestialWoodway Same here, fellow Atheist, but love this musical.

  • The passion in this woman's facial features surpass other singers when singing. I have researched.

  • @MadisonLois1995 In a way, you're seeing Jesus as a person from his time would. They didn't believe all the time that he's the Son of God -even though Christians today believe he is. They see him as a normal human being, as a friend, as a man. The point of this was to see the struggle he and his friends went through. Jesus is extraordinary and innocent, but he was still a man. And I think they were trying to portray him as one and have stripped him of some of his divine aspects.

  • so 70s lol

  • It annoys me how my fellow Christians react so, for lack of a better word, stupidly to JCS. I believe, as they do, that Jesus was divine and I love it. You know why? Because I also believe he was human, which is just as important, and JCS does a very good job of capturing the very human journey of Jesus' last days.

  • its great!

  • @angelcomet1 god is with you, he hear you and im sure something good is coming for you. Dont be sad.

  • In love with Elliman for like 30 years. That was a performance of a lifetime. It only gets better with time.

  • absolutely brilliant performance and vocal i never get tired of hearing and seeing Yvonne! My most favorite song!

  • The lyrics are absolutely beautiful: her confusion, not quite understanding the divine transformation that has taken place. She's gone from being "no lover's fool, running every show," to being afraid because for the first time she's overwhelmed with an emotion that she cannot control: God's divinity has touched her.

  • @Rayarena God's divinity did not touch her. She was falling in love with him. She only saw Jesus as a man and not God. She said so in the song. Again, this musical downplays Jesus' divinity and places a very strong emphasis on his humanity to the point that the divine is gone. Christians believe that Jesus of Nazareth was a divine person with a human nature. He was God made flesh.

  • @yahooveritas nicely said mate

  • María Madgalena llevó brackets?

  • Un poco plastita, esta Madgalena

  • ノーマン・ジュイソン"イエス・キリスト・スーパースター"~鮮烈デビューだった!イヴォンヌ・エリマン"私はイエスが解らない"のマグダラ・マリア役の熱唱 #eiga

  • Of all versions this is my favorite, Yvone Ellimann was, is and always will be Mary Magdalene

  • My favorite version. Yvonne projects the power of this song, Sarah Brightman does a better technical version, Better singer in that sense but Yvonne bares her heart here. Brings tears to my eyes every time. And this from a Non-Christion

  • thank you so very much for posting...

  • I cant believe I was ever young enough to swell with emotion the first time I saw this. Or that a certain so beautiful girl could love a stump like me back in the day. Like Bobby McGee .... I'd trade all my tomorrows for a single yesterday ....

  • Please, let us give proper credit to this beautiful voice owner: Ivonne Elimann. Hooray for her.

  • Ohhhhhhh, I liked it. Thank you for showing it. I must have the words! :D

  • beautiful voice and beautiful woman. i wonder where she is now. love jesus christ sruperstar

  • yvonne elliman is a beautiful woman! i have always had the hots for her...

she had a great hit on the 'saturday night fever' soundtrack... and another great

tune from the mid 70's: ('love me'...) she has a great voice... i love this video! thank you for posting it!

  • yvone sucks she is so flat that some of the notes actually sound wrong

  • My all time absolute favorite version bar non. We are performing JCSS at Burning Man 2011 Rite s of Passages. Thinking of trying out for "Mary"

  • @badgirlnvegas I agree, the best, she has so much emotion in it, you cant help but feel her pain

  • It is awful....at the beginning it is awfulest...she can't sing this....

  • Is Mary sporting braces?

  • Beautiful. Well done. Pure Artistry.

    Thank You.

  • thanks alot for posting this!

  • I love the camera work in the film. The music score illustrates ALWebber's brilliance. However, since then he's been a lazy bollocks and seems to be focussed on cheap crowd pleasers. It seems the choice is be a prostiute and make a mint, or be a starving artist that will only be appreciated once dead. Hey-ho!

I have to add - turning away and being "lost" if someone you love says they love you-its just not logical. I think its more than likely that they were in love. And why not.
