Nice soundcard, rubbish speakers, I wouldn't hook that soundcard up to anything less than a home theatre system

Would it be worth it to buy it for the Z-5500 system? I'm using onboard 5.1 realtek hd audio, and I can already tell the speakers aren't performing up to their capability.

yeah my housemate has a z-5500, it's the best speakers when it comes to games and music like trance,pop hip hop. He uses the auzentech top-of-the-range card and it's flippin amazing. so you definitely need to buy a better sound card to get the most outta your speakers. I just ordered the xonar d2 today and from what i've heard this card is unparalleled in terms of audio clarity and movies. If you're more of a gamer the high-end creative's or the auzentech would be better.
