Too funny ! Simpler really IS better. To those who are kids-try watching these old repeats sometimes. You might find that its better than some of the other stuff that out there today. It certainly was back then!
@cichriz That's because the puppeteers are basically working backward using monitors with the image reversed so that they can see what the audience sees.

wow, i didn't know that steve's voice could go that low, especially since i'm so used to hearing him play higher pitched characters like Wembley, Rizzo, Bean Bunny, and Kermit.
hopefully we'll be able to see lips a bit more with the Mayhem and maybe even hear him talk more too!
I know, right? He's such a cool charcter, but in a season and 2 movies, he got 3 lines. But cuz he was at Christmas at Rockefeller, there's a good chance he'll be in the upcoming movie!
His name is Lips. The performer, Steve Whitmore. was trying to give him a Louis Armstrong voice. However, at the time when he was doing Lips on The Muppet Show, he didn't feel comfortable with the character's voice, so Steve didn't have Lips say that much if anything.
I still think Lips is a cool addition to The Electric Mayhem.
That was such a catchy little number.I can still remember seeing this on actual TV when I was just a lad....fond memories indeed! It's a great little song to cut the rug with!!!
Living music. Like a True Performer. Incredible how much life they put into those puppets. Like New York State Of Mind. Floyd sings it with his worn out voice. And every move he makes and every word he sings sweats out that feeling.
It's a Louis Jordan tune from back in the day. late 30's or early 40's maybe? Jordan did simple tunes but the lyrics were absolutely awesome. Kind of a Cole Porter of early R&B.
That was great. Yeah that is a rare vocal from Lips, I think Steve Whitmire, whom perfomed him, just wasn't sure what voice would be a good fit for him. Dave Golez had that problem with Zoot.

Sorry for the late reply, but 'Barnyard Boogie' was first written and recorded in 1948 by Louis Jordan & his Tympany Five.

The original "Barnyard Boogie" song was done by the musician Louis Jordan.
Except some changes were made to this song.
One example was "Little White Hen".
In the original, it said "Little red hens".
A certain lyric in the original tells of Aunt Suzy killing a chicken. This was changed in this version.
