They've done something to imeem. It was a fun place I came to everyday and made new friends and everything. It was more than just music now their saying it's just a music place and people are upset about it.. I say it was a great website. It was my best place. Yeah, the box analogy makes a good point. If, for the sake of arguement, EVERYONE participated in the Blackout, and YouTube was a wasteland, I think they'd just get rid of the site as punnishment for being so ungrateful, because YouTube's CEOs know that a lot of us practically depend on YouTube, and that deleting it would put us in our place.

At first you make a good point. YouTube IS owned by someone to do what they wish with it. But by it's very nature it's also a public forum in which Google makes money by us clicking around watching videos. This makes us CUSTOMERS. If we the customers of Google/YouTube don't like the new product offered. It then becomes our right to display our dissatisfaction, and have a real hope to be heard, responded to and see Channel 2.0 abandoned. And we live happily ever after...

I see your point, and it is correct for the most part on youtube. However, I have to admit there are other reasons, beside cursing and explicit materials, that ban videos. This is what I don't like about youtube.

They've done something to imeem. It was a fun place I came to everyday and made new friends and everything. It was more than just music now their saying it's just a music place and people are upset about it.. I say it was a great website. It was my best place. I support your opinion. A lot of the people who do not support the beta channel got suspended because they were going too far in their little 'campaign'.

This video states the truth. As much as we would for example hate the new beta design, this site is not ours. Simple as that. In the end Youtube is trying to improve itself for users' pleasure. Yeah, the box analogy makes a good point. If, for the sake of arguement, EVERYONE participated in the Blackout, and YouTube was a wasteland, I think they'd just get rid of the site as punnishment for being so ungrateful, because YouTube's CEOs know that a lot of us practically depend on YouTube, and that deleting it would put us in our place.

If they decide to ignore us completely even though they could see the results of our actions(YTBlackout) and keep going down that line, I might consider leaving YT.
I like everything nice, simple and containing alot of information(videos) and the beta takes that away.

At first you make a good point. YouTube IS owned by someone to do what they wish with it. But by it's very nature it's also a public forum in which Google makes money by us clicking around watching videos. This makes us CUSTOMERS. If we the customers of Google/YouTube don't like the new product offered. It then becomes our right to display our dissatisfaction, and have a real hope to be heard, responded to and see Channel 2.0 abandoned. And we live happily ever after...

Oh please! It hasn't changed. There are still people cursing and showing boobs and butts on youtube. People still do what they want. When a free service gets popular, they'll put restrictions on what happens b/c it becomes a family thing. Parents don't want their kids going to a popular site and get their fun taken away b/c it's not appropriate. It's not like people are having sex on youtube or are actually naked.

Very interesting. You are 100% correct. Since it is thier media, they have a right to control content. The fist amendment prohibits congress from passing any law reguating or demoting the freedom of speech. It does not mean you can just say anything without consequences.
Although I disagree with censorship in general, I do agree with protecting our children, through parental controls and rating systems.

I see your point, and it is correct for the most part on youtube. However, I have to admit there are other reasons, beside cursing and explicit materials, that ban videos. This is what I don't like about youtube.
One of the obvious reasons I know is political. I know a young man (Ryantineocons) who is banned because he defends Palestinians against Israelis; Ron Paul against Democratic and Republican parties. Seriously, what's wrong with that? He is banned just because he is against the powerful.
