DC has some pretty lame characters and is really kind of for kids, except Watchmen and Blackest Night. Marvel has so many cool and badass characters and DC just have Batman and Superman (whicha very old school hero.) Note I am a fan of both but Marvel is just a lot darker and a lot cooler. Sorry DC fans.

I personally think that DC is better than Marvel but that's just my opinion. It's like PS3 and XBox, the biggest gaming consoles at the moment. Both are very good, but I think we need to get over the fact that they will always be rivals and just support the side you like, not insult the other. (Btw, I like PS3 more)

You're allowed to like DC if you want... but like you said.. Marvel does more than just entertain.
I don't want to start an argument that leads to nowhere but both Marvel and DC have well developed character on equal grounds. You look at Green Lantern and their rich history, or Batman who IMO is the most developed superhero created. I read Marvel too and Spiderman is no more developed than Superman.
As for sense of danger, many DC heros and villians have died, including Batman (Bruce Wayne) and Superman.

But I don't think it's a question of character development, I think it's to do with the limited nature of their characters to begin with.

This was the Blackest Night saga. Before their was any confirmation of a Green lantern movie. Green Lantern as always been a top seller for years. The Sinestro Corps Wars, GL:Rebirth, Secret Origin and now, Brightest Day. All before the movie. Hype about the movie has nothing to do with the continuing sales of GL, unlike Iron-man.
The Flash is also popular. Everyone likes the Flash.
Oh, believe what you want. Green Lantern is a very popular character and his pairing with Green Arrow which was a fantastic acclaimed series. A better representation of realism due to Speedy's addiction to heroin.
Green Lanterns series was cancelled because the sales of superhero comic books were all declining so they began the new silver age with The Flash. Anyway, that was after World War, since then on the up and up.

@Roper122 You would actually be suprised on how many Marvel comic books I read. I love Marvel. Just not as much as DC. You see Marvel as the best. I don't. Many comic book readers are like this. They feel as though they have to pick one and I pick DC. Both companies are really equal in terms of popularity. I'm just thankful we have both. It simple ones going to be better than the other at something. Eg. DC dominate the animation, Marvel bring out more movies.FYI Batman is the best of all time :)
@xDCxLegends ..actually I don't see them as equal...I literally have trouble reading DC, I just don't find them interesting. After Superman and Batman the characters drop off, the universe doesn't really hold together, and even the fact that it's all set in mythical places doesn't work for me.
Of course I'm thankful we have both and I'm certainly hoping that Nolan does a good job with a new Superman movie, and the DC animation seems to be getting better.

I think you give Superman way too much credit and this is coming from me. I think you see Batman and Superman as DC alone. Read Fables, Ex Machina, Y:The Last Man, DMZ, JLA, Checkmate, 100 bullets. DC would'nt have the best graphic novels in the business if it were'nt for Vertigo. Read their books. Much more in depth than Marvels. I know some of the them don't follow into the DCU, but still try to read them.

@Roper122 Not a big Jim Lee fan, but I like his work. I more into Frank Quitely more than anything else right now. And I change my page every month. I change the tone to suit the backgroud image. With the one I have right now, the background is mainly red and black so my layout is like that. With Green Lantern, the layout would be different shades of Green and the writing would probably be white etc.. Why do you fell the Universe does'nt work for you? Characters? Complexity? Storys?

To me DC suffers from having characters that don't hold up under scrutiny. Marvel has always been more science fiction, whereas DC's characters all sort of evolved from Superman ( who himself went through lots of changes )
Yes there's been various attempts to make the stories more complex...but it doesn't seem to sit well with the characters. Batman is about the only one who can stand up to it - but hey, he's the goddamn Batman.

have u ever noticed about dc vs marvel comics is that there r no sidekicks in marvel comics??? i just noticed that. like dc has tons of sidekicks that r teamed with major heros and marvel doesnt have any. also have u noticed that most of all marvel heros really dont go solo no more. they r all in teams, even spiderman and black panther have joined superhero teams at some point.

I personally think that DC is better than Marvel but that's just my opinion. It's like PS3 and XBox, the biggest gaming consoles at the moment. Both are very good, but I think we need to get over the fact that they will always be rivals and just support the side you like, not insult the other. (Btw, I like PS3 more)

I don't want to start an argument that leads to nowhere but both Marvel and DC have well developed character on equal grounds. You look at Green Lantern and their rich history, or Batman who IMO is the most developed superhero created. I read Marvel too and Spiderman is no more developed than Superman.
As for sense of danger, many DC heros and villians have died, including Batman (Bruce Wayne) and Superman.

But I don't think it's a question of character development, I think it's to do with the limited nature of their characters to begin with.
And I don't count the great Superman marketing exercise as Superman dying.

This was the Blackest Night saga. Before their was any confirmation of a Green lantern movie. Green Lantern as always been a top seller for years. The Sinestro Corps Wars, GL:Rebirth, Secret Origin and now, Brightest Day. All before the movie. Hype about the movie has nothing to do with the continuing sales of GL, unlike Iron-man.
The Flash is also popular. Everyone likes the Flash.
And Wonder Woman? Well her 602 issue is out so...
Superman and Batman just speak cash.

Oh, believe what you want. Green Lantern is a very popular character and his pairing with Green Arrow which was a fantastic acclaimed series. A better representation of realism due to Speedy's addiction to heroin.
Green Lanterns series was cancelled because the sales of superhero comic books were all declining so they began the new silver age with The Flash. Anyway, that was after World War, since then on the up and up.
And Iron-man better than GL? Your opinon. Not a fact.

You can even argue that "Speedy" the "sidekick" having a drug addiction is more realistic..perhaps..( pity they didn't do it before Amazing Spider-man, but hey, no shame in coming second).
Although, the most famous addiction in comic books is pretty much Tony Stark. : )

@Roper122 You would actually be suprised on how many Marvel comic books I read. I love Marvel. Just not as much as DC. You see Marvel as the best. I don't. Many comic book readers are like this. They feel as though they have to pick one and I pick DC. Both companies are really equal in terms of popularity. I'm just thankful we have both. It simple ones going to be better than the other at something. Eg. DC dominate the animation, Marvel bring out more movies.FYI Batman is the best of all time :)

@xDCxLegends ..actually I don't see them as equal...I literally have trouble reading DC, I just don't find them interesting. After Superman and Batman the characters drop off, the universe doesn't really hold together, and even the fact that it's all set in mythical places doesn't work for me.
Of course I'm thankful we have both and I'm certainly hoping that Nolan does a good job with a new Superman movie, and the DC animation seems to be getting better.
But I just can't get into DC's universe

The characters aren't thought through. I'll give you an example - Martian Manhunter, Superman, Captain Marvel...pretty much all the same character.
Wonder Woman - female Superman, who flies, but doesn't.
The list goes on...Marvel's character depth is what wins out.
After Batman and Superman ( both of whom have problems ), it's a steep decent.

I think you give Superman way too much credit and this is coming from me. I think you see Batman and Superman as DC alone. Read Fables, Ex Machina, Y:The Last Man, DMZ, JLA, Checkmate, 100 bullets. DC would'nt have the best graphic novels in the business if it were'nt for Vertigo. Read their books. Much more in depth than Marvels. I know some of the them don't follow into the DCU, but still try to read them.

@Roper122 Not a big Jim Lee fan, but I like his work. I more into Frank Quitely more than anything else right now. And I change my page every month. I change the tone to suit the backgroud image. With the one I have right now, the background is mainly red and black so my layout is like that. With Green Lantern, the layout would be different shades of Green and the writing would probably be white etc.. Why do you fell the Universe does'nt work for you? Characters? Complexity? Storys?

To me DC suffers from having characters that don't hold up under scrutiny. Marvel has always been more science fiction, whereas DC's characters all sort of evolved from Superman ( who himself went through lots of changes )
Yes there's been various attempts to make the stories more complex...but it doesn't seem to sit well with the characters. Batman is about the only one who can stand up to it - but hey, he's the goddamn Batman.

Do you guys even know how powerful the DC universe REALLY is? A majority of you guys are just bandwagon jumpers who have a watched a few Spiderman movies and Iron man movies who think you are the judges of comic book heroes lol. If you actually took the time to look at even ONE of the DC universes (out of their many mixed multiverses) they would absolutely destroy marvel. people marvel has much deeper depth than dc. for example if u took dcs entire roster of super heroes and villians and pitted them against just the entire marvel cast of xmen related mutants..i cant even see dc beating them.. think about it, xmen,xforce, x factor., the new mutants, the brotherhood of evil mutants, the maruaders, the acoly tes, not to mention juggernaut, mr sinister and apocolypse...theres just too many powerful mutants to get passed before they even get to the others waiting!

@TBIES71 I disagree with you ( respectfully) DC has way too many Omni powered characters. Far too many if you ask me but thats just how they make heroes over there. I have and always will love Marvel though i do read from both titles. If you included the villians and the heroes and dont include inter -dimensional characters ( on DCs roster) then maybe a close fight but Marvel wouldnt win. The Spectre alone could kill every member of every team you mentioned all by himself.

I really can't decide between the two of the world's biggest comic book industries because one favors the other on a certain topic.
For example:
DC comics founded in 1934
Marvel founded in 1939
Marvel made more movies and tv shows based on their characters than DC.
DC's comic line has the most powerful characters a.k.a Superman and Wonder Woman.
Marvel is the largest American comic book publisher than DC.

You can't say what happened. They rolled off and fell behind a bar in that fight. The owner of my local comics store said that the only way Wolverine would have won that, is if Lobo passed out from all the beer he had drank before the fight.

Superman could be beaten if he fought Doctor Strange( with his mastery in magic), a grown up Franklin Richards (If you don't know him look it up) with mastery over his powers (which I think can even beat Doomsday) I think with Franklin Richards' omega level reality altering powers he could just wish any opponent bye-bye from reality.
