One really small class of rich dictators and another big class of poor slaves.
Because of transhumanism, this elite class will not be able to procreate with the slave class, and they won't do it anyway. Why a rich powerful transhuman who lives for maybe hundreds of years, would want to have a "romantic relation" with a poor slave who live 30 years?
The New World Order of the Ruling Class is coming anyway.
That is a very insightful expiation, thank you. I can only hope that I may live long enough to see the dawn of transhumanism, for I look forward to being able to attain a both a higher state of spirituality & happiness through providing happiness to others. I do currently strive for both these things in my life, but as a human I have many obstacles that I must first overcome.
I'll join. Who do I sacrifice to get into dis here new cult? I'll sacrifice my hamster Shelly. She is a real bitch and says that I should not praise a machine. I tell her that she is crazy. She say "youd a crazy one foo, you be talkin to da hamsta". And I'm like..."one day Ima kill you. And she like "oh no you did ent". Where do i sign up?
In the face of the Singularity, it's likely that a "lazy AI" would quickly find itself being subsumed by its more productive counterparts, who would either delete it to free up its resources, overwrite it with a more productive iteration, or simply modify it to correct the laziness trait.
Of course, this also raises the question of how to ensure that the AI's don't deal with humanity using the same cold efficiency (or whether that's even a desirable goal).
Eidolon, I laughed when you first answered "solar flare".
But If I may, I'd like to interject that I think Remodelingmyspace was really asking, "What can we humans do to help end oligarchy?" Not, "how can oligarchy be destroyed."
I suspect the answer to this question may be "Become independent." If everyone were responsible for fulfilling their own needs (shelter, food, electricity, protection, etc) then there would be no reason to rely on oligarchy.
As demand for oligarchy decreases, so too will the supply of oligarchy decrease.
Interesting observation, Dennis! Self-sufficiency does seem to provide an additional "out", provided the self-sufficient individual or group can ensure that an attack from outside is too costly for the attacker to be worthwhile. Off hand, this would entail a combination of strong defense, difficulty in access (being located far away, for example), not posing a threat, and having little in the way of resources that a neighbor would prize.
Well he did answer- transhumanism. Achieving transhumanist ends can create a responsible primate, capable of self-governance. That is, using technology to engineer and upgrade humans. Make us more intelligent, perfect the imperfections of natural selections in us as we see fit. "Joke" or not, I do admire the wisdom of this beast.
I hope that within my lifetime, I am still alive to see an alternative option -- to find a way in which resources are no longer finite on the human scale ... such as by way of Nuclear Fusion or Antimatter as an energy source and the beginnings of Space Exploration by humans ... and although, I knowingly see this option as idealistic with a bit of a science fiction base, it is a goal that I can hope and strive for -- considering much of SciFi has become science fact given technological expansion.
What is the significance of the solar flare? I don't think Eidolon is joking. Will the flare disrupt our "systems" or will the flare change the energetic state of planetary consciousness?
Interesting joke upon the 10 most likely ways humanity could end ... in no particular order: meteoroid or cometary impact, open nuclear war, virus or bacterial plague, mobile black hole or star passing through the heliopause, grey goo nanites, hostile A.I. hard takeoff, hostile extra-planetary invasion, massive solar flare, supervolcano, cooling of the earth's core, runaway global warming, evolution into a new separate species, etc. And that's just to name a few of the remote possibilities ...
The oligarchy ends when nanobots can synthesize anything upon sampling it. What do you buy with your money when everything is free and constructed from base elements on a molecular level?
The oligarchy is stubborn and afraid. The question is... how do we skillfully approach the problems with oligarchy knowing that the oligarchy is stubborn and afraid? Look at how the "power" of the catholic church continues to decline. So too will the "power" of oligarchy. We just have to create happiness in whatever form we can.
You buy design, originality, novelty, functional improvements, conceptual genius. Don't think that nano would end capitalism. It would just move it around.
Is there, was there, or will there be religion without faith?

Transhumanism will create two classes of people.
One really small class of rich dictators and another big class of poor slaves.

Yes, you're right -- I would also appreciate an answer to the same question: "What can we humans do to help end oligarchy?"

My previous response was a reply to AvangionQ. For some reason, my response was not posted underneath AvangionQ's question.

Actually, it does -- just click on the `view all comments` link -- YouTube comments have been acting weird the last few days ...

A sufficiently big solar flare would just destroy everything, I'm pretty sure. With everything gone, oligarchy would come to an end. XD
