@Draclord35 I actually prefer spawn. The faceless is just boring sweeps drenched with keyboards. Their vocalist is weak, and their drummer is nothing special . But than again all tech bands are fucking boring after the first couple of songs. They get so lost in scales and arppegiated riffs they lose their brutality except Nile, euphoric defilement and origin.

@helloasswipes For Origin... I don't know. I saw them live once and it was really good, but I never liked "Antithesis" because of the abuse of sweeping on this album (sweeping is funny... But not every 1 or 2 minutes). But the last one, "Entity"... Wow... That's a good album (and the drummer is just astonishing).

@iamhomo1 Yeah ok, the first riff is inspired from "Render My Prey"... it happens all the time. What I like in The Faceless is the luminous jazzy parts that appear magically, piercing through the wall of blast beats & furious riffs... And also the "mathcore" riffs & rythms inspired from Meshuggah (like on "Planetary Duality part I"). I miss that kind of jazzy parts in all the other tech death metal band and that's why I don't like stuffs like Spawn of Possession, Deeds of Flesh etc.

Compositionally, you can simply have a good ear, and be able to comprehend the sheer magnitude of this guitar playing, I wouldn't say magnitude, but these guys are pretty good. Not beyond my level of understanding. Ran into this band a few years ago, I know of their legendary status. Re-found them out from Malcolm Pugh, melo tech-death extraordinaire. A Loathing Requiem is beyond incredible, I would suggest checking them out.
