The true danger with this sport, if you are a newbie in this sport, the danger is that you will pass out as you jump, the suction feeling is uncomfortable when you are a newbie, if you pass out, you wont be awake to loose the parachute. So don't pass out, by all means dont pass out :)

BASE jumpers always start out from planes. Nobody goes straight to BASE jumping.

Everybody has a slight fear of heights and for most people, this is eliminated after being accustomed to skydiving from planes.

I had a slight fear and that is gone.

Also- in order to get wing suits and such, you need 500 jumps under your belt.

jakejake678 - you have to make 200-500jumps to begin jumping from the airplane. And if you want to jump from cllifs you should to have a big experince in airplane wingsuit jumps, becouse your doing it for your own risck.

You don't need 200-500 jumps to jump from an airplane. Where the hell did you come up with that??? USPA law requires you to have at least 25 jumps to get your "A" licence and that certifies that you're a competent skydiver and not a complete moron. The 500 jumps is so you can do water and night jumps as well as actually instruct someone else on how to actually perform a proper jump without killing themselves.

The perks of actually getting certified even with the minimum licence is that you get discounts on jumps, you don't have to sit through the instructional class everytime you wanna go up, you can rent your own gear or even bring your own AND you can jump almost anywhere at any actual drop point in the US.

alot of the most popular sites here is illegal to jump from, so you can basicly just strap up and jump anyway. Wouldn't reccomend it though, and this is NOT something you try before you have alot of experince with normal parashooting. The wind may easily slamm your body against the rocks, and considering its often illegal, you are the one who must pay the rescue crew ;)

the best thing to do is to take a course in skydiving such as the AFF(acelerated free fall). thats 7 jumps, then do 10 consolidation jumps.and get certificated.

Once you have 200 jumps under your belt then its time to take a BASE jumping course.
