K5's are pretty pricy man. I just got an Ibanez btb 570. Retails for 1000 but i traded in an old bass and ended up paying 500. The k5 is definitely more than the bass i got (mainly because its a signature bass). Good luck!

Yes , the tune is one step down (ADGCF) b cuz boys from Metallica want some heavy sound on this one. It's not hard to play, You must just feel this. search on you tube " HOW TO PLAY SAD BUT TRUE ON BASS" there will be a video and you'll see it's simple. Good luck

hey man good work on the K5, i have one aswell.

that song is really easy to play in standard BEADG aswell you know, just work it out! saves having to drop down your beatiful bass down a step just to reach the notes you already have available to you in the extra 5th string.

i love the K5, i have an ashdown MAG Stack, 4x10 for the high end click and 1x15 for the low end rumble! sounds fuckin wicked.

i've played a K5 (my friend has one) but the problem i find is at standard tuning BEADG the strings are too high! i've tried lowering them but then they buzz do you get that? or should i just keep trying differnt strings?

i use ernie ball regular slinky 5's which are thick enough to get you down to low A without too much of a rattle, but to be fair i dont think my necks set up properly because a few frets rattle fuck loads and i should probably sort it at some point.

honestly though try a 130 gauge string and drop it to A, its a bit slack but that only helps u get the fieldy click. (the bass is meant for A and baggy strings anyway!)

they buzz against the fret board thats normal for basses when u down tune, when i play static-x i have to tune my e string down to a c its buzzes against the fret board but u dont hear it through the amp

In this video the tune is ADGCF , but in studio I use K5 in ACGCF , and it has no problem with such a low Tune , I never tune this bass in standard BEADG.

I also own the K5 (but just for 5 days ^^).

I tried to tune mine down to ADGCF to play some KoRn-stuff, but when I tune it down the strings are pretty flubby. When I put my left hand on the strings there is a click-sound that annoys me :/

I use Dean Markley XM-5-2605B, very good strings for low tuning. But guitar in such a low tune needs a setup, just go to luthier.

try getting your fingers just above the fret say for example first fret e string put your finger just above the first fret with out touching the fret itself and do it a little more gentle and it should stop but it is very annoying trying to get to play bass very smooth !!!
