  • nice...

  • Damn, in my backyard i only see one star -_-

  • In California, the closest thing to that are clouds -_-

  • 0:36 or so = Venus?

  • Makes me want some milk, or a candy bar.

  • "The rising of the Milky Way" - Carl Sagan

  • The first time I witnessed the Milky Way I reached out to try to touch it. Than I asked my dad if we were the only ones, he turned to me and said No and told me that somewhere, another being was reaching its hand out also.

  • People who think we are alone in the universe are morons. With billions upon billions upon BILLIONS of planets in our galaxy alone, there HAS to be at least 1000 other species or civilizations, and that's not counting the millions of other galaxies that exist in our universe. When you think of how big this place is, it just blows your mind. Especilly since only about 0.4% of the universe is galaxies, about 70% is Dark Energy and 25% is Dark Matter.

  • What was that bright star at the end?!

  • DAMN where i live you see like 30 stars in the night sky and thats pretty much it :( if i had such a view every night i would never move out from that location :D

  • Question, were more stars visible to the camera than to the eye due to the exposure settings?

  • @greenops I was thinking the same thing. It seems crazy to me that you can see that exact image with the naked eye. I am very aware that you can see the Milky Way galaxy in the right spots. But is it really THAT clear???

  • saying there might not be life anywhere else.. is an understatement. all those planets and stars.. ones gotta give, and thats just the milky way!

  • what settings on your camera did you use to capture all the stars?

  • wonderful

  • 7 people accidentally clicked the dislike button, it's okay we forgive you.

  • so what exactly do gay people have to do with the video

  • time-lapse rulez!! Do you know you can make time-lpase movies with any camera with this device: (copy address to browser): tempusALL.bymac.org

Works with ANY camera! ckeck it out :P

  • Oh I miss Texas...!

  • What settings did you use on your camera? ISO, Exposure time, f stop, etc. please answer :]

    love the video btw

  • @YoungCRS

Shut the fuck up you dumb cunt, how much times do you want to say low esteem, we can fucking read!! You are supposed to comment about this amazing video of the milky way instead of attention seeking you fucking wanking troll.

P.S: its wierd in australia because the milky way rises in the east haha

  • @gunnyman99 i was trying to make a point and it seems to have a struck a cord in even those that weren't in the conversation LMAO if i am a "fucking wanking troll" for writing a comment, what does that make you? LMAO...people never seem to think before saying anything these days SMH

  • @backstreetMJ

We are on the orion arm of the milky way.

  • i live 20 miles outside St. Louis, MO and have my whole life. I have never seen anything like this in the sky before, and I can't believe people in the country see this every night like it's nothing.

  • @Xoxinwulf well to the human eye you cant actually see all of that. you wouldn't be able to see the milky way and like half of those stars. the camera the guy used was set on very high ISO sensitivity (picks up even the faintest amount of light). So you would be able to see a lot of stars, especially in the middle of no where but you wouldnt be able to see the milky way, sadly :[.

  • @Xoxinwulf Well,i live in a fairly small town in southern sweden and if you walk to the forest here and find an open space you will see alot but not this much. The Aperture of the camera makes it take in all the light produced by the stars, so stars far away becomes very clearly visible. Thinking of making a timelapse video myself when in northen part of sweden to perhaps catch aurora borealis =)

  • @Xoxinwulf Loving that light pollution eh?

  • @Xoxinwulf I'm with you.

  • Lovely, but we only can see 1 tail of milky way on earth is it? We are out side of the stroke.

  • Simply beautiful. If you feel alone after watching this then you need to re-think your life.

  • awesome and amazing!

  • ive never seen this in the sky you need a telescope for that galaxy immage to come out.

  • Is there any way I could find a schedule of when this happens in a certain area? Would be amazing to witness.

  • Gasp! WOW! Just can't get articulate!

  • You wouldn't be able to see in this detail, they used a filter. But still cool though!

  • Can you see things as vividly as this with your naked eye?

  • Watching things like this makes me sad that our species' space programs are the most under-funded and misguided in any Government. Before I die, I hope to see a drastic change, an increase in the awareness of how important space travel is. Our resources will be gone, and not everything can run off water and solar energy.

The day we leave our solar system and find that confirmed advanced, non-natural signal from another species will be the greatest day in the history of our species and planet.

  • what are the iso settings?

  • And on one of those, there lives a little prince with 3 petit volcanos and a rose...

  • @maaskeimorgen I love you.

  • is this real?

  • @FaLc336

Yeah it's real. You'd be surprised at what you can see at darksky preserves :)

  • Science, your creation is beautiful,, thankyou, and thank's for the lovely chat i had with the lady from Romania, thankyou.

  • One God, protect Good

  • God, your creation is beautifull, thankyou, and thank's for the lovely chat i had with the lady from Romania, thankyou.

  • i have lived all over america and have stayed in texas many times i have never seen a night sky anything like this in america, i have lived in the zuni mountains of new mexico off of old indian trading routeshundreds of miles from any major city and still have not seen a sky like this i have lived in the thicks of the ozarks and still nothing like this.

  • @jamesracek88 its because it was taken useing a telescope i think lol

  • @kakaroobart Nope, it wasn't. It's simply an area with little to no light pollution.

  • Just imagine how far away that is

  • Wonderful !!!!!!!

there is no words describe this view

  • amazing!

  • Priceless!

  • HOLY CRAP is this REAL? I live in South-east England I barley see more than a few stars on really clear night but there are faint.

  • @zeesham13 yes no

  • GNARLY!!!!!

  • I actually realized how stupid my question must have sounded the minute it was out of reach. The images were surreal and I've never seen anything approaching the brilliance in the video so I guess what I said sort of just fell out of my mouth.

  • Is this real?

  • @jimbojamesIV Yes this is real. This is what we can just barely see on a really clear night in smaller cities.

  • Epic, I love this video.

  • what beautiful.. thx

  • That is soooooo good!!!

  • Damn thats good!!!

  • Damn that is f'n awesome

  • this is so beautiful , and did you guys catch the shooting stars?

  • I love this video I would totally go to one of these parties.

  • NASA has to build a space ship that can go faster then the speed of light so i can see the milky way up close!

  • thats sick dude!!

  • Can anyone say me what is modifications..? Thanks.

  • Gorgeous. Will see someday.

  • I gotta see that with my own eyes! NEVER have I seen anything like that before!

  • seeing that with my own eyes is officially on my bucket-list

  • @iainlm well to the human eye you cant actually see all of that. you wouldn't be able to see the milky way and like half of those stars. the camera the guy used was set on very high ISO sensitivity (picks up even the faintest amount of light). So you would be able to see a lot of stars, especially in the middle of no where but you wouldnt be able to see the milky way, sadly :[.

  • wow, that is cool!!

  • Phenomenal. No other words for it. It's nature, but unfortunately for us, it seems unnatural.

  • i swear someday i am gonna see that!

  • this is too beautiful

  • how come i dont c dis from my window or balcony? where in da world u have 2 b 2 c dat?

  • @okko321 bro you can't see anything like this in an urban area. you have to be somewhere very very dark in order to see this!

  • Wow just wow no other way to put it beautiful view of the milky way center only making it more epic with the sunrise

  • now THAT'S epic

  • Wow

  • OMGGGGG BERY BEAUTIFUL I LUV UUU

  • for amazing view, watch in HD!

  • Fake.. been there.. nothing like that

  • @dmead its not fake, you cannot see this amount of detail with your eyes, but with a high exposure camera you can do

  • It was incredible to see the sun rise against the backdrop of the galaxy. It really gives you a different perspective on our place in the Universe.

  • Fantastic video. Really gives a good perspective towards how we are just on a little spinning rock flying through the galaxy.

  • Beautiful!)

  • looks like some goo with bits moving around inside eh?

  • Nossa meu, que muito louco ...

  • Wow.. NICE!

  • a nuke went off in the background

  • How can you dislike the Universe? I don't get it...

  • Thank you for *not* soundtracking this. :) Sometimes silence is best.

  • Looking up at the stars makes me emotional :')

  • amazing stuff, many thanks

  • 4 blind people gave this a thumbs down

  • @email4saundra HAHAHA! To bad!

  • @email4saundra how'd they know where the dislike button was dumb shit?

  • @YoungCrs Thats the point you idiot...they didn't know they were clicking on it, because they're blind. Idiot..

  • @fady02 you are a fucking dumb shit thinking blind people would be on youtube trying to watch something they can't even see. so not only does that make you a fucking dumb shit, it makes you a fucking dumb shit with a low self esteem that would say anything just to get a thumb up his ass. Fucking dumb shit with a low self esteem.

  • @YoungCrs I don't give two shits about a thumbs up lol. You're an idiot for not understanding a joke. I hate dealing with idiots, so I won't bother replying anymore. Goodbye

  • @fady02 LMAO thats right, you don't give 2 shits, you give 3 shits you fucking dumb shit with a low self esteem. Oh, I understand the joke but i think its a poor excuse of one therefore leading me to believe you are really desperate for laughs, but since we are on youtube, a thumbs up. Either you are too stupid to come up with something clever or you are looking for a thumbs up. Either way you are still a fucking dumb shit with a low self esteem. LMAO u fucking dumb shit with a low self esteem.

  • @YoungCrs You might be doing shit for a laugh, but thats because you're an attention whore. I simply amuse myself by making pissing off idiots like you and it worked lol. Its so sad how small your mind can be.

  • @fady02 pissed off? you have no idea do u...i'm over here laughing my fucking ass off at how pathetic you get after each of ur comment. Attention? who's attention? please tell me, because i don't see anyone else but your fucking dumbass, the 1 with the low self esteem, yeah that fucking dumbass hahahaha if my mind is SMALL yours must be tiny. But of course it has a HUGE low self esteem problem hahaha

u have already proven my point for me Mr. I won't bother replying anymore hahahaha UR PATHETIC!

  • @YoungCrs I hope you get cancer and A.I.D.S.

  • @chonomakona you are better off hoping that a big black guy busts a nut in your ass because that is more likely to happen

  • @YoungCrs So? Got a problem with gay guys? You're still going to get cancer and AIDS, if you don't have one or both already.

  • @chonomakona no, i was merely saying what is more likely to happen and I guess I was right LMAO...yeah you can keep on saying that while you are getting rammed by your manfriend

  • @YoungCrs So you are homophobic. Pity. It's also a pity that you can't think of anything better than saying I'm gay. You probably look like you got Down Syndrome or something considering you're a troll.

  • @chonomakona How am I homophobic, I was merely pointing out what is very likely to happen to you and it turns out I was right....I look like I have down syndrome? LMAO you have never even seen me before...just stop now dude, you are starting to look stupid....and what the fuck is a troll? is that the new insult you hipsters are calling each other these days?...see how defensive u get when someone points out your homosexual tendencies? SOUNDS like someone is in denial

  • @YoungCrs Can't tell if troll or just stupid.

  • @Skateoftheunion you might be able to tell if you'd stop living your life in front of a computer

  • @YoungCrs Can't tell if troll or just stupid.

  • @YoungCrs Just stupid, I think.

  • @Skateoftheunion oh my jesus, you do exist....this kid actually made a thought...ayyyyy yo bitch, get on yo knees and pray to the curly haired white man for the miracle he's just given you

  • @YoungCrs What?

  • @Skateoftheunion false alarm, you aren't capable of thinking after all... you really are a dumbass, guess it wasn't a miracle after all

  • @YoungCrs What?

  • @Skateoftheunion DEE DEE DEE

  • @chonomakona That was the most trollorific comment ever. Good job.

  • @chonomakona LMFAO

  • wow i wish the stardust and stars arnt in the way so we can see the center but they are so far that its possibly 1,000,000,000,000 years away and the center/nebula is big to bad where i live has so many light pollution i can only see about 100 stars max

  • @deathblock6969 It's not that far but yes, it's very far away.

  • HSWTF!!! This is amazing!!!

  • Can we get this black hole at the center to position itself directly over George Bush' current location?

  • i wanna go to texas and see this =(

  • @greenappleiceblended Its not just visible in Texas its visible anywhere anytime you are facing the center of the milky way at night when there is no light pollution. You have to get miles away from any city to see something like this.

  • @lawlatyoufail um...i live in singapore..haha

  • This is fantasic ^_^

  • You definatly get a sense that you're looking through the porthole of an object falling through space. Fantastic view, isn't it?

  • wow so we are in the galactic center

  • @faze3todd Nope, we just saw it. I think we're something like 10,000 lightyears away from the center.

  • @electricninja2007 gosh and we only live for about 30 to 70 years max?

  • My geology teacher showed us this video. Sadly, he's christian. :(

But he's awesome because he doesnt teach creationism and teaches the cirriculum.

  • Awesome!

  • who the hell can dislike a video like this? i feel like the double rainbow guy when i see that come over the horizon!!!

  • Whoa... Ive tried to see this from by back yard but never got close to this (Iowa skies r not as interesting) just makes me wonder if there is other life out there

  • aahhh....the big vagina in the sky

  • This is astounding. Having lived in and around big cities all my life, I've never had the privilege to actually see what the Milky Way looks like, we've only gotten to see a haze of light so pale it's almost invisible. And that was way up North. Thank you for uploading this. You've given those who have no way of seeing such a spectacular thing a chance to see it. :)

  • Why are people so worried about the end of the world? If the world "ends", everything does. All reasons to fear death is because other people will live on when you're dead (Maybe you're not aware of it, but that's the way it is). If everyone dies, then dying yourself is nothing special or terrifying. Life will not go on without you. You wont miss out on anything. Everyone suffers the same fate as you do. Stop worrying and start thinking properly.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWW!!!!!!!! :D

  • fantastic

  • Gods art work... Breath taking

  • @somebodysangel99 YEP :D

  • I would love to see that in real life sometime

  • I never see night skies like that!

  • Is the color edited at all?

  • @Andrewbohs No, that is how it looks from absolutely clear skies and far from the lights of the city.

  • the sun is getting closer to the milky way and it was taken on 2009. imagine if its true that when the sun aligns to the milky way something catastrophic will happen.

  • @rekcah07 Our sun IS part of the Milky Way...that is our galaxy. Noting catastrophic is about to happen.

  • @Noble4Truths lol i know. but im just saying what IF

  • @rekcah07 Our Solar system moves around alot just so you know,

Stop being paranoid, if it's the end then accept it, your life is insignificant when you consider how large the universe really is

  • @CzarThePlezer im not paranoid about the end of time. I myself would be really stoked to witness and experience the end of the world that the ancient people predicted. its crazy i know but IF it happens then it happens.

  • @rekcah07

The sun aligns with the SMBH (super-massive-black-hole) at the galactic centre EVERY year on dec 21st.... and nothing happens.

The sun is of course most likely travelling towards the centre. But if you consider that this galaxy is 100,000 light years across (that is at the speed of light, it will take you 100,000 years to get to the other side) we will never make it near the centre in our species life time, or probably even the solar systems life time.

  • so beautiful

  • People think we are so insignificant in the universe, because we are small and the universe is big. But I sometimes feel the opposite because I (and we) came from these stars.

  • We are in the Milkey Way Galaxy. In an outer arm. This is really cool.

  • Amazing!

  • Amazing. Sunrise happened

  • what happened on the end ?

  • @VF0D The Sun rose

  • amzing loved it

  • This proves again that the Canon EOS-5D is a 'state of the art' camera!! I wished we had this kind of night-views in Germany!!!

  • How and when can I see this magnificent display for myself?! I have never seen anything like that can it be viewed with the human eye alone? I realize it would have to be during the part of the year when we are nearest to the center and the sun is not blocking our view. Please respond I am having difficulty finding information about this using google searches. And thank you for this amazing video!!

  • @RobbyRichards You need to head out to the country to some dark skies to see the milky way with the naked eye. I went up in the desert mountains and it was absolutely amazing. I think everyone should see the night sky from a remote dark sky location at least once in their lives!

  • if space has an infinate volume which many believe and so do i. then life outside of earth is garanteed because there is infinate possibilities.

  • @EREV0LUTION That's interesting, as if there was a Big Bang, then theoretically, as long as matter is not being produced from nothing, then there is a finite chance of anything happening, as matter can only change states/energy forms, and there is as much matter now as there was when the Universe was created.

  • @Dazmaster75 hmm i suppose, but how did the matter get there in the first place. thats all i want to know haha

  • @EREV0LUTION well that's the interesting thing, as there is a possibility that matter COULD be made from nothing, and just randomly expand into space, don't know the technicalities, but this is the theory as to how the big bang occurred. Imagine it as bubbles that form and expand quickly. But the original statement still stands, that there is a finite amount of matter, so a finite amount of possibilities of states of matter must occur, although this number will be in the billions of trillions.

  • Seen this video tens of times on different sites, but it never fails to amaze me. Wish my skies were that darks, my timelapse & photos always turn out to be crap.

  • So it's true... The stars at night, are big and bright...

Seriously, I wish I had a fisheye lense so I could do this.

  • Was this in a rural area? I just really wanna do a time lapse of the stars some time in the future, but where I live there's too much light pollution...I think, because if this was in an urban area I guess it would work well?

  • @moviesunrated

The trick is to have a long exposure time, like the start of the video says, they used 20 seconds. This means that the shutter was open for 20 seconds, allowing lots of light in, and giving a brighter picture of the stars.

    Hope that helped.

  • That was beautiful, thank you for this video.

  • There is no way yet to answer if there is intelligent design or pure random chaos..I honestly feel like we like in a computer program...there seem to be too many random laws...we have entropy but life is can't survive without some sort of order...

    Evolution...etc etc...

All these laws just seem to perfect for life...and something must have had a hand in design all this...but then again who cares.

  • erm anyone wondered what the blueish flash in the end was about?

    that was no sunrise...

  • AMAZING

  • I havent seen a sky anywhere near that since i was 5 years old and in France on holiday, But thats living in London for you : (

Id love to have atleast one day a year where everyone turns off every light on a clear night, its a shame so many miss out
