To get the curse, you would have to take the Aztec gold from the chest directly (like Jack Sparrow did before he started fighting Barbossa at the end). Elizabeth got the coin from young Will Turner, remember? He wasn't a skeleton either, because he got the coin from his dad (who was cursed because he took coins from the chest).

Am I the only one to notice elizabeths hair changes colour throughout the film? It's a beautiful brown at the beginning and end, and obviously dyed blonde in the middle. It's like the hair stylists were trying to distinguish the difference by making her a brunette lady and blonde (therefore probably slightly dumb) pirate. Although I don't think they had hair dye in Georgian times...:P

I actually thought this trailer was really good. Have you seen the one on iTunes? That ones horrible, it doesn't tell the plot and just ruined all the funny parts. This trailer actually told the plot, but it pretty much gave away the entire movie. I don't think it matters though considering just about everyone on the face of the earth has seen this movie.

@hopkin104 they mutinied against jack and stole his map that led to the cursed gold, they left him on the island, then they went and got cursed, jack says in the movie that it's sort of a good thing that they did so cause if they didn't then he would be cursed too.

@hopkin104 I've tried to find that out myself, but they probably want to leave it a mystery, but he's probably somewhere in his 30's, cause the character seems like he's got a lot of life experience, but he's not that old, and it makes sense for him to want to be younger and immortal, cause in the 1740's, which is the time blackbeard lived in, living to be past 30 or 40 was rare, especially for an alcaholic pirate who likely has std's like syphilis.

@1000whitedusts jack was left on an island before barboosa and the rest of the crew ent and stole the aztec gold..... so jack didn't get cursed as they did......but at the end when jake stole a peice so barboosa couldn't kill him but at the right time he would put his back so he could kill barboosa for stranding him on that island.

Also, when in prison on Port Royal, Koehler (the black member of the crew) reaches in to grab his neck, complete with skeleton arm, in the moonlight...and Jack is intact. He got cursed of his own accord during the finale.

This is one of the best movies ever made. The sequels are not good but they don't suck either. Jack Sparrow is more serious and realistic in this one. The actors playing in the fourth film were told by Disney not to occupy their time in the near future, as the studio intends to shoot a fifth and sixth film back-to-back. On January 14, 2011, it was confirmed that Terry Rossio will write the screenplay for the fifth installment. Jerry Bruckheimer said that the fifth film would be a standalone film. This would help them a lot as there would be more revenue for them. According to Terry Rossio the script for the fifth film is finished.
