  • I'm reading Don Nix's book Road Stories and Recipes and came on here for a little aural context. Immersed in Memphis in the 60s!

  • Last Night - 1961 hit

No wonder I love this song - I was born that year! Thanks for sharing!!!

  • theme tune to 'bottom' (uk) too!

  • I have the original single too and it's a little slower. That's why I wondered.

  • That is the original track for Last Night, but I can't help but wonder why the versions I have on CD are all pitched a step lower than the original vinyl versions available on YouTube.

It sounds like the tempo was increased for the original single release, increasing pitch as well, but then it was brought down to the original for some reason for the CD releases.

    This is odd.

  • all i can say is wow

  • Great to hear this; my dad went to the same high school in Memphis as most of these guys in the late 50's.

  • Last Night sounds identical to the single - definitely not a re-recording. Great little compilation!
