  • if you walk down the street of olongapo outside of the main gate Subic Bay Naval Station you would swear that Elvis was singing live in one bar Jim Morrison in another. The only performance they couldnt imitate was the appearance of the singer. You walk into the bar and Instead of Elvis on stage there is a short asian dude singing large

  • wow, auz, even here in baguio we Igorots love Country!

  • that's "good times" Charlie

  • Japan may be racially homogeneous but these days they seem multi-cultural in popular and music culture.

  • country in japan?....... i like it!

  • Interesting..... Hard to believe that Japan plays this kind of music... I would not expect that... Pretty nice though...

  • Country Music is one of the last things I'd expect to see in Japan.

  • Actually, I WOULD not be surprised to find out that some the Japanese people really like country/bluegrass/western swing. They are a curious, intelligent people and like music, dance and theratre/plays/ opera (kabuki). It seems people from all kinds of cultures like this type of american music. It being accoustic a good deal of time helps. And it is good sounding music. One thing that did strike me as odd is the number of asian women singing a cover of Paatsy Cline's Tennessee Waltz here.

  • @OkeeHadjo Oh they do. It's VERY popular there. Jazz and Blues are probably the most popular genres in modern japan.

  • @KUROGUY.....actually, you're dead wrong!! Blues and Jazz are not probably the most popular genres in Japan!!! Nice try though! it's still rock and roll and pop music................ Country is likely at the bottom of the list

  • would love to play your festival!!

D.M. SEALE & THE CHASERS ....Go to youtube and check us out

  • I just got to see Charlie and his band last week in Kumamoto. It was truly a first for me, but it was definitely interesting to hear a Japanese man sing "Folsom Prison Blues".

  • Wow seriously......

  • i was in nashville in june , stayed at the same hotel as charlie and his family, they all seemed really nice, went to see the grand old oprey show and have to say the whole thing was a big disappointment, was poor to say the least , adverts were entertaining though, best one was dollar general.

  • Actually, Charlie puts on a Country music festival every year in Kumamoto, Japan...well Mount Aso to be exact. He usually gets North America acts to come out for it. He had Brad Paisley a few years ago. I have been in Charlies's Bar in Kumamoto and met him and had a great conversation with him. Really nice guy..

  • He sings very good engrish!

  • Wow!!!

That take you what...6, 8 months to figure out????

    You're hilarious.

Let me ask you this genius...are you in a world-wide video????

    NO?????

    Then grow up.

  • lol

  • he sings good english!

  • I saw Charlie Nagatani and the Cannonballs (his band) a few years back in Kumamoto! Imagine walking down a street in Japan and seeing a sidewalk sign advertising country music. Up to the 5th or 6th floor we went. What a great time. He and his wife are fabulous hosts. He's been on the Grand ole Opry and puts on a big country music show at Mount Aso near Kumamoto every year with North American Acts! This video brings back great memories! Thanks!

  • Good beer drinking music, I like it.

  • I have met this guy in Kumamoto, Japan at his bar Good Time Charlies. He is a very interesting guy and a real country music embassador.

  • You can find him in Kumamoto Japan. He's an honorary Kentucky Colonel. Good dude.

  • Is this the guy that sings "Kumamoto to Kentucky, Tokyo to Tennessee"?

  • Yes. That's him.

  • Good Time Charlie is what we call it
