the movie solaris has to do with String Theory an,or M Theory....Anything that can happen will happen in these string and M theories....Sounds crazy but it's being proven as we speak...What is Reality? we could be living almost the same as we are now, only one thing could chance things. Anything that can happen will happen in these string and M theories. some of the best ppl in Physics now are saying this to be thruth. mitchio kaku steven hawkins and the list does on and on.
@iZackeyblade I am glad someone mentioned Sunshine with this film. I would say that for a sci-fi film without action, this one takes the cake for the non-action qualities. But Sunshine is so different and yet quite similar, It's so strange I don't really know how to compare them. Solaris doesn't have that epic moment at the end where Capa touches the sun, but instead leaves you with a question. In terms of music they are so incredibly different and both incredibly amazing in their own rights.
@FUZATl Life is what you make it, how you treat it, deal with it. In everything negative thing there is a positive thing somewhere as well. Otherwise Solaris would be just like real life...
There is an old Depeche Mode song called Waiting for the Night which has a very similar delay-effected digital steel drum. Not the same but close enough to make me wonder if Martinez was influenced by it.
@Thejohnster18 : how about Jon Hopkins, from the filmusic "Monsters" (2010). The theme water sounds a lot like it! Same bells and stuff. It's beautiful though.
@Jaeckrich Might of seen it on the TV Ad for the VW Golf R32, with the tagline "Night Driving", with Richard Burton narrating over it (The dude from War of the Worlds)
@Jaeckrich The original Mass Effect (video game) music sounded a LOT like the Solaris soundtrack in some tracks (the ones with bells). I remember reading an interview somewhere where the Mass Effect composer mentioned Martinez and Solaris as an influence.
@Jaeckrich "dont blow it" from solaris was use in the first district 9 trailer. i was freakin out when i heard it bc i've been listening to it for years and love it, i was glad to see it brought to a wider audience, but maybe thats where you heard it
So this movie is about the North Star? Excellent track by the way.

@iZackeyblade Sunshinw was garbage. This is a quality film - a reimagination of the original novel.

@jussimaartens Yeah man. The major seven to minor seven intervals in the theme with the bass walking down is really fucking eerie.

I swear I've heard this prior to seeing this film. Has this been sampled by anybody? Amon Tobin, maybe?
